Although I'm reasonably certain DVIP is not involved--since testing with it uninstalled resulted in the same error--the fact that someone else in the DV Beta Patch bugs thread seemed to have exactly the same thing(with the same number or so of errors in one day) and had DVIP installed(though they were using More Kingdoms, which I'm not) makes me want to go ahead and post it here.

Here's the error:

Unfortunately I wouldn't know where to begin using that to find the cause of the problem. The DVIP by itself should be as least as stable as an unmodded DV, as I don't use many new events and those that are included, all use commands similar to vanilla events.
The only reason I can think of why DVIP would be less stable, is that the scenarios have far more characters than the vanilla game. And since every single character event is checked every single day for every single character, alive or not, that means that a DVIP scenario is harder on the system than a vanilla one.

Yup.

It seems XP users get these crashes far more often than Vista users, and the game also crashes more if music is turned on, but that's all I know of.
For me CK-DV is extremely stable on both my Vista x32 and Vista x64 boxen, with the last beta. With CK-DV vanilla I had crashes every few months though.

Some other things I've noticed lately:

- Pomeralia doesn't have its own CoA, it still uses the Spanish March one (it looks like there is a French Duchy in the Baltic if it's ever established).

- Playing as Novgorod in the Third Crusade Scenario causes some weird things. First of all, it seems to assume you are an AI player. You can't go into debt, can't hand out Duchy titles, etc.

The County of Novgorod is also selectable in the Duchy roster, just below the Duchy itself (they are the same character as well.)

This is with the More Kingdoms add-on.

Pomeralia's CoA is a base game thing... I'll check if I can find a better CoA for it.

Novgorod I'll look at. I probably forgot to assign the correct ruler in one of the four places.

Just a quick note that playing as orthodox I got an event for more troops or mercenaries? I dont know it was UNKNOWN string wanted thing all over the message box. I use latest DVIP+more kingdoms on top of it

And another question - I read that you removed Byzantium as recreatable and put latin empire etc instead.. Does this apply to 1066 scenario?

Do you remember what culture these mercenaries are?
I did add a few mercenary companies, but they should have event text.

Byzantium is no longer unrecreatable in More Kingdoms (if you're using the last version), it just didn't work well. The COAs for Latine Empire (Romania) and Nicaea are still in, but I don't use them at the moment. I hope to use them for a future 1204 scenario.

Well I played as Pereslavl (sp?) and took volga bulgaria, then gave it to a Bulgarian orthodox ruler

and started playing as that. I can't really say what culture were they but the units looked frankish/occitan.

Otherwise great job! I admit on my patheticly poor PC - 256SD ram, 1.3ghz Duron, and Gefoce4mmx I hadn't had a single crash for now

(also for 200 years gameplay in DV)

But for some odd reason on my dual-core laptop there are fatal errors lol

If you click on the regiment, you can see the culture. Every mercenary group has a specific culture and unique name, all with three different levels of strength. Which event (and thus which company) you get depends on several factors such as religion and realm strength.

If this happens again, please note the culture and number of men. In the mean time I'll test the mercenary events by manually firing them, to reproduce it.

I've discussed it in the More Kingdoms thread. Basically the main issue is that with BYZA gone as the natural liege, once the Byzantine dukes or counts become independent they never repledge, so the Turk can conquer Byzantium far too easily. I've actually seen the title disappear a few times.
