I just wanted to say thanks for all the replies, guys. :) Sorry I haven't responded to each one individually, but I've been crazy busy... including four straight days in the dentist's chair, the fourth straight of which was today... got my teeth whitened and they took to the UV light so well, I became the first patient ever who needed a Vicodin prescription afterwards.

Jestor: ...including four straight days in the dentist's chair

oh well, bring it on when you can ! !

So your teeth must have issues huh? Try not to blind passerby with them. We'll be here when you get back, after all, we need our grades.

Issues galore... but at least my teeth look awesome now, except for my poor pulled molar, which needs another couple weeks minimum to fully heal...

...and i leave in 7 hours for the airport, 11 for the flight, so it'll be a bit touch and go eatingwise the first couple weeks, but I'll deal.

When next you hear from me, I'll either be in Malaga or, more likely, Granada. :)

We're all envious. Enjoy Spain.

Indeed--you'd better enjoy your trip, since because I'll be stuck in school (started Monday) I'll be experiencing it vicariously through your accounts of it.

Nah, j/k ;) I wouldn't want to put that kind of pressure on you. At any rate, though, good luck, and have fun under the Spanish sun (and remember where the rain in Spain falls mainly ;) ).

as long as you travel in safety, not much else matters ! !

and, enjoy Spain ! ! :D

Oh, awesome sir! Have fun, take care, and think of us occasionally ... but not too much, you're in freaking Spain!

By the way, I am still on sabbatical, just wanted to check in and see if there were any updates :eek:o :D

I have to say that I find this AAR utterly fascinating - excellent! Please keep the updates coming!

*quickly dashes in from Internet cafe*

Thank you, thank you all!

And yes, yes I did bring my savegame. :)

So.... -if- my savegame works.... updates you will have occasionally.

I'll respond more fully once I'm on free wi-fi!

JimboIX: Enjoying Spain, I am, though I'll enjoy it a lot more once I can pick up the language. I'm starting to get some bits of comprehension already and I've only been here 3 days, which is awesome. :) The intensive language class starts Tuesday.

Specialist290: :D There's a dynasty on another board I've got going where I relate my experiences and post pics! If you want, I can send you the URL.

Adaml83: I will! Thanks :)

GhostWriter: I did and these ear filters I picked up in Chicago O'Hare for $10 called Earplanes basically saved my butt, as I normally have a -lot- of ear pain when I fly... while the Earplanes didn't totally eliminate the pain and while they're only good for 2 flights, they cut down the pain dramatically.

ForzaA: :D I admit, I've been tempted to a search for de Semur on wikipedia myself, just to see if anything comes up.

Hajji Giray I: Nice to see you back! I was wondering where you'd got off to. College is an awesome time, man and I'd like to take this opportunity to sing the praises of fraternity life. Rush, man, seriously. You can always say no to any bids you get if it's not your gig, but Greek life = the best, especially in the South and the West (the Midwest not so much, but that's another matter).

General_BT: I'll try :) Though they'll be sporadic and perhaps even rare these next four months. I will try and get a few updates in though, as I'm afraid of losing the sense of story, voice, etc if I let it go too long. Although I found myself thinking one of the girls in our program looks a -lot- like a middle class version of Melody, if that makes any sense. Oh and thank you very much for the high praise! :)

Adaml83: I haven't tried CK on the laptop yet, but I will this afternoon while my roommate's napping.

Chief Ragusa: I'm keeping all future plans for the de Semurs under my hat :) You'll just have to wait and see.

that is one pain i don't remember experiencing ! IIRC, i yawn a lot while in places that cause ear pain because of changes in altitude... (including elevators.) another thing that is supposed to reduce ear pain is chewing gum. (and, remember that you have to chew the gum for it to work ! ;) )

i am really glad that you had reduced pain for this flight, because it was a long flight. probably a bit longer than New York City to Frankfurt am Main, my longest flight...

The article also has an english version, just scroll down and click on "English" to the left of the page, for those unfortunate enough not to know french :p

An Abbe of Cluny. That house founded so many daughter houses across Europe. He's a de Semur who had a major impact on how Europe developed. In a sense, we are all children of the de Semur.

Cool to stumble on to this family, Jestor.

PS How's Spain?

doh!
I searched on the English wiki first.. but that didn't return the article (I had looked for it before) ..and now I see why.. "of Semur" ...surely you shouldn't translate last names/noble names
