Nathan Madien - True but that would give the Allies advanced warning of my fleets being in the Mediterranean and there are several American Naval bombers in the area. The Med is probably still a little too dangerous for me to operate in right now. Higashikuni does not fear a few partisans

ColossusCrusher - True but he would also probably not have survived the encounter.

Krogzar - I think they added in the manpower requirement for factories in DD v 1.2 or possibly 1.3. They certainly picked an out of the way place to target for sure. Unless snooker has changed a lot you probably had time to read and post in between shots

Beppo - Thank you. Some of my squadrons are losing experience yes, mostly the Interceptors. They can always get it back over time though. My Naval bombers are close by.

    EnglandWarrior - Correct

gooy, Kanil, FlorisDeVijfde - Losing any forces always hurts. Spain is the only way to Gibraltar, except for paratroopers, as it has no beach.

zdlugasz - I can go in many directions you are right. It takes roughly a month to redeploy and my reasons for choosing Kiev will become a little clearer fairly soon.

Jushu - All Wars end eventually

harezmi, Connavar - Changing to IC minister would boost IC a lot certainly but manpower is more critical right now and is likely to remain so.

midget_roxx - My small Submarine fleets saved many invasions against the Marianas early in the game and they are very effective at scaring off un-escorted Transport fleets

Velko, zdlugasz - I do have CA Division 1 in Tokyo but it is not going anywhere cloe to the Aleutians until I know for certain that Calhoun/Cooke are nowhere near that area. Calhoun's three Carriers would decimate my only available fleet

Blackmamuth - Suekuni's Subs can save the day, but will they?

    Update to follow ...

    0800 September 8th 1948.
BB Division 1 Flagship. IJN Fuso, Diego Garcia.
Ozawa had moved the Combined Fleet to Diego Garcia to increase it's range in the southern Indian Ocean. After a short period required for re-supply the fleet sailed once again.

The destination would be The Seychelles where an advanced Submarine reconnaisance mission had already been conducted which found the island to be lacking any defensive forces. Both gun fleets and Carrier Groups provided escort for the two Marine divisions embarked on the Transport fleet.

While the campaign in the Indian Ocean was going very well for the Imperial Japanese Navy the defence of Andreanof Island was not. After twelve hours of fighting Lt. General Imai's defence was crumbling and Suekuni's Submarine Flotilla had failed to intercept the invading fleet. An hour later, at 2300 hours on September 8th, Imai lost his fight for survival on Andreanof Island but was able to withdraw to the nearby island of Kiska which demonstrated a lack of firepower support for the American invasion.

Ichimaru and Genda finally arrived over the West Aleutian Trench at 2200 hours but were too late to prevent the overwhelming of the Japanese defences on Andreanof Island. They discovered two Transport Flotillas which they began to attack immediately. Defeating the defenders of an island was one thing, actually getting ashore with your forces was something else entirely.

Armed with the knowledge provided by the Naval bombers Suekuni was finally able to detect and close with the enemy Transport Flotillas and managed to chase them off after four hours. The American amphibious assault had turned from a decisive victory into a phyrric one in short order.

The Naval bombers returned to Aleutian Islands at 1700 hours on September 9th to try and finish off the Transport Flotillas.

They encountered Cooke's small Carrier Task Force instead which had just moved into the West Aleutian Trench. Genda would begin the attack with Ichimaru joining him a few hours later. The American Aircraft Carrier, the USS United States, would be sunk during the attacks.

The defence of the Middle East was being conducted largely by one Tactical bomber wing with small ground forces protecting key provinces. Hata had little option but to continue to conduct a mostly defensive operation in the region until more troops could be spared.

Itabana had cleared the nearest enemy troops to Port Said and had moved further south to attack an Armoured division in Aswan province. The South African tanks had little chance of advancing far even though Itabana's wing was short of three squadrons. Fukui was both escorting the bombers and providing limited ground attack assistance.

    0600 September 10th 1948.
BB Division 1 Flagship. IJN Fuso, East Mascarene Plateau.
Ozawa's invasion fleet had made good time towards The Seychelles which allowed the invasion of the island to begin shortly thereafter.

Imamura led the Marines towards the tranquil island where they were due to arrive in the late afternoon on September 12th.

Two American Destroyer Divisions tried to interrupt the landing without much succes but they did somehow manage to close with the Japanese Submarine Flotilla and sink it before they in turn were sent to the bottom. The 46th Destroyer Division claimed 55. Unterseebootsflottille before being sunk by the Battleship IJN Yamashiro, and IJN Fuso accounted for the 47th Destroyer Division.

By 2100 hours on September 10th Ichimaru and Genda had hunted down the last of the American Transport Flotillas that had tried to invade the Andreanof Islands and sank it soon afterwards.

    Intelligence Offices. Tokyo, Japan.
Japanese scientists continued to work on various research projects for Kuniaki with one group finishing it's current task on September 12th.

The Kure Naval Yard concluded research into an Improved Light Carrier and was further tasked with modernising the design still further.

    1800 September 12th 1948.
Central Asia Army Headquarters. Sevastopol, Soviet Union.
The Japanese advance westwards was still progressing well with very limited resistance and good weather allowing for easy travel for Hata's men.

