Now my production window

First I decided to expand my industry to reach levels allowing another techteam as quickly as possible. All new factories will be built in Warsaw because this way the new IC points are available much earlier than in any other situation.
production1935.jpg

After Infantry 1936 was researched I started recruting garrison divisions. Will be useful to eliminate partisans and keep some areas secure from other dangers. I am thinking about the Sudetenland with its mighty 8 lv forts. I need something with very high org to keep the defenders fighting as long as possible.

COMMENT

You will notice that there are some differences between some images. Well... I had to replay the whole campaign after I annexed Czechoslovakia because I discovered I didn't get their techteams... I forgot to confirm the changes I wanted (techteam takeover) so I played again and won even faster.
I also decided no to replace my losses so the Reserve Army had 30% strenght divisions all the time... This way however I recovered much quicker from my dissent caused problems and even managed to spare enough money to keep the research running even despite the total expansion of industry took 200 from my cash.

Later I played in a normal way - no restarting.

Won't the industrial expansion help make up for the -200 in cash anyhow?

I works in three phases - each one year after another

1 - some infra in one province

2- 2 IC in one province + some infra in few others

3 - 10 IC in 6-8 provinces, much infrastructure, metal, energy, rare material poll rises to + minus to industrial buildup.

All addons are somehow random (areas) with fixed size of the new IC, but for next 2 years my economy will suffer - which means that I cannot afford a serious conflict untill 1938. :(

Chapter Seven - 'Operation Kettler '

extracted from top secret orders fromg Section II of General Staff.

Objectives of Operation Kettler.

Primary

1) Securing transfer of intelligence 'special' operatives to Latvia.

2) Insuring that the Lavians will intercept the 'orders'.

Secondary

1) Sabotage in Kaunas, Memel ad other targets in Lithuania.

=======================================================

Wilno/Vilnius 28th February 1935

'... standing here to commemorate great acts of heroism during the war in 1919-20 I feel great pride that I fought during that war. It will always be remembered that so few...'

400 meters away.

Walery Slawek - 'Are you sure it will work ?'

Józef Pilsudski - 'I have never been more certain in my life'.

WS - 'But the Lithuanians might notice the danger...'

JP - 'Yes, but they will not see through the propaganda ranting we started.'

WS - 'Rydz-Smigly was a perfect choice for the speech...'

JP - 'and an obvious one. We need some brute force and someone to make them compelled to respond.'

WS - 'Perhaps Smetona will agree...'

JP - 'He cannot. 'Iron Wolf ' will eat him alive if he does. THey are beaten, but still dangerous and he cannot risk it...'

WS - '... so war'

JP 'Yes, war...'

'...and now in this place I am calling the Lithuanian governemnt to abanon any claims they have for our territories. I am calling for a peaceful solution !'

=========================================================

With the worsening international situation in the north Polish governemtn decided to deploy a number of soldiers in the local area to secure Polish interest.

northernwar1.jpg

After Lithuania refused to abandon its territorial claims the crisis became much more dangerous.
balticwar1.jpg

3 infantry divisions ( with army HQ) and one cavalry brigade were deployed in Wilno.

Another 3 infantry, 2 mountain and 2 cavalry great units secured the nothern border in Swieciany.

Both armies were commanded by most experianced commanders of the Winter War
balticwar2.jpg

In contrast to the winter weather political situation was becoming worse and worse.
balticwar3-weather.jpg

Finally after Lithuania refused all demands of Poland and accused it for sabotage and destabilisation of its internal situation was was started...

balticwar4.jpg

Soon the local conflict became a major war when for still unknown reasons Estonia and Latvia declared war against Poland.
balticwar6estonia.jpg

Soon Polish forces crossed Dwina and entered Latvia
balticwar7.jpg

Europe was shocked when Germany attacked Estonia, probably trying to grasp the opportunity to change post-Versailles order in Europe
balticwar8hitlermovesin.jpg

War against Lithuania was quickly resolved
balticwar9lithuaniaends.jpg

Victorious Polish army moved to the north trying to end the conflict before someone else is involved.
balticwar10.jpg

Soon they met Estonian infantry coming to help Latvia
balticwar11.jpg

But with little results... Soon Tallin itself was under attack
balticwar12.jpg

After Polish cavalry conquered Estonian capital only the valiant defenders of Riga remained.
balticwar13tallinandriga.jpg

Only hours remained before the defenders of Riga capitulated...

Soon whole baltic area was in Polish possession....

