Chapter 6 The Far East (Attack of the Vapors)

Old time: 1580, The Spanish Armada heads for Osaka after capturing a string of ports along the way. Antonio and Isabella banter. Introduction of new character, Chun Jeong-Hee (aka Sweet), a Korean spy loyal to Spain. One year later, Spain captured Osaka but lost it in a counter-attack. Isabella is interrogated by Daimyo Akechi Mitsuhide but she turns the tables by enticing him to turn on the Shogun with Spanish help.
Current time: Post-game chat between Tom and Rodrigo. Tom learns that Ronald McDonald was murdered.... in Japan.
Game concepts: Isabella has blonde hair and blue eyes. Help me out on this but none of the Hispanic girls I know fit this description. Is she from Barcelona?
Post modern in jokes: 0
Ships: Antonio needs to work on his small talk.

Just read the entire thing...started 5-6 days ago!

Loved your plot, but I see quite alot of consistency errors, weird deliveries and parts that make you go "wtf?" Still, have you ever thought about submitting this to a publisher? :)

How can you insult our holy e-book

Don't worry though, it gets better as it goes along ;)

Is he that fast, or am I just that slow?
/sadpanda

Wait... did you mean you read for 120 consecutive hours? Cause that might make sense...

My progress has now been slow but steady. I really like how the characters have gotten a lot more depth in them with the progress of the story. Espescially Antonio with refrences to his apparently not so clean past, but also most of the other characters too. Earlier the cast was a bit like merry band of adventurers which is fun in itself, but it's always nice to see them become more human and having flaws and tragedies of their own.

And I'm still all confused about what Timepieces actually are. There have been hints here and there, but so far they have only raised more questions, which is good too. Mysteries like that are one of the biggest reasons I keep reading.

PS: Seems like you have begun to make chapter summaries. Good thing as I too am getting a little forgetful of what happened in early chapters. I'm imagining it's only worse for those who have read this a long time now.

Thank you , sir :D . I'm glad you're enjoying it as you get more depth into it ! We've been very pleased so far with the kind of focus we've been putting on certain characters !

Davout: Always a pleasure to add your facts to our list XD Just a note though that Chapter 6 had a few references in it so I added them for you XD

sadhukar:  ! You must read fast ! And naturally considering this is an episodic hobby that I usually write on the fly , it gets hard to remain pristine although we do try our best XD . if I were to submit it to a publisher it would have naturally been much more tight and edited !

Miscreant: Haha , either way , reading more/faster is the key , eh ? Haha , just joking take your time and enjoy yourself ! we're just happy if you can please drop us comments as you go along to tell us what you think of each part :D

Yes, I saw the amendments. Thanks for that. I had meant to ask you to check for any errors or omissions as I don't know the Warcraft/Starcraft and Anime references that well (there are professional Warcraft players???). I google as much as possible but some things are bound to fall through the gaps.

Its actually a very strange feeling going back over the old chapters. I am having to revise a lot of assumptions I made about the characters' early history as my impressions of them were coloured by later events.

And I now recall how prolific you were at the start. Many thanks again for such wonderful work, canonized

No problemo XD I know it's hard for any one person to catch all of them so I'll be helping here and there . Thanks again for helping out :D

phargle: It was a very good piece , phargle and I'm really honoured :D . Thanks again for your kindness XD I hope everyone goes to check it out !

Chapter 7 Summary: Hashiba Hideyoshi

Chapter 7 Hashiba Hideyoshi

Old time: Antonio and Sweet flee through slightly Freudian imagery to a hidden village. They meet Machiel Schenkhuizen (aka Grubby), a Dutch general serving the Spanish. Grubby confirms the men are in place. Antonio and Sweet travel to Hideyoshi's castle. Antonio enters alone, and suggests Hideyoshi join with Spain against the Shogun. Hideyoshi seizes Antonio, who is seemingly betrayed by Isabella.

Now time: Police interview Tom about Ronald McDonald's murder. The police take Tom downtown on a pretext. The real police call to say they will be there soon.

Game concepts: Grubby is an important character to follow as he spans the first 2 seasons. He is the Empire's military go to man.

Post modern in jokes: Grubby is/was a professional Warcraft player (seriously, they get paid for this) belonging to the 4 kings clan. Also the "all your bases" meme.

Ships: Antonio shows his devotion to Isabella by coming to her rescue. Isabella plays hard to get and is a bit of a steel butterfly.

Chapter VII said:
“I told you that Hideyoshi is loyal to Nobunaga,” she arrogantly said over her shoulder to the samurai in tow.

“But why would you betray your own kinsman to him?” asked Akechi almost as surprised as Antonio was.

“You still don’t understand?” Isabella asked almost out of frustration. “My first duty is to his Majesty the King and Emperor. As for Antonio…” she looked forward for a moment down the hallway they were walking.

“You are a dangerous woman, Isabel of Castille” commented her samurai escort.

22 May 1581

Antonio and Sweet make their way to a secret base in the mountains of Japan which was a traditional hiding spot for the persecuted Christians of the area. There they meet Machiel Schenkhuizen a military officer in charge of the forces therein. Schenkhuizen's nickname is Sucio or Grubby. After a brief meeting, they part ways again and Sweet and Antonio head to where a daimyo Hashiba Hideyoshi held court. Sweet and Antonio part ways to accomplish different parts of their plan. Antonio tries to talk with Hideyoshi but his terrible Japanese (e.g. “all your base are belong to us” he said to Hideyoshi). Antonio is taken away as a prisoner and he sees Isabella in Japanese dress being entertained as a courtier. Isabella secretly meets up with Sweet later on that everything is going according to their plan.

Interlude

Police investigators from Japan (where McDonald died) arrive at Tom's house to ask him questions about Mr. McDonald. They carried the gold emblem of the cherry blossom (an insignia of the Japanese police force). The police say that they should go down to the police station to pick up some evidence (including Tom's essay) and that the parents should come along as well. We find out that the names of Tom's parents are Joseph and Anne. They go down Newport Ave. to the police station and they go to the underpass. While they were in the underpass, the real police call the home of the Royces.

Hey, thanks for posting these chapter summaries. They're really a wonderful idea - the kind of idea a really amazing and handsome young writer might come up with!

It is an exceptionally good AAR. Keep up the good job. Would be also nice to have more detailed description of naval battles and pirate activities worldwide

Thank you very much ! Naval battles and Pirates reached their zenith in the 1700s so expect to see most of that in Season V or late Season IV

Davout: Thank you as always :D

Hey buddy, don't forget about Sir Francis Drake, the "informal" pirate of Her Majesty "Virgin" Queen Elizabeth I (and that happened long before 1700s). Who is disemboweling the Spanish silver and gold bulion caravans of ships from Americas ? Who contributed so much into driving the Spaniards to bankruptcy ? Let us extol the unsung heroes of the Ocean-Sea.

Anyway you are darn good at writing such stuff. We just need to hear some more about piracy at sea and naval battles. And I would canonize you once more.

Just do not forget that Kalifornia ist uber Alles !!! Isn't it ? I guess you agree with me.

And God bless you

Wow. We have to go through at least three more seasons of this.
By then it'll be a thousand pages. Fine, maybe six hundred. Still...wow.

Haha all too true . I was going to save the high seas epic though for the 1700s since it seemed to be the kind of atmosphere of the time to have it .

After all , just imagine a boss battle with the GERMAN U-BOAT ! How will our crew get out of that one ! Oops I think I gave a little away about Season IV ! XD

comagoosie: Haha , I think Season V will be close to the last season if not the last season .

Fiftypence: So did I actually ! Haha it's great fun to surprise ourselves !
