    Regia Italia
    Return of the Italian Empire

The Italian peninsula was the birthplace of the most important and powerful empire in history. The Romans begin with a small city on the banks of the Tiber and rose to rule the entire Mediterranean coast. From the founding of the city of Rome in 756 BC to the fall of the last Roman city in 1453 AD, Romans held power for over 2000 years. Italy itself was not again reunited in the Piedmonts in the latter parts of the 19th century. After World War I, Italy was marginalized by its Allies and given scant rewards for the Italian blood spilled in the name of the Triple Entente. Now with the rise of the fascis and a charismatic new leader, Italy stives to recover her old power and glory. Will they succeed or is the task too great for the Italians? Only time will tell.

The Roman Empire at its height.

    January 1, 1936 - February 2, 1936

Here is the current extent of the Italian Empire, We hold lands in the south Mediterranean and in the Horn of Africa. An offensive is currently being launched in Ethiopia to right the wrong of defeat by Ethiopian troops in the 1880s.

The first result of our Ethiopian campaign. The plan is a simple drive straight to Addis Abbas, the only spot worth defending in Ethiopia, other forces will drive up behind the capital like a fish-hook, surrounding any troops within the capital and guaranteeing a glorious Italian victory.

A British carrier task force was spotted off the Italian coast, it seems they wish to scare us out of Ethiopia. Il Duce and the Italian Naval Command order the mobilization of the fleet and the fleet air arm. We too can play at gunboat diplomacy.

Naval Command announced the acquirement of a new Cruiser for the Regia Marina. To commemorate the event, Il Duce personally inspected the ship.

    Return of the Italian Empire

A change in goverment policy was annouced today, to reach its imperial ambitions Italy decides to be a more warlike nation.

More news from Ethiopia. The Italian army has at last reached the city of Addis Abbas. Unfortunately, rebels were spotted destroying factories, roads and anything of value to the Italians. It is estimated that the army will reach Addis Abbas in a week.

In desperation, Haile offers a peace treaty along with a few worthless acres of land. Il Duce rejects the plea and orders his troops to march faster.

An encirclement attempt is stopped by Italian troops. Ethiopian prisons are noted as demoralized and desperate. Meanwhile, the advance on Addis Abbas continues.

The Ethiopian ambassador was notified of his country's annexation. He was offered a job as Il Duce's bootshiner, which he gladly accepted.

After the pacification of the Ethiopian population, Il Duce , in a fit of strategic foresight, ordered the complete withdrawal of all combat ready elements of the A.O.I. The main reason for such a move was the completely indefensible position of the colony, which is surrounded by the British and French. These troops have been earmarked for further operations in the Mediterranean.

And your point exactly is? I hope you are aware that there are many AARs using the same country. Why? Because usually they are the ones most interesting to read about.

But then again you are entitled to you own opinion and let me mention the plain and obvious fact that no one is forcing you to read this.

So what? No need to insult someone's AAR in your second post on this forum. If you want to insult people on the internet this forum is not for you, go to Warcraft forums or Youtube.

Nothing wrong with two AARs with one silmilar goal, the means to achieve it will undoubtedly be different. If we lived by your philosophy we would be out of AARs pretty soon.

advice: pay attention to your fleet: i completely annihalated the allies on land but i couldnt get my troops to africa cause my ships got destroyed all the time.

    good luck!

    Return of the Italian Empire

Here is the state of the Italian economy as of February 2, 1936. Currently, we are focusing every avaliable asset to reinforce and upgrade the condition of the army, navy and air forces. Currently, no industrial projects are planned as of yet. But it is expected that a few conquests along the Mediterranean Sea should bring us inline with more industrialized nations (ie, Britian and Germany).

Also, minor naval reorganizations were initiated by Admiral Riccardi and the Naval Command. To make things easier on our military and logistics planners, it has been decided to commit several ports to specific types of warships and transports. So far, Phase I involves our submarine fleet.

Our research teams are partly focused on our naval forces, mostly in the areas of cruiser and carrier research. One team isresearching advanced types of agriculture to boost the population of our country. And another is focusing on developing motorized divisions, though I fail to see what horses have to do with motors.

The carrier RM Lorraine, along with its escorts the RM Bande Nere and RM Bartolomeo Colleoni were assigned to the transports earmarked for troop movements from Ethiopia.

Our oil supplies have taken a critical hit from our campaigning, our ambassador in Iran has been assigned to secure more oil assets for our growing military forces.

Wait...the carrier Lorraine? Is this an ARMA change? Italy starting with a carrier?

    Anyway, Viva L'Italia!

The official story behind RM Lorraine:

After the defeat of Germany and Austria in 1918, the Italians demanded a part of the Austro-Hungarian and German navies as reparations. The French and English refused, offering to construct a prototype ship instead. The Italians reluctantly agreed. Thus RM Lorraine was born. By 1936, the craft was terribly outdated by French and English standards but was still on active duty as a stop-gap measure until Italian technology advanced enough to allow for superior models to be build.

    Silence before the storm

Just getting stuff out of the way to make way for the colonial wars.

Mussolini ordered the immediate upgrading of Italian troops before any operations were to be engaged in the Mediterranean theatre. He has grand plans and ambitions for the Italian Empire.

Noticing that the fleet alone cannot defeat both the French and English fleets if they attacked, an order was put out for 7 squadrons of naval bombers to be constructed. No need to waste the lives of sailors when airpower can do.

In a drastic move of realpolitik, Mussolini offers the Americans a trade they cannot refuse.

2 new divisions were commissioned for the Italian Army. Another step toward Nova Romana Imperium!

Italian researchers further advance the art of war for the Italian nation. These plans will be welcome additions for the construction of a carrier fleet.

The project that has occupied Il Duce's mind for the past months, the planned invasion of Iberia, dubbed Operation Catalizzatore (Operation Catalyst). Scheduled for June 23.

I often wait for the Spanish Civil War to fire so I can have a pre-established foothold on Iberia before I continue on to total conquest of Spain and Portugal....but for story reasons I assume you'll go on that date regardless of the event-chain, no?

And have you given yourself cores on any Med. territories? Any plans to?
