Austria Hungary - Thanks. I am a little thin on the ground yes. I would expect some more Canadian ships to show up as I have already sunk HMCS Warrior twice as well as most other Canadian capital ships. The fact that the Warrior has shown up for a third time would suggest the rest are going to follow.

EnglandWarrior - Thank you. The Allies have a couple of surprises in store ;)

Roman_legion - I might make a new Army but I won't totally disband an already created one. Besides, the Central Asia Army might be back there by the time the West Germans are done :)

Sokraates - I do try to keep it entertaining :)

Beppo - Thank you. My only other real option was to redeploy and invade the U.S. I wasn't about to waste two to three months doing that so Germany it shall be. I have no idea what I am doing but the Emperor has a fairly good handle on the situation and He is usually right :D

Blackmamuth - Astute observations :)

Kanil - Just a minor localised War. Nothing to worry about :)

Velko, zdlugasz - I was a little surprised it fired as it would have already done so when Germany conducted Barbarossa.

Akaki, Panzer6 - Conquer it, annex it, keep it. There will be no revival of Germany.

Monthly update to follow ...

Update (October 1st 1948)

0000 October 1st 1948.
Imperial Palace. Tokyo, Japan.

"Good morning your Majesty, Gentlemen." Hideki began the monthly meeting. "I will update our annual goals before we begin department reports.

1948 Objectives:

- Reduce the Soviet Union to less than one hundred factories and less than fifty divisions.

- Capture Moscow, Stalingrad, Leningrad, Baku and Sverdlovsk.

- Capture Soviet Energy reserves in the Ukraine.

- Reduce the Comintern to five Countries by annexing Tannu Tuva.

- Reduce the Allies to less than twenty Countries.

- Maintain the current Naval strength position by keeping the United States Navy below fifteen Aircraft Carriers.

- Capture the West Aleutian Islands.

- Capture Diego Garcia Island.

- Link Asian Armies by land connection.

There are no changes in this list but we do currently have the United States Navy below fifteen Aircraft Carriers. This measure will only be counted valid on December 30th of this year. Leningrad is close to being captured at which point we will have completed all of our objectives against the Soviet Union."

"When will we capture Leningrad?" Hirohito asked.

"October 3rd your Majesty." Tanigawa replied.

"How is your progress towards the latest plan?"

"We will not be as ready as I would like and I would ask for a delay to the October 8th deadline."

"There will be no delay."

"As you wish your Majesty. You are aware there will be losses as a result?"

"I am Minister Tanigawa. We have some room to manouver I would think."

"We do yes."

"Diplomacy first this month please." Hideki continued after receiving a nod from the Emperor.

"Good morning your Majesty, Gentlemen. Diplomatically I am ready for the 8th and I have brought along an update on our puppet Nations." Mamoru began.

oct1480000manch.jpg

"Manchukuo remains our most able puppet but both Siam and Mengkukuo are coming along nicely. I am providing as much assistance as I can by handing over blueprints for technology and sending the Siamese regular Energy supplies. Despite my best efforts I have been unable to convince them to alter their military production towards the creation of Garrison divisions but they do provide Infantry on a fairly regular basis. Nothing further." concluded Mamoru.

"Security please."

"Your Majesty, Gentlemen, good morning." Hakujiro began. "I have an update on the latest partisan levels in Australia which is where our Garrison divisions have been deployed so far this year."

oct1480000aus.jpg

"As you can see the situation is improving and I have been concentrating in the south where the majority of the Industrial Capacity is centered. We may be able to strip most of the Infantry divisions from the area towards the end of the year if we continue our progress. New Zealand will also require a few Garrison divisions at some point but we can easily contain any uprisings with the two divisions we have in that Country.

Elsewhere, China remains fairly well garrisoned but could easily use another dozen divisions. Mengukuo and Siam are providing additional forces to this area as they become available. Siberia is under control as Manchukuo is providing a large number of garrison troops to the region. Our largest problem is the Soviet Union where partisan levels are rising continually as we advance. I see no drop in the levels here for some considerable time as even annexing that Country would not help.

An estimate of the number of new Garrison divisions required to control all of our territory to a good degree would be something close to one hundred divisions. So at the current rate of production I would need somewhere in the region of ten years to bring the levels down to an acceptable number. Somehow I doubt I will get ten years, nor will the lines remain stable, so I will just have to do what I can with what I have. Nothing further." Hakujiro concluded.

"The price of rapid expansion Minister Hakujiro."

"Indeed your Majesty."

"Production please."

