your interceptors doing great job but in Syria and Caucasus, there is no air coverage. i hope neither SU nor Allies don`t send any fighters there. once they force your TACs to land, it`s gonna be very difficult to stop them and i don`t want to think the possibility of your troops' supply routes being cut off.

after all, i think you all considered these possibilities. i`m just mentioning to learn what you think on this :)

and i believe if you capture Batum, you`ll send some extra TACs there ???

edit: this was for your Operation Lynchpin 11 update . i left my laptop for 1 hour soccer game, in the mean time you put your updates, i don`t want to waste my precious comment :)

Admiral Takasu was made aware of the approach of an enemy fleet which ensured a higher readiness for CA Division 1 should Edwards head his way. Ozawa hoped that Edwards would instead turn east and encounter BB Division 1 and its greater firepower.[/INDENT]

Oh... CA Division 1 is a bit light on firepower, yes. I'm afraid for Chitose and Chiyoda. It is so hard to get experience for naval units, it would be a great loss for the IJN should these ships get sunk.

Police will be build much faster than garrisons. Do you have need for extra Police brigades for your troops currently garrisoning China?
On the other hand you can probably use those Police in Australia as well.

Edit: How many of troops suppressing partisans in China and Australia are yours? How many can have attached Police brigade? (IIRC you can not attach Militia but can Infantry)

Ladies and Gentlemen. Fasten your seatbelts. A naval battle is coming up! Hopefully, that is. And hopefully you will have enough ships left to fight another naval battle soon. :)

Regarding Irkutsk: The soviet troops in Kyzyl must be really desperate. Maybe they thought if they don't move, you won't see them. I guess the dive bombers proved them wrong.

Maj. von Mauser - As long as I can keep the USN sending out smaller CTF's the IJN can handle them but there are always chances of losses. Tannu Tuva is not looking very secure :)

harezmi - My Interceptors finally have things under control but it took quite a long time. You are correct that I will have problems if the enemy does start using Fighters or Interceptors in Iraq or the southern Soviet Union. My TAC's have escorts though so they should be able to escape without getting mauled. Even if they stop me bombing outside of Iraq I can still kill them in Iraq as my own Interceptors can provide cover.

I don't really want to send another TAC group to the Middle East area but I will once I capture Batum if they are not needed elsewhere. They will go where the targets are.

Zvetiki - Those two ships would be a loss certainly but they are experienced enough to fight most things and escape, we shall see what happens :)

zdlugasz - I have one Garrison in China that needs a Police brigade. I can always halt the Police production when I need to so that it stays even with the Garrisons. Australia is all Japanese troops with all garrisons in China also Japanese. The remaining Infantry, Militia and Cavalry are all from my puppets. I won't be attaching Police to anything but Garrisons. Australia will get the new Garrisons first as it has the highest partisan activity and takes longer to garrison.

Sokraates - Maybe Edwards will turn around and allow himself to be bombed to death :) I wouldn't move if 8 CAS were bombing me so they are probably doing the right thing.

Update (February 1st 1948)

0000 February 1st 1948.
Imperial Palace. Tokyo, Japan.

"Good morning your Majesty, Gentlemen." Hideki started the monthly Cabinet meeting. "I will list our current objectives before we go into detailed reports.

1948 Objectives:

- Reduce the Soviet Union to less than one hundred factories and less than fifty divisions.

- Capture Moscow, Stalingrad, Leningrad, Baku and Sverdlovsk.

- Capture Soviet Energy reserves in the Ukraine.

- Reduce the Comintern to five Countries by annexing Tannu Tuva.

- Reduce the Allies to less than twenty Countries.

- Maintain the current Naval strength position by keeping the United States Navy below fifteen Aircraft Carriers.

- Capture the West Aleutian Islands.

- Capture Diego Garcia Island.

- Link Asian Armies by land connection.

Winter Army Objectives:

Kwantung Army:-
- Secure the defence of Manchuria.

East Asia Army:-
- Capture Irkutsk.
- Annex Tannu Tuva.

North China Army:-
- Capture Urumqi.
- Annex Tannu Tuva.

Central Asia Army:-
- Capture Batum.
- Capture resource provinces in Central Asia and southern Kazakstan.
- Protect Japanese interests in the Middle East.

One objective has been added which requires all of our Armies to link by land connection. The reason for this will be explained during the Armed Forces briefing. Army objectives for the Spring will be announced on April 1st and will be dependant on progress during the Winter months.

Armed Forces briefing please." concluded Hideki.

