    a mameluks AAR

    The Mameluks

    Goals
To play realistically like what it would have really been no going to the Americas unless competition ask for it.
So if anyone is expecting to see a world conquest look elsewhere

    Intro
50 or so Mameluks ran into the throne room killing all in there path. There leader cuts down the heir to the Ayyubid throne. They then instate them as rulers of Egypt, Libya, Jerusalem, Lebanon and Syria. They are Shiite Muslims even though most of there population is Sunni.

    Ch 1
    Part 1

The vast Mameluks Empire had grown a war with the black sheep, also known as Qara Koyunlu, who would be gone soon as there arch enemies, Al Koyunlu, march towards there capital.

Looking over the map the kings came to a conclusion that, there was only two enemies that would endanger the sultan those where: Al Koyunlu

    And the Timurid empire

So they aimed at defending those borders and training armies to fight enemies like them. What a mistake this would be as for there is a small nation growing. a power that had been there for a long time. but not making any head way now it was on a charge… the Mameluks would pay dearly for this misjudgement and would pay dearly for not upgrading there army with the latest technology… no one knows if this growing empire would rise to what some feared, but if so Europe would pay in blood for over looking this new power.

p.s. i hope this one last long than my last!

Interesting, Mameluks are probably my favourite country to play - and I usually have a bit more BB than this by 1423 LOL

Those two are formidable enemies this early on but the rise of the Ottomans will be an event of far more concern for you I believe.

One of the things about the Mameluks is that the late game can be quite interesting as you can be in conflict with both Russia and Spain even if you've played 'in character'.

I try and beef up my economy with the late game in mind - helps compensate for being 20 levels of land tech behind Europe (and I just close my eyes when it comes to Naval LOL)

I know what you mean about late game boredom - I've got bored with France by 1465

Have you got any religious goals in this game?

I think you should also go for converting as many Sunni nations to Shiite as possible, definitely the Ottomans anyway.

I'm playing as OE in a AGCEEP GC. In the mid 1500's much of your neighbour, Ak Kolonyu (now the Safavids) has converted to Shiite by event.
