Well, it's a big deal to me. I just purchased CK and DV. It cost me a total of about 40 bucks, all told. 40 bucks is 40 bucks. At the very least, I'd like a partial refund....even a credit to go toward the cost of Rome would be appreciated, or a free copy of NA. How about Paradox? Do they even read these posts? :(

At least the lead developer Johan reads the forums regularly. He just doesn't post all that much. Also King, their community manager, generally knows what is going on.

2. Speaking of priorities, I doubt that fixing DV is high on Paradox's own list of priorities : its programmers also have a main job (Europa Universalis IV ?), a family, books to read, and other sources of leisure.

Paradox is again making money from Crusader Kings thanks to Deus Vult, so the game is again up in their priorities. For instance today has been their Deus Vult patch-work day.

I have found that province event 9007, cultrural conversion causes a fatal error crash.

Happy to read that. I stand corrected. Thanks for the info.

I am afraid that without somesort of cast iron way to reproduce these crashes these log enteries don't help much. If you have a line of code in your log then we have something to work with.

I am quite surprised you have such an efficient way to log crash address and can't make use of it. Haven't you keep a copy of the mapfile? Using a mapfile to find the function or even the line number corresponding to the crash address is really easier than it sound.
If you do not have kept the mapfile corresponding to the distributed exe, maybe you still have an exact copy of the code somewhere to generate a new one.

And... by the way... :D
Code:

This happened when trying to save my game. I was playing as France, and it was still 1069: all I had done was send the king's brother as a fosterling to a different court, fought a minor war with a rebellious vassal of a vassal, married Agnes d'Aquitaine and gotten a rivalry with her father.

The exact text is as follows:

######## EXCEPTION: 0xC0000005 at address: 0x004C6A65: ACCESS VIOLATION read attempt to address 0x00000000

SymGetLineFromAddr(): GetLastError = 126
SymGetLineFromAddr(): GetLastError = 126

I hope some fix is discovered soon.

EDIT:

I just loaded it again from an autosave, which was before the small war and the rivalry with Agnes' father. The game ran well until the king made a friend, then, just a few game days after, the computer froze and I had to restart it completely. I think I'm not going to start the game up again until a patch gets out there.

EDIT:

I am currently playing it again, this time with all programs usually running in the background (like virus scan, etc) shut off, as someone else had already done. It is currently stable - though I haven't done anything related to the ledger or the friends/rivals system yet.

EDIT: Having made a friend and a rival without crashing I can safely say I think the background programs were the culprit.

EDIT, YET AGAIN: But it came back when I tried to give a ducal title to someone who became my vassal after I took another (Not the same) ducal title from someone in a war.

StackWalk not initialized.

I get it regularly on one computer, most often on pressing OK for assasinations or sending fosterlings. However, my other computer hasn't had any at all.

I'm getting a bunch of these too, and never when I'll be doing anything specific. I'll just be going along on the map screen and then boom, the game freezes. This didn't start happening until recently, both in play and in game-time. Funnily enough, when I load a different country and play off of that save file, it goes along just fine.

More of the same... If I do not save manually every month - sometimes during the second or 3rd month after the last save it will happen... I haven't noticed anything ledger related.

I'm really pissed off at Paradox, to be honest. I purchased both CK and DV together early in October, and haven't been able to play DV at all since, thanks to this crazy fatal error bug. CK works just fine, interestly enough. I've emailed Support@Paradox weeks ago, but, surprise surprise, nobody ever replied back to me. I basically feel as though I've been ripped off for 15 bucks. I asked for a store credit or my money back....I guess that isn't going to happen. Maybe a patch will come out. But, when I pay for a game, I really would like to play it THEN, and not have to wait months for a patch. Regardless, this will be my last Paradox product purchase. :(

After a few hrs of playing, ditto. Intense and constant lag followed by eventual CTD (pretty much everything I would associate with a memory leak or runaway script ..)

Has everyone who has posted on this thread actually run a memory check?

Because I know for a fact I have a bad address at 417mb.

Fairly sure its an event that is triggering this ..

I reloaded my save games (two different ones) and every time the CTD occurred it was to the sound of trumpets.

I got this series of fatal errors from one of my savegames, which crashes reliably on a specific day(in this case May 27th, though I doubt that's relevant), like a few other people have had happen.

Am I right in assuming that the StackWalk() function has something to do with troop movement? Because I was at war and moving troops when this crash occurred. I may try stopping troop movements in that save game and seeing if that is the problem.

Also, I would be happy to send the save file in, if wanted. But it sounds like you've already got a file that reliably crashes in the same way.
