Going For the Big Bucks
For the time being all wars we fight will be about building up the Belgian economy. So we might as well start at the top, and go after the UK
There are two keys to bringing down the UK
1. Use the numerous British satellites to drive up the war score against Britain
2. Make use of your navy early on, while the Royal navy is still disorganized.
During times of peace the British AI reduces naval spending. This in turn reduces the strength of all British ships to 10. Once war starts the AI raises naval spending, but must keep its fleets in port until they regain their strength. This is the time to attack.
My new navy consists of 3 transport fleets, and 1 battle fleet. I will sail one transport fleet (with a cavalry army) to the coast of Greece to make an amphibious landing against the Ionian Islands, and another transport fleet will land troops in England itself. The battle fleet will provide cover for the transports operating in the North Sea.
The war begins on February 11, 1846.
The two landings go off without a hitch, and the Belgian fleet is returned to port.
The capital of the Ionian Islands falls to the Belgians, thus driving up the war score by 20 points. Once London falls, the war score will be over 40. War indemnities cost 25 points.
The next stop is London which is only defended by two measly divisions. Meanwhile the British have landed troops on the Belgian coast.
London fell in short order, and for the next couple of months I continually pestered the British for a peace that included nothing but war indemnities. Each offering was rebuffed, and then the British fired back with a blow that hit below the belt.
The peace offering would include British Guyana, British holdings on the Malaysian peninsula, British lands in Burma, as well as the Indian border provinces. A very tempting peace deal.
