I think my exploration techniques are all wrong anyway, as soon as my ships venture out to sea they start to disintegrate, should I use carracks/caravels or galleys/barquesi end up losing loads of explorers because the ships are lost

Nah - France didn't become infested with cheese eating surrender monkeys until World War II. Well, okay, maybe they were still cheese eating before that...Originally Posted by Kanil

Fah, look at the real-life colonial holdings of Spain and Portugal in 1542, 50 years after Columbus. Aztecs and Incans annexed and, for the most part, converted by Spain, Brazil soldily being colonized by Portugal, Cuba a core province of Spain...Originally Posted by Lord Boreal
Use cogs, they are much faster. If you are not playing Portugal or Castille, getting military access from either is a must. Although Norway could do if you take the northern approach.Originally Posted by Lord Boreal

As am I though even in EUII they sometimes use to give the Spanish a run for their money. However I think that was down to poor Spanish ai. I'd be interested to see if they hold out in this game.Originally Posted by Wolf52

Extremely doubtful, given that a grand total of 5 cavalry regiments could probably conquer their entire empire, given the new "seize anything Pagan" rules - and, of course, retreating units often retreat deeper into enemy territory...Originally Posted by Duke of Wellington

Nope, thats completely legit. My mission was to "save the HRE" and it has worked very well. I basically vassalized the countries that make up Germany today (made sure there were as many as possible) and also went on a little romp to vassalize Venice and liberate the Balkans from the Ottomans. I accomplished that, and vassalized the Ottomans too.Originally Posted by Duke of Wellington
I am allied with every vassal, thats why i have so many shields there. Later today i'll post a screen of europe (HRE still has 35 nations in mid 16th century, not bad in EU3 terms), but i cant right now because i dont have access to the "game" computer.

Youd be surprised... the Incas have actually pushed the Dutch back, in addition to expansion on their own. I remember seeing one peace deal where the Dutch had to cede 4 provinces to them... needless to say i was surprised!Originally Posted by MagisterMundi