Poland was quickly turning into Japanese controlled territory as the south of the Country was over run by advanced Japanese forces. These troops would have to wait for troops further north to catch up before Hata could entertain any advance towards enemy territory. So far the advance had only reached neutral Countries borders but West Germany and the American controlled Breslau were not too far away.

    1800 September 12th 1948.
BB Division 1 Flagship. IJN Fuso, The Seychelles.
Imamura's Marines captured The Seychelles at the appointed hour which would allow the Combined Fleet to take advantage of the island facilities.

In a similar fashion to the capture of Diego Garcia, Ozawa would move his fleet into the port of The Seychelles to re-supply before moving on to their next target in the Indian Ocean. One major difference would be the lack of any defending force left behind on this island as both Marine divisions were required for the next phase.

Ozawa was ready to sail on September 15th and plotted a course for Cape Masoala off the coast of French controlled Madagascar.

He arrived on September 16th and ordered a double invasion of the island to capture both parts of it in one move. Mj. General Banzai had joined the Marines during their stay in The Seychelles and led the southern invasion with Imamura leading the north.

    1600 September 15th 1948.
Central Asia Army Headquarters. Sevastopol, Soviet Union.
There remained several Soviet puppets to deal with as Japanese forces advanced throughout western Russia. None of them were expected to provide much in the way of resources as they had been delivering their excess to the Soviet stockpile for years.

Chandra Bose captured the Polish capital of Warsaw on September 15th and managed to liberate roughly ten thousand tonnes of supplies but precious little else from the Poles. He would need to rest for a few days before moving further.

Further north Lt. General Hayashi managed to find one of the few remaining Soviet controlled divisions as he advanced towards the province of Riga on September 17th. He would be forced to stop and wait for the bombers to clear the enemy Armoured division before continuing his advance. Nakajima's Dive bomber wing would oblige and allow Hayashi to continue shortly afterwards.

To the east Japanese forces were already closing in on Leningrad having captured some of the marshes to the north and west of Moscow. General Yamashita was the closest to the new Soviet capital after arriving in Demyansk. In the south Kaunas had been captured which removed another large slice of the remaining Soviet Industrial power as Japanese forces advanced towards the Baltic coast.

Well done, again! Your advances in the (mostly) former Soviet Union and Poland are more rapid than I would have thought possible. I did find it funny -- I've never seen anyone poo-pah 10,000 supplies like that....

    Good job, as always!

Question is.. do you really want to go much further into poland? Land connection with the germans would hurt.

Then again, capturing it (though maybe at great cost) and making it a puppet would give Remble a powerful ally.

I am a little bit surprised Romania is neutral.

Do you think there is a risk Romania will dow you?
If not, do you intend to dow her during your actual campaign?

Chandra Bose in Warsaw. Now the question remains: will he open a Sushi Bar or a Delhi?

In any case, what happened to the Andreanof Islands. As far as I understand, none of the US-divisions made it to the shore. However when the carrier showed up, did it stop Imai from retreating, so that you still have forces on the island or do CV not count as blocking ships?

However, Remble does not puppet and will not puppet, so waiting half year or even more will not change situation much.

Yes, but Germany was his ally at the very beginning, so that makes it different from other conquered countries.

I *think* the game engine checks (for retreating units) only on the exact moment when they (would) arrive at their destination if an enemy fleet is there. Is a fleet present the unit is destroyed, is no fleet there the unit arrives normally.

I am so curious about the further war in Europe... But at least remble would wait until there are sufficient forces in Poland before he moves towards Berlin. Or will he not? An early connection would mean a lot moving Allied units that could be destroyed by air...

That now dead submarine captain must be an idiot. Likely he was too stupid to realize that even with a huge friendly fleet nearby destroyer can easily sink him if he continues his sunbath on deck.

As usual: thanks for the update, good job

Given that Germany defeated itself, it doesn't deserve the honor of being liberated by the Japanese (who are doing all the hard work).

Hehe, I don't think snooker has changed much ever since I started watching it, roughly 15 years ago. It still has some of the same players actually. (Big Steven Henry fan here)

But the problem was your AAR is soo addictive and good to read that I miss the shots when they are finally made... so yea plenty of time to read but hard to stop for the shot ;-)

Well done with your invasion in Madagascar, be careful of the penguins ;-) They can kill soldiers without a problem

It's always these 1944 AARs that go so diabolically alternate history. Japanese troops were just not made to ever fight in Poland and yet you did it. Kudos. Will follow.

Does Remble have enogh submarines to play sentry? would he even consideer building more? (Sooner or later he would have more IC than he could use, Since he is manpower starved. (On the other hand, would remble build himself a brand new fleet? does he play with the no time limit patch? If not, how long until endgame?))

About liberating Germany. I think Nazi germany isn't under Revolt.txt, and Remble explicity stated, that there wasn't going to edit the game.

On the other hand, puppeting instead of annexing west germany, is a nice idea. Since he said "No releasing puppets", he said nothing about puppeting existing countries. Also, since puppets don't have the "very hard" penalty, he said he avoids to use puppet troops, wich kinda defeats the purpose of puppeting altogether.

that would basically force Remble for game realism, to give the former German fleet back to them? Kms Nurnberg, and perhaps some remaining submarine flotilla. Nothing that would cripple him, really.