"Good morning your Majesty, Gentlemen. Our current production is at a very low level with a few ships and Garrison divisions all we have under construction." Ginjiro began.

oct1480000prod.jpg

"Our base Industrial Capacity increased by thirteen factory complexes all from the Soviet Union. Transport Capacity is not dropping very much as we are capturing more high partisan provinces and we are also in the middle of re-deploying a large part of the East Asia Army.

Our Energy, Metal and Rare Material stockpiles are extremely large and I see no problems with any of these resources for many years to come. Oil is not as high as I would like but is not a major concern. The large Energy reserves we now have also allow us to convert to Oil which helps the situation. Supplies were fairly low at the beginning of the month but the capture of Warsaw and Lodz, where the Polish capital relocated, have increased this considerably. We should have no problems providing our forces with extra supplies if required.

Financially our reserves are slowly decreasing as Minister Kuniaki conducts espionage missions. Our Manpower reserves remain low but increased by 4,000 during September and we should be able to continue Garrison production for some time if it remains this stable.

Our Supply needs have dropped somewhat as a large part of our Army is now static in the Soviet Union. We have ample capacity to increase Supply production if required. Reinforcement levels are small with some ship and aircraft repairs all that are required. Upgrades remain the largest need as far as production is concerned and I have been using a large amount of our capacity in this area to update our forces. This process will still take some time but it can at least begin in earnest now. Nearly all of our ground forces need at least one upgrade with a large part of our Airforce also requiring one. Done." Ginjiro concluded.

"Intelligence please."

"Your Majesty, Gentlemen, good morning." Kuniaki began. "I have had limited success with placing agents overseas but I did manage to infiltrate the West Germans again. France and Canada have small forces according to my agents but West Germany could have anything from fifty to one hundred Infantry divisions. That is as accurate as I can be with only one agent, which is not ideal given that we are marching towards East Germany and will soon have a border with the West."

oct1480000intsov.jpg

"The Soviet Union lost a further forty factory complexes in September and will lose another eighteen once we capture Leningrad. Essentially it is no longer any threat Industrially. Two more of it's research teams lost their funding as a result and they completed no projects.

They are down to only five Infantry divisions which are also no threat. Most of these are in the east and are Militia divisions. No change to Aircraft or Ship numbers."

"You can cease to report on the Soviet's from now on Minister Kuniaki. There is little point." stated the Emperor.

"As you wish your Majesty."

oct1480000intuk.jpg

"British Industry has reduced by one after we captured a factory complex in the Middle East. No research projects were completed.

Their ground forces have reduced by three Infantry divisions and their small ship count went down by two. Other than that there is no noticable change to the British Armed Forces which are clearly still being supported by additional Allied divisions."

oct1480000intus.jpg

"Industry sees no change in the United States and they also completed no research projects.

They lost seven Infantry and one Armoured division somewhere. I suspect the losses were due to their Transport ships being sunk. Three were certainly lost in the Aleutians. No real change to the United States Air Force.

Their Navy suffered badly during September. Three more Carriers were sunk with none being built and they also lost six smaller ships overall. I fully expect them to build a lot more Carriers over time but we have at least contained this growth for now."

oct1480000intjap.jpg

"My own research teams completed one project, Improved Light Carrier, and should finish at least one other in October but probably two. All done." concluded Kuniaki.

"Armed Forces please."

"Good morning your Majesty, Gentlemen." Tanigawa began. "Our progress in the Soviet Union and it's puppet States has continued to be swift with a large number of advances during September. October will see the beginning of the snow and is expected to slow our advance in some areas. We have made a little progress in the Middle East but we still have only a small force in the region. Successful invasions throughout the Indian Ocean have reduced Allied invasions in some areas and leave us ideally placed to launch an amphibious assault in southern Africa once we can find some forces to conduct it. The losses to the United States Navy have also been significant which should allow us to conduct almost any Naval operation we choose for the time being.

We will move into East Germany on October 8th at which point a new ground War is likely to erupt as we are certain that West Germany has a large ground force and it is likely to be supplimented by other Allied armies. Once we capture East Germany Operation Enlightenment will cease and a new one, Operation Influx, will begin. The full scope of this operation remains classified but we will not have long to wait before it is known. Over to Minister Satoru for more details of our progress." concluded Tanigawa.