"Good morning your Majesty, Gentlemen." Tanigawa began. "The New Year has started well with no major defeats. The Pacific remains calm although there have been sporadic sightings of enemy vessels including one Carrier Task Force off Tokyo. That fleet is currently in the Arabian Sea. In Asia progress remains slow but steady and we are making progress on all fronts. The Middle East is the only area where we lost territory due to a large number of Allied troops arriving in the region. This threat remains but it has been largely neutralised for the time being."

"I trust you are taking steps to prevent further enemy fleet activity around Japan?" Hirohito asked.

"The only effective way to halt such activity is to secure one of our main objectives for the year your Majesty. The West Aleutian Islands are the only enemy base thought to be in range of Japan and we will take steps to secure those islands during 1948. Winter conditions prevent any offensive action for now. Our normal patrols give us at least some warning, and should be sufficient for the time being as BC Division 1 remains in Tokyo for defensive purposes if required." Tanigawa replied.

"That will have to do for now I suppose."

"If there are no further questions I will hand you over to Minister Satoru for the more detailed brieifing." concluded Tanigawa.

"Thank you Minister Tanigawa. Your Majesty, Gentlemen, good morning. I shall begin with an overview of Asia." Satoru began.

feb1480000asia.jpg

"We have made some territorial gains in the center and south west with progress proceeding as expected. The Kwantung Army has completed its primary objective with Manchuria very secure and defended by its own troops. The East Asia Army has secured its primary objective in Irkutsk. Troops are redeploying to strengthen that position before Tannua Tuva is attacked to secure both the East Asia and North China Armies secondary objective. The North China Army is adjacent to Urumqi and is also waiting for reinforcements to redeploy before commencing an attack. All primary and secondary objectives should hopefully be in our hands by April 1st.

The Prime Minister mentioned a new objective. The linking of our Armies is required because of a situation that has developed within the East Asia Army's sphere. The province of Borzya is stockpiling resources produced in Japanese controlled territory in this area and our puppets cannot transport it for us. We therefore require a land link to one of our stockpiles on the coast in order to move these resources. A link to Far Eastern Siberia will not be possible until the Spring or Summer and it will take time for the East Asia Army and North China Army to link up to the west of former Mongolia.

Overall, enemy opposition is weak with the exception of the area to the north of Manchuria. There is the possibility of increasing combat as the year progresses as it is logical to assume that whatever reserves the Red Army had in the west are moving east to block our recent advances."

feb1480000manch.jpg

"Manchuria has seen little change with our defensive line well established and secure. Some enemy troops are marching west from this region which should make a Spring offensive possible. There remains little to gain by advancing other than to destroy the Red Army forces and capture strategic provinces further north. Manchurian forces will form any defensive line that we establish during the year and they will most likely be tasked with the defence of the area between Lake Baikal and all territory to the east. The only reinforcements will come from Manchukuo."

feb1480000eaa.jpg

"The area to the east of Lake Baikal is shown here. Our advance towards Barguzin will provide a solid mountain defence line should it be allowed to succeed. As you can see the resource stockpile in Borzya is already mounting and will continue to increase as the East Asia Army captures Energy resources to the west. Bodaibo province, which is due north of Barguzin, is in range of Close Air Support aircraft from Irkutsk and will allow us to target any movement of forces from east to west as the Soviets move troops through that area."

feb1480000irk.jpg

"Irkutsk only has Terauchi's Headquarters to defend it for the time being but the enemy force in Kyzyl is being routinely bombed to keep its organisation low which should prevent any counter attack. Troops are already on the way to strengthen Irkutsk and Terauchi has begun to move further west to capture Energy rich provinces in the area. North China Army is advancing towards Muren and once these troops and the redeployments have arrived we will attack Tannu Tuva."

feb1480000sink.jpg

"The North China Army is meeting with some enemy opposition but not a great deal. Mountaineers have secured Qumul which is adjacent to Urumqi and we shall attack that province once redeployments arrive in Qumul. Further south we routed an enemy formation in Korla but the advance will take some time to complete. A large number of redepoyments have already completed to Yusun Bulag and these troops should be able to advance fairly soon after a decent rest period. The situation in this area is such that some forces are likely to begin to redeploy to northern India to allow for another avenue of attack."

feb1480000india.jpg

"The north Indian border remains stable with any additional troops probably moving to Peshawar to allow for an attack north into the mountains. Progress on either side of this area will dictate further moves as both the North China and Central Asia Armies advance."

