Well that explains it. They revolted from and annexed Castilla. It actually seems to happen rather frequently.

There are a lot of situations that frequently get posted because they should be weird, but really have ended up being quite normal.

Tip: Do not annex the papal states when there is a large amount of Riga to be found.

"Northerners" I think at that time they called China like this, when nominally calling the China as overlord, Vietnam seems usually called themselves like "the Dynasty of South", meaning they are equal.