COMMENT:

I planned the war to be started as soon as the wether allows it and my dissent drops to zero.

One thing made me re-consider.

This was the research of PEACE WAY.
balticwar4.jpg

The main issue is that it decreases dissent by 5 POINTS so earlier DOW de facto allowed quicker recovery. ;)

EPILOGUE

========================================

It seemed that the League of nations will stay silent again and nothing will happen in Europe in 1935.

But before the Baltic War was ended...

What do you think about THAT ?

Personally I was stunned.... Shall I 'consume' my breakfast ???

Are you allied with France right now? If not I say go ahead and do it so you can crush germany where they stand. And when you're done, leave the alliance. Though I wonder if you have the troops required to pull it off. :X Hopefully Germany doesn't have that many troops yet.

Wait for the germans to send their troops to the west, attack them, after you make some progress, join the allies.Victory shall be easy :D

To tell the truth I played to 1937 the question is should I really proceed now ?

Backstabbing Germany seems so dull and unfair.

Before deciding to write this AAR I played with Poland once and slaughtered Germany, although in 1939-40 (as well as Hungary, axis Austria, Yugoslavia, Greece, Bulgaria and Romania) - most on my own - and later destroyed the SU in 1946.

Now the question is simple do you want my report from 1935-37 or should I play from this point (1935) differently i.e. without attacking Germany ? ;)

Personally, I would like your report from 1935-37.

CHANGES+CHANGES+CHANGES+CHANGES+CHANGES+CHANGES+CHANGES+CHANGES+CHANGES

mod's 34 version 0.20 has been released

I was wondering if it is worth replaying the whole campaign , but fortunatelly it seems to be all to continue my saved campaign with 0.20 installed over 0.10.

Of course I will miss the fixed Polish government

NewBitmapImage-8.jpg

and some evens linked with it, but at least the new teams for Poland I proposed are here, so are most of other changes from 0.20 so I will carry on with the current campaign and conquer the world or die in the attempt. ;)

Additional comments/changes.
===============================

Ships - AA cruisers present in the mod - initially I thought to leave them completelly or name tham the way I will do with CLs, but suddenly I thought that POland had one almost-AA cruiser during the war actually...

I mean the large DD 'ORP Blyskawica' ( Grom class) which got 8 102 mm AA cannons this way becoming quite similar to Japanese AA DDs Akizuki-class.

I think it will be a good idea to use the names of Polish DDs somehow in the mod. So I will name my AA cruisers after them starting with real Grom-class destroyers - either built ( ORP Grom, ORP Blyskawica) or in initial stage of construction ( ORP Huragan, ORP Orkan - both were to be built in Gdynia in 1940).

I know some of you may think it is a little too early to plan such details or simply silly/overoptimistic - but worry not, you will see... especially after I update the AAR.

Internal policy/puppet states etc

For now I will keep all annexed countries under direct controll - mainly to avoid unnecessary risk from either Germany ( Munich event) or the SU ( Baltic states), I also wat to rise my IC before that - I really need this 20-33 % from occupied IC...

Finally I will try to make it realisitc so releases will happen after invisible negotiations with the new puppet governments with possibility of territorial gainst to Estonia, Latvia...
I still do not know what to do with Lithuania - it always startes with my Wilno so they will either stay occupied or I will release them and trade Wilno for for example Konigsberg - I need as many national provinces under my direct controll as possible.
Besides I won't leave a region with so Polish large majority to overzealous Lithuanians - wouldn't work in reality...

One more thing.
As soon as Germany or SU is defeated I will shift towards more democratic internal policy - without the danger caused by both states there wouldn't be any need for authoritarian or semi-authoritarian policy after all.

OK. That would be all. I need to prepare some relable excuse to attack Germany and add one or two words about the tragic event which happened in 1935...

To those few who read this AAR - stay tuned. Today or tomorrow I will add the massive update about the war against Germany. :D

CHAPTER EIGHT - 'THE PREVENTIVE WAR'

Senatspräsident of Freie Stadt Danzig Arthur Greiser cursed once again the moment when his arch-rival Albert Maria Forster learnt about the new orders from Berlin... This f**** coward how did he learn about the message ? Rather rhetorical question he reminded himself - he after all created NSDAP structures in Danzig so the whole city is swarming with his spies... even here. Or rather ESPECIALLY here.
Ehh the joys of leadership in the Third Reich - everyone tries to backstabb everyone. Nevertheless Forster knows and tried to stop him. Of course he will not succeed - that would be a horrible humilation and Himmler certainly wouldn't like this... NO delays this time, it is his chance to prove his worth to Fuhrer himself ! Greiser may mumbel about poles getting a pretext for war, but it means only one thing - he still is the same coward he was in 1932* - these filthy sub-humans will not even see it coming - he smiled to himself.