"Good morning your Majesty, Gentlemen. Thank you Minister Tanigawa." began Satoru. "I will start with Asia today."

oct1480000asia.jpg

"Almost all movement has ceased across much of Asia with advances restricted to the occupation of Strategic objectives only. Yakutsk is the only province we still wish to capture."

oct1480000yakutsk.jpg

"We do not expect to capture Yakutsk until late October or early November depending on the weather. Our Manchurian puppet is conducting the advance and will provide a garrison force."

oct1480000europe.jpg

"Moving on to Europe we see a mass of gains for our forces as we continue to capture both Soviet and Soviet puppet territory. We advanced all the way north in one area to secure resources and we have effectively cut off all Soviet troops in the east as the capital is in Leningrad. We have no idea where it will relocate once we arrive in the city on October 3rd but we will see another large increase in our reserves after catching the Soviet stockpile. We have captured most of the Baltic States and Poland which will leave only Finland as a major line of advance."

oct1480000lenin.jpg

"The area around Leningrad shows our current line of advance. Our Armour is already on the Finnish border and has begun to move into that Country. Other than that, we are solidifying our position and it is likely that we will leave some of this territory unclaimed in an attempt to reduce partisan levels a little. We will leave some forces in the area to suppress uprisings which are inevitable."

oct1480000pol.jpg

"Clearly the most interesting region is Poland and it's neighbours. The Romanian army moved away from the border with us and is suspected to be mustering along the Bulgarian border as those two Countries are not exactly friendly. We also have troops along the Czech border which is also neutral to us. We need to capture both Cracow and Danzig to be able to annex Poland and, as you can see, Cracow will place us adjacent to the American controlled Breslau. We have no idea how many divisions are present in this area or adjacent to the East German border of Stralsund.

No overflight of West German soil is planned for two reasons. Firstly it is likely to have air patrols and secondly we do not wish the Allies to know how interested we are. Our current plan is to make a simultaneous advance into Stralsund, Kustrin, Oppeln and Cracow. All of these advances will be timed to coincide and arrive at 0400 hours on October 8th."

"Are you expecting things to become a little lively at that point?" Hideki asked.

"I expect all hell to break loose Prime Minister. We will not be fighting minor Nations at this point as we have largely been doing in the Middle East even though the forces have been British controlled. West German and American troops are all expected to be more modern than ours and they can also be expected to have a decent amount of air cover." Satoru replied.

"Just so I am sure here. You are planning to advance four Japanese divisions next to what could well be over a hundred Allied divisions and you are not going to wait for reinforcements before doing it?"

"Your grasp of the situation is accurate Prime Minister. There are reinforcements on the way though."

"A lot I hope?"

"Six divisions actually." Satoru replied with a shrug.

"I see. Well ten to one is much better than twenty five to one I suppose." Hideki said sarcastically.

"That will be enough Prime Minister. Please continue Minister Satoru." said the Emperor.

oct1480000me.jpg

"The Middle East is pretty much stable with some small advances by our forces in Egypt. No real Allied pressure has been applied in this region during September and the invasions have ceased."

oct1480000mideast.jpg

"A more detailed view shows our forces now holding Alexandria but we are still too weak to contemplate a large breakout. We are content to keep this region quiet for the time being as there are more important places to concentrate on."

oct1480000indoc.jpg

"A look at the Indian Ocean shows our advance and the ideal position we now hold on Madagascar which enables us to launch an invasion anywhere along the east African coast. We have also captured all of the small islands that contained air or naval bases which should greatly decrease Allied invasions in the Indian Ocean and Arabian Sea. Over to Minister Osami for a Naval briefing." Satoru concluded.

"Good morning your Majesty, Gentlemen. Thank you Minister Satoru. Losses have been very high during the last month but should have now peeked as the United States Navy is not likely to dispute our holdings again until it can build more Carriers." Osami began.

oct1480000sunk.jpg

"We lost two more Submarine Flotillas, 37. and 55. Unterseebootsflottille, which leaves us with seventeen operational Submarine Flotillas.

The Royal Navy lost two Destroyer Flotillas which coincides with our Intelligence reports.

The United States Navy lost a lot more. 3 x Aircraft Carriers, 2 x Light Carriers, 2 x Light Cruisers, 6 x Destroyer Divisions and 10 x Transport Divisions. The highest losses for some time and these should halt most of the American aggression of late. I think it unlikely that another invasion will be attempted against the Andreanof Islands but we do have our Naval bomber wings operating in this area now just in case.

The remainder of the Imperial Japanese Navy is in the Indian Ocean with the exception of CA Division 1 which is protecting mainland Japan. Our main fleets will head back to port for the time being to see what reaction, if any, the Allies make to our advance in the Indian Ocean. That concludes the Armed Forces report." Osami concluded.