feb1480000me.jpg

"The Middle East has seen some progress with advances in Central Asia and the Kaukasus mountains. We have lost some territory in Iraq but that situation is not as bad as it was at the beginning of the year and we are moving to reclaim lost territory. The Central Asia Army is still some way off capturing its primary objective of Batum and secondary objective of the resource provinces to its east. Resistance has not increased but a lack of air cover is making more combat occur as we advance. We have also landed on the southern side of the Persian Gulf in an attempt to bait the American forces in the area. So far that bait has not been taken but we have increased our Oil reserves with the capture of Doha."

feb1480000centasia.jpg

"The Central Asia Army is advancing in the east to form its defensive line which is south of the snow line. Advances are also occuring to the east to secure the final three provinces of Osh, Stalinabad and Zhambyl which would complete its secondary objective. We are tentatively considering replacing this force with the North China Army for our Spring offensive which would allow all of the troops shown to move west towards the Kaukasus mountains where they could spearhead our advance towards the Ukranian Energy reserves. East Asia Army would assume responsibility for the defence from west of Lake Bailal to Lake Balkash which is the large pond shown in the east of this map. This is still under discussion and could easily change."

feb1480000iraq.jpg

"There are still more Allied troops to the west of Iraq but the numbers are greatly reduced. There is some evidence that this may change for the worse and Minister Kuniaki will explain that reasoning. For now we are advancing to retake the north as our bombers destroy enemy divisions as they advance."

feb1480000kauk.jpg

"Our advance through the Kaukasus mountains is very slow going but we are making good progress. Capturing Tblisi will allow us direct access to Batum once those troops have rested. The move towards Makhachkala will allow us to break out of the mountains and capture Grozny which has some Oil reserves. Maikop also has some Oil reserves and is another high value target. We will be attempting to not only capture Batum but to also secure all of the mountain terrain before the Spring. The snow melts early in this area which should aid our advance.

I will hand you over to Minister Osami for a Naval briefing as I have finished for today." Satoru concluded.

"Good morning your Majesty, Gentlemen. Thank you Minister Satoru." Osami began. "The spotting of an enemy fleet in Japanese home waters was of some concern and this fleet avoided detection until a few hours ago."

feb1480000arabian.jpg

"This map of the north Arabian Sea shows its last known location and heading. Admiral Ozawa is trying to intercept it before it makes contact with CA Division 1. Should it reach CA Division 1's defensive position then Admiral Takasu will engage it with his weaker force. Losses are likely to occur if this happens but CA Division 1 should be able to inflict losses in return which will enable BB Division 1 to finish the job relatively easily. Edwards could also alter course and avoid conflict."

"What about our Naval bombers?" asked the Emperor.

"They are going to patrol this area to try and locate and attack Edwards fleet your Majesty. It is possible that his fleet may be too fast to be found before a Naval engagement occurs but the bombers would assist if that happens." Osami replied.

feb1480000sunk.jpg

"Moving on to losses, these were relatively minor. We lost nothing and the Allies only lost smaller escort type vessels and two Transport Divisions. With the exception of the impending combat in the Arabian Sea I do not expect any significant increase in losses during February. Enemy naval activity has not been noticably increased to indicate any reason for concern.

The United States Navy had fourteen Carriers at the beginning of the year and we are tracking the one above the thirteen defensive forces they retain. We will, however, be looking for a second fleet to arrive at some point as there has been an increase in the Carrier numbers during January. Nothing further." Osami concluded.

"Industry please."

"Good morning your Majesty, Gentlemen. In accordance with discussions on January 1st I began the recruitment of Garrison divisions once the research had been completed." Ginjiro began.

feb1480000prod.jpg

"Our base Industry increased by one factory and should slowly continue to increase as we capture more enemy factories. Transport Capacity has worsened due to redeployments and additional high partisan areas being captured.

Stockpiles are as stable as I can make them with the only larger loss being to Energy as Minister Mamoru sent our Siamese puppet some of this resource to allow it to operate its production at a higher level. Supplies are still low but increasing and only limited use of offensive supply should be authorised. Even with the start of Garrison production our Manpower reserves increased in January by 4,000. Our cash reserves dropped as Minister Kuniaki needed to use more than normal for some internal espionage matters.

Production increased slightly as did the production of Supplies with a drop in the need for replacements as ground combat saw almost no losses. Upgrades remain extremely high and are likely to remain so for the rest of the year. Nothing further." Ginjiro concluded.

"Intelligence last today please."

"Good morning your Majesty, Gentlemen." began Kuniaki. "I managed to acquire another agent in the United Kingdom during January and I am more confident about my report on that Country as a result."

feb1480000intsov.jpg

"Moscow lost five factory complexes in January and is going to lose a lot more as we advance. They concluded research into Mechanized Wave.

