Episode VI - Triumpf
NOVEMBER 24, 1942
08:00 hrs:
The Regia Marina arrives in the Gulf of Sidra and steams towards the ongoing battle between the HMS Eagle carrier group and my precious transports.
09:00 hrs:
The Soviets once more bombs Morozovsk for 10 % infrastructure damage to slow our advance on Stalingrad!
10:00 hrs:
The HMS Eagle is mortally wounded and limps away towards Malta. The Regia Marina and naval bombers are hot in pursuit.
11:00 hrs:
German submarines arrive in Toulon.
Success!!
2. SS Panzer-Division 'Das Reich' has reached its objective in Kotelnikovo.
The path to Stalingrad is open!
At the same time the HMS Eagle is finally sunk by German naval bombers in the Gulf of Sidra!
HMS Eagle finally succumbs to her wounds in the Gulf of Sidra
I immediately set about strategically redeploying the 21 German divisions out of Stalingrad to positions at or behind the Eastern Front further up north. However, the remains of four Romanian divisions cannot be strategically redeployed - probably because Romania does not have the necessary tech?
In that case the Romanians are facing a grim fate for I am far from certain that I can keep the corridor open for the 12 days it will take them just to move to Kotelnikovo. I have to face that they are probably lost.
Still, Operation Winter Storm is a success and I have managed to save 21 German divisions that will live to face the Red Horde again. I am pretty pleased with the result.
12:00 hrs:
The 'Das Reich' division is fiercely counterattacked by 10 Soviet divisions in Kotelnikovo! It is a pointless fight that can only have one outcome. I stop all advances into Kotelnikovo by other forces, withdraw Pannwitz's armored division and switch all Luftwaffe forces to Ground Attack to kill as many of the moving Russians as I can.
Since the redeployment will kill my TC for about a week, I order other redeployments in France to begin. A few infantry divisions are moved to shore up holes in my Atlantic Wall and some prepare to go to Africa.
The Romanian bombers on Sardinia are now in supply and are ordered to make logistical strikes against North Africa as well.
14:00 hrs:
A Japanese fleet arrives in Fukuoka
The Red Air Force bombs our forces in Armavil
The Red Army attacks the Romanians stuck in Stalingrad...
While the Romanians are defeding themselves they are not moving out of Stalingrad. It is hopeless for them.
17:00 hrs:
China Fleet (IJN) arrives in Manila.
20:00 hrs:
Kotelnikovo is back in Soviet hands. Stalingrad is now surrounded again.
The Romanians in Stalingrad are selling their lives dearly, as the Russian defenders did before them.
22:00 hrs:
Three divisions of Italians from Sicily begin embarking in the troop transports off the coast of Palermo. The remaining British ships are hiding in Malta.
Up next: The fate of Stalingrad

Fantastic! Those divisions, once reinforced properly, will surely more than make up for the hassle of rescuing them.

Well those romanian divisions lacked any real strenght, so losing them isn't that awful really. Shame that they didn't get out though, but I guess this is poetic justice as the romanian flank broke early in RL and left the germans to their fate, now the tables are turned.

wow, i'm glad to see that the german forces made it out of stalingrad!
it's a sad thing about those romanians, but still they were very understrength and the german units were priority.
the 'Das Reich' commander and men deserve a round of applause and some medals methinks
You know who also deserves a medal, Adolf Hitler, for allowing a retreat.

I'm hoping to start writing a narrative AAR of my own sometime soon. Any suggestions?
Well, this is a gameplay AAR - not a roleplaying AAR.Originally Posted by diziziz

Uff, it worked. German Dunkerque with equally good ending![]()

very nice! I thought u might fail with the breakout. Good job
Good job, but poor Romania, Stalingrad was no less of a loss for them. Hopefully that'll be the end of their string of bad luck, that is to say of the Axis' in general. On the brightside they'll raise better equipped divisions to replace them.

I just started reading this AAR and I am glad there is more-or-less an happier ending to the Stalingrad situation.

You got the divisions out of Stalingrad! Well done, now to organise a coherent defence!

why didn't you get the Romanina to retreat out of Stalingrad.
love the idea of playing all of the Axis, have donemuch the same for the allies and just got swamped by the amount of troops and everything- my own stupid fault for withdrawing 3/4 of the French army to england.
keep up the posts please i'm really enjoying this one.
