Back on the game and forum after being diverted to some other priorities :)

OK, gonna post some screenshot of my breakout from Istanbul into Europe. I find my grunts marching faster than I thought. Looks like they are helped by the 80-100% infra in Europe. Offensive started April 16th.
Annexed Romania by Apr 21st. For faster troop movement, I land troop on Romania directly from Blacksea amphibious landings. Romania has a lots of plain terrain where marching is a breeze to take me directly to Hungary.

Bulgaria though smaller took a week longer to annex on April 27th due to mountaineous terrain.

The bulk of my force that blitz thru Romania completed the annexation of Hungary by May 10th. I was surprise that when I annex Hungary, the Hungarian troops that I thought will vanish into thin air became German troops instead! Holy cow! Not sure why it does that, perhaps those units are already loaned to German as so far I recall seeing German leaders in charge during the battles. Anybody can clarify this?

Have you met any resistance yet?

Yep, there are some reasonable resistance after Hungary as I strike towards Berlin especially from former Poland teritories. I could not attack a threatening 9-stack German army until I muster enough troop to outnumber them 2-1 due to their high org! Otherwise I will keep attacking any adjacent German units that numbers 1-3 divs that appear on my flanks as I head north-west towards Berlin.
And finally on May 27th less than 2months after start of Europe campaign, Berlin fell to Mao himself of the 1st Long March Army. :p

Very interesting reading Thundergate!
What's happening at the SU/German front as you rush through Europe?
What's your plan with SU (now that they seem to be able to recover)?

Looking forward to see the end of this :D

Have manage to keep German forces at bay on the eastern front by loose wall of mobile offensive defense. Just attack any German forces that come adjacent to my teritory before they build up in numbers without advancing into their teritory. Whenever any province is under attack from stronger enemy numbers, I utilise "support defence" command on my larger army formation to quickly move in at double the normal speed. Have at least two 9-div stack defending the eastern line and a several loose corps and div size troops filling up the gaps.
Defensive lines east and northern Italy marked by dashed green line on map while path of the advance in yellow.

Yes, realize I could put the entire German in the Russian into out of supply situation if I cut off their new capital at Konisberg (the LARGEST pocket ever) but I afraid Russians will roll over them and reclaim back their teritory. Mao's vision is to rule from Atlantic coast to the far reaches of Moscow and Stalingrad, too bad for Stalin :p Have already occupied Baku after wrestling it from German to enjoy the spoils of war or should I say "spills of oil".
However I didn't expect German to move their capital all the way to Moscow when I took Konisberg! The SU/German frontline is kind of static as German has no longer have the ability to push forward after I destroy probably 100 of their 250divisions.

Have pinned Wehrmacht forces against the northern shore, and finish them off in three encirclements in Poland, Denmark and northern France in Jul-Aug timeframe. However some Panzers retreating from Denmark straits crosssed over to Sweden! Sweden has given German right of passage agreement! The Swedes! Mao have only intended to project his influence to Europe mainland and has no plans of extending it to Scandanavia. But now, he is left with no choice. Bwahahaha!... punished with annexation by Sept 17th.

Wish to wrap up Europe before winter fall and focus on the Mediterranean threatre of Italy and Spain in Q4 of '42. On the way to Italy, the Swiss looks menacing with almost 20 divisions on level-5 hill/mountain-top bunkers provinces. So juz gotta teach these market liberals whose boss, ahem! :) Lesson taught and class over by Sept 22nd.

Finally Mao is finished with the mainland Europe campaign after annexing Italy and Spain. Annexing Vichy is troublesome, I have to do an amphibious on a province in South America to get the job done but I have to annex Spain first to access one particular Naval base in Atlantic to get required transport range. Anyway all done by Feb 1943 and I now turn to German forces in occupied Soviet.
Have one big question. I have conquered a some of Soviets provinces including Baku by kicking out German occupiers. What happen to these provinces that I indirectly grabbed from Soviets if Bitter Peace is to fire? It's unlikely though since German IC's is ~30 supporting 200 divisions but need to know. I am not an ally of Soviet.

You can abandon doctrines - just click on a reseached doctrine (make sure its not one that allows you access to other doctrines you've already reseached) and you'll see a button that allows you to abandon it.

As for the bitter peace, I believe germany or Vichy frace have to hold Paris for the event to fire, so you don't need to worry about that.

I get to choose my doctrine, it was not defaulted to any particular doctrine such as Firepower focus. I recall it is human wave.

Good to hear BP won't fire since Paris is off German's hand. Thks!