Losses for the Red Army have been relatively minor with only six Infantry and one Armoured division destroyed overall. Most of the Red Army is not close to our airforce anymore which is why the losses have dropped and probably will remain low until we can capture the forward airbases that have been targetted.

No significant developments in their Airforce or Navy."

feb1480000intuk.jpg

"British industrial output remains constrained by a lack of Rare Materials but is pretty consistant now. They finished research into Semi-Modern Repair and are currently heavily focused on projects to improve the Royal Air Force.

Their Army remains the largest outside of Japan due to a large influx of lent Allied forces from other Nations. The fact that the Infantry levels remain high means more troops are probably on their way to the Middle East. Only minor losses have occured during January but there has been a large marking down of the number smaller ships they have. This is probably due to my new agent making the reports more accurate as losses to the Royal Navy were not high."

feb1480000intus.jpg

"Industry is stable as always for the Americans. They completed four research projects. Ballistic Missile, Advanced Material Sciences, Modern Static Anti-Air and Modern Heavy Cruiser.

Their Army increased by seven Infantry and two Armoured divisions. No numbers have changed for their Aircraft even though we shot several bomber squadrons down.

There has been an increase of two Carriers as Minister Osami made comment on. The extra two are more than likely going to head our way."

feb1480000intjap.jpg

"We completed three projects. Fleet Train Doctrine, Improved Turbojet Close Air Support Aircraft and Modern Infantry Division. I expect one more to complete in February. All enemy agents within Japan have been captured as was ordered. Four were Soviet and the other two were American. Done for today." Kuniaki concluded.

"A good start to the year Gentlemen. Spring is something I am looking forward to for a change." said the Emperor as he stood and left the meeting.

It seems as if once the British start playing, they can't stop. maybe that's the reason why you won't find anyone left to defend the British Island, once you're done with the rest of the Allies.

Could you please post a map to show where the snow line currently runs in the Soviet Union? It would then be easier for to understand where your defensive lines will be and how close you are to reaching them.

Supersonic Interceptors... oh dear... :( At least the UK won't know how to use them!

Argh, I was hoping for fleet action, not the monthly update. The tension becomes unbearable! ;)

Why do you risk loosing some ships of CA division 1? In the good old starting days of this AAR all vulnerable fleets would have fled to harbours... Why not now? Fun? Entertainment? Or do you really hope to sink something?

What will Fleet Train Doctrine mean for your navy overall? How much of an better position does that put you in compared to the enemy navies?

lol Took me around 3 weeks to read all this stuff. I have to say that it's an impressive job! You not only managed to survive this long but also prevailed over the USN and the Red Army.

Great work Remble!

I think he's trying to prevent this from happening by sending in his more powerful fleet. (BB division 1)

I'm still kinda puzzled what USSR and USA actually are doing with their 1k IC. Sure USA got a large airforce, but still..

Remble you inspired me to do a 1944 Japan and its bloody ricilously hard. Mind you I am playing on Arma 1.3, and so the Americans invaded Manchuria and North China so the surrender event won't fire and the Soviets decided it would be great to DoW in August. I want to know where you get all your energy from as well.

Other than that good update

Halting will break your gearing bonus. Anyway I hope that you will reconsider and attach Police to some of your Infantry (especially now, that you will have to garrison Soviets) as well.
Your TC is so bad that it you need all partisan reduction you can get, and your manpower is low. IMO you should allow attaching Police to those Infantry that are garrisoning anyway.

as i said in one of my previous comment, i was gonna declare the day of capturing Bayan-Nur as a celebration day and i started to celebrate it. join me

26 January, 04.00am

The mighty troops of Chandra Bose entered the city in the dawn while the sun is rising in the east slowly but steady. The people welcomed the men of east waving the flags with the rising sun on it in the streets. After the communist rule, the people of Bayan-Nur, all understood the value of the men coming from the sea. Everybody was so excited that they all know this time the sons of the sun are not going to leave there.

however, Remble, don`t trust those people and just in case leave a garrison there in the first time :p they rebelled once and the probability of an event occurred at least one is more than an event never occurred before :p

and i don`t understand why don`t you just move as much as you can instead of building a defensive line. use your tactic, move once and redeploy. you can still redeploy the troops behind the lines and if your spearhead meets any resistance, they just fall back and join the reinforcements.

Nice to see all those spies eradicated.

excellent! The reading gets better and better. I really thought you'd be down a dark road when the Russkies declared war, but very nice!
