I finally found the courage to start my first AAR, something I've been wanting to do for long, so please be kind with me.
I'll be playing revolutions with the latest patch and OHgamer's hotfixes.

Orange has a better RP generation at start and a bigger popgrowth mod, but I still chose transvaal as I get the diamonds without having to fight for them.

My goals for this game are :
-to unify Africa under one flag.
-to humiliate the colonial powers as possible.
-no cheating/exploitish moves. I won't be taking lands from china or such things.
First update to come as soon as I type it up.

opening moves

Here's the nation of transvaal in all it's grandeur, a 5 province presidential dictatorship, a ruling minority, and dreams of power.

And so the game starts :

-1 January 1936 : We start research on practical steam engine.
We're making 0.6£/day, not much for for now, but things will gradually improve.

-5 September : we choose to instruct our armed forces following Clausewitz's theories. Most of our fighting will be done later in game.

-9 December : the biggest dutch pop, 9k farmers in pretoria are converted to clergymen. RP generations jumps from 0.6/month to 0.95/month.

-27 December : we choose to go with the superior crew thesis.

-7 March 1837 : research is finished on practical steam engine, we start researching romanticism.

-10 February 1838 : research finished, we continue in our cultural enlightenment path with idealism.

-9 September : crime fighting becomes too expensive, we slash it back to 0.

-5 January 1839 : research finished, we start working on positivism. My goal is to get ideological thought.

-13 May : Cultural research starts to payoff, we get 20 prestige from neokantian idealism.

-27 october : Diamonds are discovered in Rustenburg, our nation is thrilled with joy at the thought of all the riches it could bring us.
We start research on ideological thought.

-23 October 1840 : we start researching medicine, the more the merrier (and the deadlier).

-9 August 1841 : Political religion fires and paternalism fires also days after. That's 10 plurality that won't be taken from me after.

-5 October : we start working on realism.

-18 October : After further investigations the diamond veins in Rustenburg are found to be deeper than thought. Further exploitation starts, profits from the mine go from 16£ to 18£.

-1 December : The lazy capitalists, revigorized by this new influx of money start working on Transvaal's first industrial complex : a fabric factory.

-21 December : With 5000£ in bank, the mastermind behind all this declares the nation ripe for change, he puts the boeren party in charge, get's them to enact all kinds of social and political reforms, then throws them out in favor of the liberal party.

-1 January 1842 : Our nation is now fully democratic. With new elections called, and the liberal party being clearly loosing, they restrict voting rights to the educated classes, ensuring them a second term.

Getting set

-April 1842 : we get exactly what we were looking for : more plurality.

plurality is now at 15.5%

-26 August : secularization fires too.

-29 August : research is started on mechanical production.
we take profit from our excess RPs and strike a deal with Oranje

-13 October : individualism fires, putting us at 26% plurality.

-1 December : the fabric factory is ready, our very first immigrants are welcomed with big celebrations.

-1 July 1843 : A regular clothes factory is started. Do I sense intelligence on the capi's part?

-23 July : we start working on experimental railroads.

-18 September : more good news

-17 march 1844 : we strike another deal with our boer brothers

-17 June 1845 : we start researching muzzle loaded rifles.

-1 July : The regular clothes factory is ready, we start making a nice profit.
research is started on empiricism, and we also start promoting clerks for the extra RPs and productivity.

-14 July : We notice that the UK annexed Natal, plunging our relations deep in the red. Diplomats are hurriedly sent to reassure her majesty of our eternal friendship.

-7 September : I thought we were democratic?

Thanks to the turmoil in Europe, and the interest of our citizens in politics, we become the dream destination for the oppressed masses. We're getting up to 3000 new citizens a day sometimes. All the RGOs get a much needed expansion.

-2 June 1846 : we start researching clean coal.

-1 May 1847 : By god there's intelligence in this game. Guess what factory the capis built this time? Yes, a luxury clothing one.
We start researching early railroads.

-10 April 1848 : we start working on organized factories.

-8 January 1849 : another deal with my preferred neighbours :

-4 March : We look into High/Low pressure steam engines.

-1 May : Lux clothes factory ready, one month later, the capis start building a furniture factory. I love capitalism.

-1 January 1850 : We reach the 2 million people mark. There's lvl 2 railroads in every province. Here's a little overview of the situation :

-18 January 1850 : We reinforce our lone infantry division and DOW the zulu, seeking a coastline, and hoping for some more manpower (I can't convert soldiers when at peace with pacifism)

-28 January : We start working on cheap iron.

-14 May : End of the liberal revolution, militancy reduced for liberals, and -10 plurality for me. But I still get a nice amount of migrants.

-27 July ; I get oligopoly, bad for colonization.

-10 September : The zulu are annexed, result of the war : +2BB +10 prestige and the most important part, 90k new soldiers.

-14 December : Hegelian idealism fires for +12 prestige.

-22 December : We start researching state and government.

-1 January 1851 : I disband my inf division, and recruit a new one with a regulars attachment.

-26 February : I start building 3 clipper transports.

-6 August : I DOW johore, and reduce my prestige to 45 in the process.
Population reaches 3 M.

-17 August : With the clippers ready, I ship my soldiers to johore.

-10 November : A second div of inf-reg is recruited.

-16 November : We start researching Associationism.

-18 December : We choose clericalism over anti-clericalism.

-29 December :

-11 February 1852 : We choose bureaucracy over nepotism.

-3 June : We choose populism and days after Aristocracy. Diplomats will be much needed.

-23 October : We finally decide to annex madagascar, days later general pretorius dies.

-24 April 1859 : A big juicy deal with orange :

-18 May : we start research on iron railroads, and recruit two malagasy inf-regs.

-13 November : As soon as the peace treaty with Oman expires, we rush to send them a formal DOW, only to discover we are out of diplomats. So we wait for December to start the hostilities.

-15 May 1860 : Peace with oman in exchange for all their lands but the capital. Work starts on the collectivist theory.

-1 July : Capitalists start the first factory in S.Africa, a regular clothes one.

-20 September : We finally buy the UK out of S.Africa.

Armies gather around Oranje.

-25 November : War with the Dutchies, we're going to mercilessly bring them to our empire.

-3 March 1866 : We start working on business regulations.

-14 March 1866 : with Oranje annexed, we're finally alone in the south. BB is at 4.

-4 July 1866 : We finish off Oman, and months later Abu Dhabi.

-December 1866 : We begin colonizing africa, starting with Kenya, Somaliland, Cameroun, Iboland and Middle congo.

-27 January 1867 : We start working on scientific management.

-13 March 1867 : Our last deal with the UK

-21 December 1867 : we start on Naval professionalism, and begin improving relations with France.

-15 February 1869 : We DOW and annex liberia.

Here's the state of the empire after a decade of progress. Colonial buildings are in darker blue.

Immigration is now sporadic, but once I'll get the other gold mines in S.Africaa, I'm sure it'll pick up again.

Good work! I've found Oranje and Transvaal to be surprisingly strong if played the right way. I did with Oranje what you're trying to do with Transvaal and it worked like a charm! I ended up satteliting every major nation and owning all of Africa, and I'm sure you'll be able to get there too, judging from your progress so far. Your strategy seems well thought out.
