This looks interesting, but I'm trying to finish my first CORE game at the moment.

What is to keep the humna player from going straight after nukes in 1934 and bacily opening up World War II in a nucear holocaust? Just wondering.
 
Great the first 3 years of german playing.....only some minor things with the translation like a lot of the event choices start with "to - insert whatever text for action like: "to accept plan Z" or "to build up industry" - most of the times it isnt needed and sounds funny skip the to - the short "accept plan Z" will do - one thing tough - Zeppelin Hindenburg made no sense especially in the end of the text - nothing that gets me irritated - one thing does however - an event made about the plan Z - i thought when i got it - hey it will give me some blueprints and maybe even "free units" considering that i pay with my oh so beloved and rare IC - so i go on and accept every time Plan-Z pops its evil head up and wants some more IC from me.....and then........Do i get units for me payin IC - hell no i just get the units ordered in the build queue - at normal price and all - hell i cant even build them i have to build IC to replace them i lost! - they arent cheaper nor do they take shorter time to build than regular navalunits - and after i accept and remove the units in build a month after i have to pay 300 money to have hipper build - which i also cancel - i dont have the bloody IC. Whats the general idea behind this!?!!? - hitlers insanity!?!?! - i would get the point if you moved the blueprints from the Brit-germany negotiation and did spread them out to several of the Plan Z events - that would make some players pay the IC but sure as hell is nobody knowing about the effects gonna accept plan Z - there are no rewards just punishment! - why are these event not just AI only - let the AI loose the IC - whatever and then in the end hand over the free units...........someone said something about the makers beeing anacho's and commies - guess there is something true about that.

Are there any AAR's (english) out there using mod34 and in that way spreading the word about it?

Hey! - forgot something - had a reseachevent poppin up - something about genuis-reseachers endin' reseach before time (intended blueprint i guess!? or finished reseach triggered by that event) - but it said:
- no effect
- no effect
- no effect

if that means i was gonna get me 3 blueprints for ongoing reseach or finish 3 projects at the same time if it had worked correctly im gonna cry :( - no just kiddin :D

And HEY KONIG 15!!!! LOOK HERE FOR THE ANSWER OF YOUR QUESTION!!! - take a short thinker - reseachtime! - there are at least like 6 techs not simultainiusly researched but AFTER each other - okay if you are Really hardcore about it and have a perfect reseachteam AND IC to build the nukereactors (which also take time and have to be build one by one as the reseach is gettin finished) if you say as russian do all that you may have 1 or 2 bombs around 1940 - but how is the army doing? and the airforce? - the bomb may be loaded on an airplane so you can use it again and again and again - but hey if you want a just okay bomber that does not get shot down you have to reseach airplanes, industries to get the metals to build advanced planes and escort - plus you have to build them to have at least regional air control over the skies - try doing that before 1940 - if you can do that as say Sovjets in an AAR in 1940 - declare war against the germans and win over them - ill send you a bottle of whiskey or whatever you want! - and germany or Japan? - aint got the capacity japan has to little industries and no real reseach teams germany has no army and powerfull enemies all around plus the have a rather low IC count for a project like Nukes - only if they win europe at low cost - hold the allies off - wins over or does not attack SU and has enough airforce to keep the allies from bombing plus uses all IC for building the nuclear facilities - USA? - cant declare war and will only have the capacity when they gear up - they could reseach without the nuclear facilities - but hey that is gonna take ages and after that you have to build the facilities anyway to get the bomb!!! - So TA DAH - we are back to only gettin nukes late in the war!!

Z-plan just gives blueprints in exchage for industry and money; it try to force the player to make ships, sometimes you do not build ships because you think that you do not need they. If you do not accept Z-plan you do not have those problems.

We have many problens with researchevents and others because the game doesn't work well but it is a fault of Paradox. Sometime they work and other times they don't work.
If they work they have to give you any blueprint or a blueprint from something you are researching, but it can be that they make you begin again a project.

enjoy your holidays - have a merry christmas and a happy new year! - you all have surely deserved a little rest - oh and i think i didnt mention something rather important :eek:o i will have to actually just correct the current translations into better english because i dont speak spanish but all the minor errors and mixups would be no problem and I guess every little bit helps eh? - it isnt a perfect situation as I already mentioned but i would be glad to help. By the way - has there been any thoughts about making mod34 work in the german version? - I could help you with translating from english into german ( my german is much better than my english - its my second native tongue apart from Danish so you are free to PM me in english, german or danish just spanish would be sort of a little problem for me :D ).

