This thread is intended to start with a brainstorming of how the tech tree should be.

It should Start in Late WW2 (1944/45)

Well this is how the infantry tree will be configured:
Infantry <--> NATO Infantry
Mechanized Infantry <--> Warsaw Pact Infantry
Motorized Infantry <--> 3rd World Infantry
Cavalry -- Unchanged (except years of course)
Mountain -- Special Forces Division (Delta Forces, Rangers, Spetznatz...)
Marines -- Unchanged
Garrison -- Unchanged
Airborne -- Unchanged

I know that it can appear a very radical change, but don't worry because you will still be able to mechanizate a division with an APC attached brigade.

Well, NATO Infantry Included:

Updated with all the infantry types of the mod.

I'm not involved with your mod but I'll still make a suggestion

Shouldn't USA have some of those techs deactivated at game start??

Why not make the difficulies for each skill set 10 because of the lenght of the game period?

A pity, however if you would like to join you would be welcome.

Yes they should, but please we need time to make it, because the initial techs for each country isn't a priority right now.

Thank you! that's a good idea.

looks good so far! once you get the trees done, will you disable the wrong infantry for each nation (so USA can ONLY build nato infantry, USSR can only build warsaw pact infantry, etc)?

btw make millita a second line infantry, you can call it reserves or something

Ahem, the Neutral infantry (infantry for those non alligned countries the weren't part of the third world) is using that one.

Of course.

is the cavalry going to be horse cavalry or helicopter (air) cavalry?

Well, i have some kind of dilemma here because i'm thinking about replacing some useless brigade with a transport helicopter brigade (increasing the speed greatly together with the fuel consumption) available to most kind of infantry (except the cavalry), so i think that it is neither horse nor air, it's exclusively armoured cavalry (equipped with armoured cars... etc), the air cavalry should be quite well represented by the transport helicopter brigade (and, i don't know yet, but perhaps i will replace other brigade with an "attack helicopter brigade")

I think CAS units should represent helicopter fleets, or else a mixture of close-support fighter jets and attack helicopters.

Otherwise, in order to make room for the increasing proportion of advanced technology (cruise missiles, electronic warfare and such), units close to the end of the tech tree should be very powerful but also very expensive, shouldn't they?

About the CAS, i don't think that attack helicopters should be represented in a CAS because they did not act independently, they stayed near the front almost during all the war, so i think that we better represent helicopters as brigades (perhaps replacing the escort fighter brigades because... well because that concept began to decline in the mod timeline) and leave the CAS divisions for planes like the A-10.
