Probably the same amount of 'wtf's as some small western barbaric nation decided to dow the Persian empire in the 330s BC. :p

At least Alexander had consolidated Greece before DoWing Persia, so strictly speaking it wasn't an OPM :)

Vann the Red Sadly there is a difference between being Castilian and being Catholic, but I'm working on it :)

aldriq Rebels are not a problem. There are several reasons:

High stab

Courthouses

Conversions reduce revolt risk, especially with Pagan provinces

Always taking the financial/prestige hit in place of revolt. Money isn't worth much now and prestige is very easy to regain.

Carinthium SE Asia, funny you should mention that , the next update should clear things up

comagoosie Not quite that fast ;)

Jambor Swedes don't frighten me with machine guns, it's the bizarrely named self assembly furniture I worry about

Enewald I'll try, remind me if I forget

Brandenburg III 256 Inf regiments and 84 Cav - given the tech edge there isn't any real need for more (I haven't raised troops in a century). Going the other way - Ming into Western Europe needs a lot of troops by the 18th Century :D

Enewald & aldriq Alexander was a pussy, otherwise he would have taken his phalanx into the hills of Central Italy  Macedon wouldn't have had the manpower to last the pace - look at what happened to Phyrrus and no one argues he was a bad General ;)

robou It already is a Castilian world, some people are simply confused ;)

So you never bother with Artillery? Well i'm not really surprised.

unddu There's virtually no nationalism in Europe, everyone is Catholic and RR is nearly always 0. I hire mercs if I really need troops fast but normally I just ship units around - they get there in time. There are about 30k troops in Spain, Anatolia and Egypt with a few thousand more in Russia.

Harve I don't use Art because it slows troops down. Manouvre speed is far more important to me because it allows you to destroy enemy units especially timesorted retreating forces.

Beating enemy armies is more important than winning sieges.

Would it not be wise then to have mobile armies of cavalry to chase the enemy down followed by smaller bands of Infantry and Artillery to get the job of seiging done quicker? Then again, I have never been an expert at EU3 ;)

robou - It's quite possible that cavalry shock armies followed by small siege forces would work better than how I do things. Although with later Latin Tech units Infantry do matter more and more.

I'm not very good at a lot of the military stuff.

Another quick and brutal war – although assaults cost me a lot of manpower – about 40K. This is a 94 point peace deal. I’m aiming now for a drive for the coast to leave Ming’s capital isolated and the very high value coastal provinces easy prey.

Checking the advisor pool, I swap my 17 year 1* Theologian for a 42 year 2* Theologian. Hopefully the one star guy will still be around when my current set of advisors start to die (I have three 2* Theologians right now).

He was taking only a few African provinces and then started Diplo-annexing... But it is only now with that technology chart that I have realized just how few countries are left... you can beat these all before 1821 ;)

Feedback time

Enewald I do have a slight tech edge don't I ;)

comagoosie Slow growth is pre BB wars - robou has it right, the diploannexations and North Africa. The graph shows very clearly where I DA'd England then started conquering.

robou I better beat them before 1821, this is 1.3 the game ends in 1792. I expect only Ming's alliance will survive beyond 1750.

aldriq By DOWing Japan and Ryukyu I hope to take 3-4 provinces every 3-4 years. Ryukyu is a non-annexable vassel, it can't ally with Japan ;)

Sweboy Nearly but there's plenty of time

Next update probably tomorrow night

unddu Oh the WC is no problem just slow but the conversions...

Originally I thought I'd get to do half the world - I'll be way past that mark when I finish but I don't think I'll get everyone. There aren't all that many Sunni provinces left (~30) and I've already started on everything else so I want to get to three quarters of the world. Or more :D

If I fall just short of complete conversion I have a horrible feeling I'll try again