Hi Simon,

I asked the same question some posts earlier and the answer given by erno did work well. Simply change the very first number in setting.cfg to 0 (english), that's it - mod 34 works perfectly with german (and i would guess all other languages) version.

2 other things to my list of points:

7) Galizia
Galizia doesn't have ministers. Don't know if they also don't have any techteams but i would guess so.

8) important techs
If you know your mod, then the tech trees are no problem and they are complex and realistic, but if you are new to this mod, then you simply don't know how to handle them. Especially because techs in one area do require techs from others. Best example for this is "Materials" - probably one of the 3 most important techs to research, because many other techs depend on it.
Suggestion: maybe color those techs or highlight them a bit, would make it easier to players new to your mod.

yeah, the highlight thing would help a bit - one could also ad a little readme file to the modpack with a short manual - or a line just saying look at the hints number so and so to so and so in the game - and someone could write a few tips there - not me yet im very newbie at this mod....

I know that the german language can be changed into english - i dont play it in german myself - not even the original DD - i was thinkin a bit more in the lines of the folks in germany etc. who prefer deutsch over english during gaming - i know there isnt a german version now - but how about in the future? they would maybe like to spread this product and who knows maybe one day it will be in pushtu and urdu and be more known than the original DD :D

We want somebody to help us with translation, now we want to correct english translation and your aid will be welcome. For next version we are working in the french translation, if you want to make german translation too, we will be very thankful. You have to know that it is a hard work, I will send a PM to you.
Main modtean are in Galicia but there are people from other sites in Spain, Europe and South America. I do not know how many we are because I am just a betatester and the translator into english version and until now I just do that: To play. I am knowing the team but we are not many either.

Tramis is right highlightin would do wonders - startin to get the hang of what is needed for what - germany with the limited time before an active war is especially tricky - if the player as an example wants to get his hands on pocket battleship there is a long way to go - the near zero reseach until 1934 in germany on surfaceships is very well pictured in the scenario - something that DD missed entirely - and certainly gettin a new motormodel is a real large investment in reseach. First i was like WOW! when i saw the techtree - then slightly confused - after that slightly panicked knowing that i was lackin behind but now im startin to get the hang of it - but a manual with tips would also be a nice add-on to the mod:) - ill have me a couple of games and will correct translatin - if i can find the time ill see if i can write something in english about the techtree - just some tips and stuff at first - at this moment im writin notes - im a bit of a perfectionist and being the leader means i have certain responsebilities - so i do a lot of thinkin over what to do and stuff - it adds to the gameplay - and hell the games runs over 5 years before war - one has to plan ahead:)))

one thing about the game - the german intervention keeps coming up if you reload a savegame as german - but the other eng fra sov and ita event dont - strange! - oh and yes i have noticed the non-workin reseachevents - well a shame but also the reseach sabotaged doesnt work either - i nearly pissed myself when i got that event and checked and nothin had happened - i tried to relax after that and downed a glass of whiskey - helped a bit but i still was a little nervous every time an event fired:)))

oh an GREAT random events with the metal, energy and stuff! - it doesnt restrict the IC because of limited rare, metal and energy - something that makes the game work quite some time past 1950 and the europian and russian rebuild etc - the only event that pisses me of as german is the infrastructure-improvement event - i have all the provinces at 100 percent - did oppeln myself (80 at start) i understand the prize - but shoudnt the effect of not paying lower the infra and just forget the dissent - it makes more sense as a high infra state to have to do repairs on highstandart roads and railroads etc and not payin lowers the infra - get the point? - but okay i guess thats not changing....just a thought

oh and i had a look at the site - nice stuff!

Dammit! - a shame - then a short manual will have to do or the hints rewrite made to help people get the hang of the techtree.
by the way - pocketbattleship is a german invention - well they where the only relying solely on it for main surfacepower - france and brits had some ships that with some streching of term "pocketbattleship" fits into that class but they didn't consider them main weapons - they had the Battleships for that - the germans get a lot of blueprints with the treaty with england in 35 but nothing helpin with reseach in that area - instead it gives them a good forward leap on smaller ships compared to the allies - not very historical - the destroyerfleet in germany was pretty basic during the whole war and the reseachweight for pocketships could need some help if germany is to field at least one pocketbattleship by the middle of 1939 - hell i would say the AI or the player is lucky is he is to get the tech around 1941 or 42 - I guess most players will build the regular battleships and stick with them until pretty late. I have tested this out at normal/normal and full spycrews in england france and russia stealing techs to get closer towards pocketbattleships but i guess ill have to change to fullspyteams in england france - leave sovjets out and take USA and maybe Japan and steal techs from them....maybe then its possible.....the japs wont like it but hey - war is war right? - in war there are no friends - only weaker enemies for later :D
This was just a little thought again about the mod :D

Here are the next 3 points in my list:

9) Trade Agreement GER-SOV
The "Agreement German-Sovjet" still pops up after SOV doesn't exist anymore.

