Because Ottomans make them sound like a tribe sort of like the Mamluks, and Ottoman Empire wouldn't work because what if they changed into a republic?

this map has all kinds of wrong on it. Strong Norway, powerful Riga, Algiers eaten by Morocco and Tunisia, holy crap Bulgaria... POLOTSK IS THE EMPEROR.

I see, thanks.
Its just that Im always on edge with this game, fearing that there is still something I havent learned about it, and that maybe the namechange came from a unification or some other national decision I havent found yet.