"Excellent work Gentlemen. The next few months are likely to be a little brutal but I am sure you can handle it. Easy victories are becoming harder to achieve and in order to further expand the Empire more difficult paths must be chosen. I wish to see all of the Armed Forces Ministers in my private chambers." Hirohito stated as he stood and left followed by the requested Ministers.

Ah, isn't it cute that the partisans in Norway are still doing fine? "Sure, our country is divided into to halfs, but so what? It's only Trondheim."

"We will leave some forces in the area to suppress uprisings which are inevitabe."

You are quite optimistic with respect to your air bases (Moscow, Lublin, Torun)...

"Just so I am sure here. You are planning to advance four Japanese divisions next to what could well be over a hundred Allied divisions and you are not going to wait for reinforcements before doing it?"

Operation Influx will be very interesting. :)

Ah, isn't it cute that the partisans in Norway are still doing fine? "Sure, our country is divided into to halfs, but so what? It's only Trondheim."

The partisans are probably dead by now due to some nations air power so can't take any more land and as i doubt Norway has any divisions means they can't take it back.

If Remble has airbases void of units, that means either he's not using the airbases, or that a unit is beside the province moving towards it.

Operation Influx will be very interesting. :)

Indeed it will be.:)

I just had a thought occur to me. What do you think of tech-rushing your TACS and the escorts up to supersonic level? I just think that and a few more TAC builds would be more than adequate to deal with any allied armies and navies.

The partisans are probably dead by now due to some nations air power so can't take any more land and as i doubt Norway has any divisions means they can't take it back.

Is it possible that the partisan province isn't actually owned by Norway?

And whatever nation actually owns it has no real capacity to take it back?

Like South Africa or Brazil?
Or even better it could be Japanese (however IIRC there is Victory point there so it could not belong to Australia or New Zealand .

How nice of you to keep us entertained so well. When your intent to take on West Germany became clear, I first assumed that you would advance in a narrow corridor from Cracow to Breslau. Then the AI would have (most probably) advance through that choke point until Cracow, where it would have been greeted by an attack from the three adjacent provinces with barely pronounceable names.

When you started advancing toward Stralsund I still thought that you may want to create to corridors to make things more interesting, however advancing towards all provinces neighboring West Germany at the same time is ... daft, to say the least. Keeping the size of the West German army in mind, the operation should probably have been named Floodgate instead of Influx.

Whatever. You don't argue with a God-Emperor. However I disappointed that he had the future front reinforced by 10 divisions instead of 3 or 8. The Fearless Fourteen just doesn't have the same ring to it as the Magnificent Seven or the Dirty Dozen. Come to think of it, it should have been 3 additional divisions: The Seven Gundan instead of The Seven Samurai ... what a movie for Kurosawa to shoot.

I have also thought it will be narrow corridor (after I have abandoned thought of striking Germany through Europe's underbelly). It really might be a Flood. I can only hope that Remble will allow for elastic defense and will instantly redeploy back.

However I can not see how pronouncement of province names around Kraków could pose any problems at all
After thought I suppose that incorrect spelling using by Paradox might pose slight problems, but nothing insurmountable :)

I don't think anyone really doubts that Remble will handle this without any major problems. I've been following this from the beginning, and i remember whenever anyone have expressed doubt in the wisdom of his actions they have been proven wrong.

So far, this has pretty much been a flawless game. The only low point i can remember was loosing that level 6(or 7?) carrier in the Persian Gulf. Ouch..

To those not learned in the art of pronouncing long words with strange hissing noises instead of vowels, it can be quite challenging. With the possible exception of Kielce. Though I'm afraid that this name's written form looks much easier pronounce than it actually is.

Maybe the Emperor will issue a Vowel-Introduction-Act? Telling your troops to charge straight ahead, disregarding those irritating road signs, until they meet a wall of armed forces worked so far. However now it will be time for some coordinated movement. So actually being able to read and pronounce those names wouldn't hurt.

I can imagine the reaction of the Polish population: not "Aaaaaaaah!" but "Łłłłłłłłłłłh!". ;)

P.S.: Linguistically, this must have been quite a ride, especially for the Central Asia Army: Japanese and Chinese charms, about 40 Indian alphabets, Arabic, Cyrillic and now Latin alphabet. And that's not counting the languages.

Good progress Remble. I am really looking forward to the Soviet annexation and you beating those treacherous Germans that surrendered and left you to fight all by yourself.