===========================================================

So called Bydgoszcz incident meant rapid decline of already unfriendly relationship between Poland and Germany. Both states exchanged diplomatic notes, but still only some people could predict what was coming...

========================================================

So I decided to DOW Germany. The main issue was how strong is the enemy and if my 18 infantry and cavalry can beat him. Another question was how soon/if I can join the Allies - their tasty blueprints would give me much necessary help in improving my army, industry, airforce and navy which I will need ultimately.

First I moved to the intelligence activities. I had to expand my network to get more or less reliable information how large is the German army...

Fortuanatelly the news were quite... optimistic. The problem was if that was reliable enough and if those divisions are capable enough to stop my forces.

intellreport1935.jpg

'Almost sure' - so I can count on enemy using at least 12 infantry divisions. Fair enough, we can deal with it. :D

Third war in time of less than 12 months since I have started, not bad.

Of course some progress in technology was made too

technologynextstep.jpg

At that time even a single division was not upgraded to '36' level so every single technology researched before mattered even more - this one increases attack and defence of most of my divisions.
At that time I also militarised my economy giving me noticable growth of IC, though slowing down research speed...
See I am researching for Chemical industry - it is basically the essential part of all oil-related researches and is very important to rise serious airforce, mechanised force, navy and build more advanced industry - so basically it is a must to get as soon as possible.

========================================================

Before the war was started terrible news stunned the whole country. ON the 12th May 1935 Józef Pilsudski - the father of the Second Republic died from liver cancer. The whole country mourned - without any doubts one of the greatest Poles ever left this world.
Untill the death of John Paul II Poland never seen so much tribute given to anyone.

At least his plans of preventive war against Hitler will come true.

========================================================

It took a while before I was able to redeploy my army and even more to join the allies - the British refused 3 times before I succeeded, bloody hypocrites. ;)

The moment I joined the alliance I went to the war as well. Excellent !

warwithhitler1.jpg

First moves were quite obvious.
With eastern border exposed the main issue was to capture most important areas before enemy counterattacks could be launched. Cavalry units moved ahead to encirle defenceless Berlin and to destroy the lone infantry division in Eastern Prussia.
Main attacks were launched against Nuremberg and Leipzig - both regions were closer to expected enemy units so large forces were used in both cases to ensure success.

warwithhitler2attack.jpg

Not everything went according to the plan - enemy stopped my offensive on Konigsberg and managed to capture Memel... Well... historical books will not mention it anyway. ;)
At least primary targets in 'core' Germany were achived, though not without heavy fighting in Nuremberg. Those '39' infantry divisions were tough...

warwithhitler3.jpg

Worry not, though soon the situation changed, except... eastern Prussia. Ehh soon they will pay for violating my territory.

warwithhitler4.jpg

Doesn't matter. Most of strategic areas were conquered anyway. Mountain divisions were sent to Munich, cavalry occupied most of northern Germany. Time to destroy some of those divisions.

As you see below the French managed to cross the border. I guess the German HQ helped them a lot moving all their infantry against me... Even the Belgians started a promising offensive and even captured Cologne. Come on guys !

warwithhitler5.jpg

* In June 1931 Danzig authorities tried (again) to test how far Polish government will react to Danzig's nationalists undermining its authority. The question was about so called port d'attache i.e. the right to use a port as a naval base as well as to greet arriving foreign warships. In June 1932 British DDs were arriving to Danzig (HMS Campbell, Walpole, Westminster, Windsor, Vidette ) and Polish destroyer ORP 'Wicher ' was sent to Danzig to greet them. Second issue was the growing pressure to limit or remove polish rights in the Free City and apparent lack of activity of the League of the Nations despite polish protests.
The destroyer arrived as planned and greeted British DDs 'escorting' them to the port. The next day (15th June ) the Polish comander was ordered to respond with its artillery in case of Danzig's SA trying to desecrate the Polish banner. In fact the destroyer even targeted the Danzig's Senate building with its main artillery while the crisis reached its peak.
The next day the DDs left the port and the incident continued in the League of Nations. It had two results - one Poland was generally criticised for 'warmongering', two - Danzig's authorities decided to sign far more favourable deal with Poland extending certain rights. Together with the Westerplatte incident in 1933 and other smaller conflicts it scared off German authorities which were not ready for a conflict with Poland and decided to quell anti-polish attacks in Danzig and other areas. For a number of years relations with Germany were better than before NSDAP took power...quite tense, but better.

part 2

After one month of fighting.