10) Greater Colombia
Greater Colombia hasn't got any ministers, nor officers.
I know that you are still working on your mod - this is simply a list of observations we made during our multi player game.

11) Country Colours
Maybe have a closer look at the colours of some countries, because some times in our game it happened that neighbours had the same or nearly the same colour.
Two examples:
a. Germany (a player nation) released Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan and both of them do have a yellow colour. Not exactly the same, but still not an ideal solution for two countries that share one border.
After releasing Sibiria later on and with Nat. China on its borders (yes, nat.china won the war agains japan (both computer nations) there were four countries with almost the same colours in the same area (white, neary white, very light yellow and light yellow)... maybe not very ideal ;)
b. Italy (also a player nation) released the Ottoman empire, Aethiopia and Cameroun (i think it was cameroun). Then he gave them some provinces surrounding those nations to make them a bit larger (saudi arabia, oman and yemen to the Ottoman empire for example). After all he ended with 3 nations sharing the same brown colour. Ok, i know that it isn't possible to give every country another colour, but maybe you could have a look at this issue too.

As i said before: your mod is great and we really enjoy playing it!

Hi Erno,

so far I have played until November 38 (Germany, n/n).

The z-plan is really not worth the hassle (i chose the sub option). I cancelled 2 production runs immediately (i was 100% investing in IC) and then killed the whole thing on the third event. I planned (and still do) to build my subs in long serials and not in huge parallel runs.

The tech tree is daunting - especially the industrial part. Even though i chose the peace doctrine (for the 15% positive research modifier instead of the 10% negative one for the war doctrine) and with the good tech teams I have I am rather limited in my research (ie not getting everything that i want). I don't even want think about the ussr.......

The only anormal thing that happened so far is that republican spain went national socialist and i am about to add them to the axis (chances about 33%). Everything else seems normal.

Regarding the special units: am i supposed to be able to build them? if not that would explain why i can't find them.

All things considered a very promising mod.

HEY SNOOPY1710!:

you get the Waffen SS (german special unit) via event - you get 1, 2 or 4 units in every event that pops up - the larger your army the larger the contingent of Waffen SS you get for free - an the unit is like a 1945 infantry unit in case your wondering - forces you to build up forces......

you havin problem with reseach? play some testgames - i did - currently doing my 3rd test run:) - you can easy get money so kick out enemy spies and send out a shitload yourself - just make sure you have a reserve if an event happens that costs money and steal techs - wait a year or two before you steal tech than you have a decent chance to steal tech you need and not just tech you dont have but cant reseach either - and apart from that - focus on what you need and skip the things you dont and get these things later when you are allied with italy and so on - and in case your wondering - yes i quit Z-plan too after gettin the blueprints and build the units like you do - the other way around you have to pay money and have to build expensive single units - personally i think it should be a AI event only but hey maybe they dont have mass-production in spain:)))

get materials and you can reseach more advanced units - you have to reseach some techs that anyway give a bonus to reseach to get there so that is like very important anyway - reseach guns so you can get heavy and light arty with more punch

Another thing I would like to mention is the scarcity of rares starting in 38. I'm running a huge deficit and can't buy enough of the stuff on the market (soviet union is cancelling every rares deal after 1-2 days and they only have a surplus of about 25 per day). The netherlands are running a deficit and I am buying the last 10 rares of the US...........

If nothing happens in a couple of months I will add rares to some provinces.

Regarding research: i already cut out a lot of stuff: naval units/doctrines (except subs), brigades (except sp arty), strategic/naval bombers, interceptors. My research speed is at 156% and ie i am still lagging with the air doctrines.

We never had problens with rares and Germany can join a pile of then. Try to reinstall HOI2DD, it is very important to install Mod34 on a clean Hoi2DD.

We are working to improve Z-plan in next version.

Mod34 was not thought to have so many tech investigated in 39, you must center in tech that interest to you for your war and then you can continue with others. Mod34 was thought as a large game, to spend time.
