I just spent some hours not only updating every single post in this AAR to use Photobucket but also updating the index in the first post completely. It should be easy to keep up this time. Also please vote in the AARland Choice AwAARds

Hundred years passed, a third of the a-provinces captured. Now that the steam is up, the other two thirds should also be done in 100 years, leaving 200 years for other letters.

74 pages for a fourth of the playing time is quite some posting. too bad most of them are " Real Men Spam Nonsencely" posts. :p

This is the province of Alcacer do Sal. It is a worthless base-0.90 Muslim Arab province, but instead of being in the deserts of Arabia it is in the plains of Portugal.

ScreenSave1005.jpg

It is ruled by a Scotswoman with a funny name! Get it? Gruoch! It's like that word. You know. That one.

ScreenSave1006.jpg

Well time to sail for it!

ScreenSave1011.jpg

Silly Abkhazia! Nobody cares about you at all! Except that you still manage to be in my demesne because somehow you're never the lowest-base-income province in there.

ScreenSave1015.jpg

And those Kappadokians wanted a war, so Johann is coming!

ScreenSave1016.jpg

But do not worry, dear reader! Johann will not be facing any battles that might crush his poor dainty martial-2 wrists, for the Kappadokians have piled all their armies in Imeretia and chose not to move them for anything! Including attacking my province of Abkhazia, whose regiment would be very, very outnumbered by them!

ScreenSave1018.jpg

Anyways, time to go to war. Though it won't really be a difficult war. It will be like taking a province from a Scotswoman! Wait, that is exactly what it will be.

ScreenSave1020.jpg

Look at those silly Scots! They think they can fight!

ScreenSave1022.jpg

And the Martial get Martialler! Yeah, this is pretty sweet.

ScreenSave1024.jpg

Yeah, they all died. All of them.

Marshal Alfonso improving his Strategy and Tactics is sure a lot better than what he normally does, that is, run away like a coward despite being my best Marshal and often both outnumbering and outmarshaling his opponent! Now that is cowardice! Tune in next time as an old foe is confronted and an old enemy is reconciled in the next exciting episode of Real Men Do It Alphabetically, an AARgau!

Real Men Like Scotswomen With Silly Names... :D

483 out of 408. So some of them even died twice. ZOMBIES!

And the Martial get Martialler! Yeah, this is pretty sweet.

"Hey wait a minute... if we outnumber our enemy five-to-one our chances of winning increase. You've done it again Alfonso! Pure tactical genious!"

Real Men gets better martial skills, hurray. Good work :)

Chapter 29: Alcacer do Sal

ScreenSave1025.jpg

I am somehow not as confident in this battle, especially as one of my loser Counts somehow took leadership over Alfonso.

ScreenSave1028.jpg

Meanwhile sieges are pretty boring, especially when they're of Medium Castles and nobody else is around.

ScreenSave1031.jpg

And the two-months-and-two-days battle of Alcacer do Sal ends, with 90% of its participants having died in combat! Boy do I feel like it's medieval times!

ScreenSave1037.jpg

And the Prince of Kappadokia agrees to relinquish his claims on Adrianopolis, which was the only reason he has to go to war with me in the first place!

ScreenSave1039.jpg

So this little diversion from Johann's trip to Aintab was productive.

ScreenSave1041.jpg

Meanwhile it took four additional months after that big battle to take Alcacer do Sal because 90% of my original besiegers died!

ScreenSave1042.jpg

But at least it's over now.

ScreenSave1044.jpg

I give Alcacer do Sal over to funny-talking Welf von Habsburg as he never was useful to me and also kept appearing in my Martial lineup despite sucking at it. Also he's bald.

ScreenSave1045.jpg

And though I peaced with Alcacer do Sal I did not peace with Scotland as a whole, which causes my nine-times-over-decimated forces in Spain to have to fight again.

ScreenSave1046.jpg

Which is really really annoying because they're needed for something soon.

Ooh, look at me, I'm the Kingdom of Scotland. I won't accept peace with the Duke of Abydos because I'm a skirt-wearing, liver-eating pantywaist who got conquered by the English for crying out loud. I'd save these national insults for when I'm to conquer Argyll or something, but really if my actual demesne armies were ever to make their presence known in the Scottish hills, their three-digit regiments would stop faster than a Scotsman's heart as he reaches for his fourth deep-fried Mars bar. And after that the king would fold quickly too, as quick as that heart thing I mentioned earlier, I guess. Tune in next time as an old foe is confronted and an old enemy is reconciled in the next exciting episode of Real Men Do It Alphabetically, an AARgau!

This is the province of Alcantara. It manages to outdo its predecessor on the List by being a base-0.30 Muslim Arab province in the plains of Iberia.

ScreenSave1048.jpg

It is ruled by this triple-A Emir-guy who has 0 intrigue and 7 vassals. Pretty hilarious how his demesne is basically the weakest province in his emirate.

ScreenSave1050.jpg

Some female von Habsburg married away to a count herp derp.

ScreenSave1052.jpg

Guidone Bishop of Agrigento? My vassal is Guidone Bishop of Agrigento! Also the King of England declares war on Medina for no reason.

ScreenSave1053.jpg

Yeah this is pretty annoying since I'll have to march Johann all the way to Aintab again.

ScreenSave1054.jpg

And the Agrigento regiment is caught up in some England-Scotland battle while they were supposed to be reinforcing my beleaguered forces in preparation for attacking Alcantara.

ScreenSave1055.jpg

And Guidone's first act as Pope is quite pragmatic, indeed.

ScreenSave1056.jpg

And Agrigento reverted to direct demesne rule.

ScreenSave1057.jpg

Which must mean that the Pope still leading Agrigento's regiment must be a very confusing situation.

ScreenSave1058.jpg

So confusing, in fact, that Guidone is not actually the Pope, but in some random Italian Shiek's court for some reason!

Yeah I'm not really sure what happened here. It could be that the Pope normally takes his Bishopric with him when he becomes Pope but since it would suck to just lose a province out of nowhere the game just reverts it to the player's demesne and that caused problems. Which is nice because otherwise I would have to fight the Pope to get Agrigento back. Or it could be that there is no Papal State anymore because the Germans absolutely sucked at fighting the Medinans even on their own turf, and that caused problems. Lousy problems. The saga continues in the next thrilling episode of Real Men Do It Alphabetically, an AARgau!

The game always reverts the province of a bishop who becomes Pope to its liege (unless there is no liege, in which case the Pope keeps it), but that still doesn't explain why the leader of the Holy Church decided to go to a Muslim court upon losing his Papacy.

CK really conjures the strangest situations.

A Pope who didn't wish to be Pope, perhaps?