Good thing - I captured southern regions and entrenched in central Germany.
Bad thing - Germans moved some (new ?) divisions to the north. I need to stop them before they reach Berlin ! Quite difficult with 2 lone cavalry divisions mark '18'...

warwithhitler6.jpg

My problems, though are nothing to those experienced by Germany... In deperate attempt to stop my offensive they launched attack against my forces in central Germany. Good luck guys ! See the shape of their divisions...

warwithhitler7.jpg

End of the month.

Good thing - finally destroyed this sneaky division from Konigsbeg.
Decent thing - Berlin is now secured ( I hope) with 3 infantry divisions.
Bad thing Germans are trying to cut my army off supply routes from Warsaw, but I can try to respond accordingly.

warwithhitler8.jpg

Conquest of Germany allows me to expand my research - third team is extremely useful. I need to rise my org which is very low...

warwithhitler9.jpg

German situation was becoming more and more desperate ( see the strenght of this division) - northern front was cleared of some dangerous units. :D

WARNING ANTI-NAZI joke !

Not to subtle too...

In desperate attempt to stop the advancing allied forces German HQ unleashed less known forefather of famous Panzer divisions

297368546lve3.jpg

I told you it is quite primitive ! ;)

Anyway the attack continued - now it was not if, but when Germany will fall.
I started mopping up the remnants of their army.

warwithhitler11.jpg

You rarely see so 'powerful' Third Reich...

warwithhitler12.jpg

26th October 1935

Germany surrenders and is annexed by Poland.

France gets Saar and Ruhr, Belgim captures Cologne - I get the rest. Fair enough. ;)

warwithhitler13theend.jpg

Breakfast consumed.

Next meal the Soviet Union ! :D

Hmm...a reliable excuse to attack Germany? Well, you could accuse the Germans of border skirmishes.

It has to be more sophisticated - the plot, the idea etc needs to be fully realistic and convincing as all the times before.

Fortunatelly I have found something useful...

Updating in progress...

OK. Have a kiss ! :D

COMMENTS

I got extremely lucky with France DOWing Germany ( I alloed democratic states to DOW - perhaps it was a mistake..). Playing earlier I managed to beat Germany in 1939 which took over 1 year of very heavy fighting so roughly 3 months of fighting in 1935 is almost a X-mas gift.

On the other hand it felt so bloody easy. I prefer to win with cunning against superior enemy and here I had to use 2 level worse forces with prthetic org and attack values...

But the decision is made. One step closer to the final goal is not bad after all.
Soviet Union will be much harder, I know. And later I need to betray my allies and kick the French, British and the Americans too, ehh.

I plan to attack the SU in 1941, maybe 1942 - I need much time to modernisa my army, create some sort of airforce and bilt medium sized fleet to deal with some problems... Besides after the SU I have the USA to beat and it never is easy...

So 6-7 years of peace, or... we shall see if Stalin moves first. I will redeploy some divisions to the east as soon as possible.

CHAPTER NINE - 'Peace for our time'

November the 1st 1935

The final agreement was signed and Germany were occupied.
Neville Chamberlain said to the journalists waiting for him in London 'My good friends, for the second time in our history, a British Prime Minister has returned from Germany bringing peace with honour. I believe it is peace for our time.'.

Neville_Chamberlain2.jpg

The treaty of Munich seemed to stabilise the political situation in Europe for next decades, but only time will tell...

Germany entered long period of foreign presence on their soil. Still Hitler's fate remains unknown and many suspect he is hiding somewhere...
=========================================================

After the victory I used all of my resources to gradually modernise the fighting force as well as to expand the industrail base of the country.

Industrialisation was the main problem, fortunatelly first results of total industrial expansion were finally coming.

Nothing to complain I guess...

This was helped by some favourable random events.

empiregrows.jpg

As you see I have 48 basic IC now. Still too little for the fourth tech team, but soon I will have it. It is too little anyway so I will build more factories and buy as many blueprints as I can.
Yes BUY - I don't want to exchange too many - the allies will not gain much from me - I want to be one step ahead as quickly as possible.