They didn't reach sverdlovsk either. Just 2 questions:

1. What is this "Portugal"?
2. How much skill/exp does Mao have?

Anyhow, way to bring Socialism to Europe and put an end to that wretched hive of Imperialists :D

Nor Leningrad :)

Did I say Portugal? I choose to leave Portugal alone as they are not Nationalist like Spain. Morever they got some far flung provinces in Africa that I'll need to take if I were to annex them.
The last time I check Mao's skill when I took Berlin was it is still stuck at 3 which I believe is starting skill. It seems to be raising so slowly?? Others newbie FM's have far higher skill/XP than him. I think he's probably reaching his max skill already. I need a lot of Generals and FMs as Commie as I have lack of leaders and each need to lead 9 divisions.
The way I rapidly train one up is by promoting a leader with with good traits (eg Logistic+Offense) say from Maj-Gen to Lt-Gen, and engage him quickly in combat where his XP will raise quickly when skill is low eg 0 or 1. The moment he can be upgraded, I do so and continue engaging him in combat. It's like 1 hour of battle increase 1XP at level skill 1 I think, faster when skill=0. A couple days of overnight combat using disposable militias at several fronts will generate a reasonable level 2 General in no time. Most of my Gen/FM are level 3-4.

But the starting of the game looks much easier with NatChi hence i played ComChi. I don't want to start the game with enormous IC base as you will just steamroll over the AI even with DAIM.

Ok, how did you start off as Com Chi? I'm guessing deccing Shanxi before the Marco Polo Bridge event, and grabbing that 6 IC province and the one with energy next to you asap, abandoning your 2 worthless provinces. And then from there wait for the Japs to come and grab whatever you can before backstabbing Japs?

Edit: Wow, ok, allying with Japs 4tw, since you get all of China when China surrenders. Awesome.

The AI's FMs have better skills because they are autopromoted, without loss of skill, from lower ranks.

Once as ETH (DD 1.2 or 3) I managed to get Haile Selassie from skill 2 to 4 in the campaign against ITA, which ended halfway through 1938.

The problem is, likely, that Mao's army just dominates everything you throw it against, making combat short.

OK, I start off bywaging war against the western frontier to take on Xibei and later sinkiang, annexing both. Could barely even build militia at the start as my IC is <5 due to -20% difficulty penalty so I have to grab those provinces that has IC. Was at war at with shanxi as well where I took the two provinces to the east as well. Did not abandon home province as they are defendable. Break Xian peace treaty event with CHina so I was always at war with China and her allies as I don't want to sit back. Then Japan came for China. After China is annexed by Jap, I have already capture China's interior capital Chungking, which is MP and IC rich. Jap declare war on Comchi after China annexation. China was later released by Japan as puppet. Kick Jap out of China mainland and push them north and out of the continent entirely thereafter.
Knowing that I did not have a navy to take on their home isle, I accepted their peace where I demanded some province in their home isle and Taiwan. From here I build TPs to txfr my troops to these provinces and build my army for two years till peace treaty expires. Declare hostilities again after that and got Japan annexed by mid '41 denying US entry into war as there is no Pearl Harbor as Mao wants Europe for himself :)
Yes, I did release Korea else I have to cede back those teritories to Japan during peace negotiations. Need Korea as to travel back and forth from Japan. With the eastern theatre secured, Mao turn west.

Its now early 1942 in my game. Just took out turkey. Fighting a 2 front war vs axis, as AI Italy is the most powerful I have ever seen. They totally destroyed UK in africa and just annexed Iraq. Got bored of pure infantry so am now 6x spamming Mech '43 + AC2. My army atm is about 3/4 '41 inf and 1/4 '41 mountain, about 180 total divisions. Anyways, mobile forces are fighting italy in the middle east while main army and mountain forces just annexed bulgaria and romania. Germany nearly has bitter peace but is sending lots of forces back to stop me in the balkans, where I have about 100 divisions. Awesome game, most fun ever possibly, its so damn hard doing everything with no airforce or navy.

Upon the thawing of the snow in May, Mao rampage the German occupied Soviet teritories with the aim of seizing Moscow and Stalingrad (for himself that is, ain't for uncle Joe).
Joe Stalin began offensive as well from the east and I was worried he gonna reach my objectives first. Mao troops on supply offensive met up with Soviets approximately at River Volga netting more than 80% of the Soviet teritories and seizing the two cities and Germany is annexed by Jun '43.

With that Mao controlled swath of land from Japan Pacific Isle thru central Asia, middle east, Eurasia, Europe to Spain with small holdings in Africa and South America. Satisfied, Mao retires to Switzerland for a break, where it is very much like to his home province Yanan i.e. mountains with level5 forts! :)
