Baby Steps
January 1st, 1936 though February 2nd, 1936
The results of the minister vote came in, and Casanova, despite his desire to round up more industries under government control, agreed to decrease conscription.
He then asked Foreign Minister Rossco to briefly describe the diplomatic situation:
"Our comrades in the USSR are interested in us, and securing a full alliance in the future may not be too hard. The scumbags running the UK and Celtic Union dislike us, but the ones running France are fairly friendly to us. As much as I don't like it, I suspect this will come in handy as it gives us some breathing room."
"Our independence is guaranteed by France and Italy. This may, in fact, be out of fear of the Iberists aligning themselves with Germany. However, the Italians have been getting close with the Germans, so I hav eno idea how this will play out. Hopefully, they rip each other to shreds."
"We have also received a goodwill letter from Ukraine. I've all but dismissed it, however, as they broke away from the USSR, so we've no need of their friendship. That is all."
"Thank you, Comrade Rossco. That concludes this meeting. Everyone is free to go, except I need Comrades Polkov, Drago, and Rodoreda to stay for a bit.", with that, almost everyone filed out of the Parliament building turned Party Congregation center. The Chiefs of Navy, the Air Force, and security remained, as requested.
"OK, first off, Comrade Rodoreda, I want the Conselleria de Segureta to begin work on new ways to improve our industry's efficiency and thus, output. Can your department do this?"
"We'll try our best."
"Good, you are free to go now. Thank you. Now, onto you 2. I would like to know what sort of doctrine your respective branches would like to follow. Though our thinking is backwards, it means we can pursue whatever we want when thinking forward. You don't have to tell me now, we cannot support anymore projects. Feel free to tell me anytime, but preferably before a war breaks out. With that, you both are free to go now.", and the 3 left. Premier Casanova headed back to the Palau. Once back in the safety of his office, he went onto manage the country. Like he always does. Almost.
New industrial complexes were ordered in the Barcelona area and in the Pyrenees near Huesca. Since the whole country short of Barcelona laid open to attack, Casanova figured the mountainous region would be hardest to take."
A few days later, something miraculous happened. Production was up throughout the nation. Industry produced more, more resources were extracted. However, people seemed to get more restless...

I seem to have run into a beneficial bug in the scenario. I got an event labelled 'AI_EVENT', the description was 'ai_event', and the only option i could choose gave me 6 offmap IC, some offmap resources, and dissent. I'm pretty sure this event is meant for countries without IC, but I'm just going to go with it. I need all the help I can get.

Progress on the factories was slowed as the government worked to quell this unrest. Calls were made to the Conselleria de Segureta. In the process, Casanova discovered he could now support another research project. So he called up Fabrica d'Armes Montsolís, and requested research into newer infantry weapons and tactics. Not to mention military police.
They might be able to make a stand yet.

robou and Rudie, do tell me which doctrine you'd like me to focus on if we ever get around to it.
