Now it is. Reckless will give one more precious, precious Intrigue point!

Plus I don't need the Pope coming round and demanding money with menaces.

Heh. Making events for your lives. And it seems that we have a lot of new readers this time. Welcome to the CK portion of AARland. You should at least check out the CK AAR that is linked at the top of every update. I hear that it's quite similar.

Chapter 3: Abydos

As told with many pictures. And a moderate amount of words.

(All formats, fonts, layouts, and even this little disclaimer pillaged ruthlessly from phargle's
Knud Knýtling, Prince of Denmark (and other assorted tales))

And the stunning conclusion to last week's cliffhanger: We won!

ScreenSave361.jpg

But winning was not enough, as Prince Laskaris steals our siege! What a bastard! (This joke would have worked better if he indeed were a bastard, which is a characteristic that is modeled in Crusader Kings)

ScreenSave362.jpg

Silly Abydos. It is not your leprechaun's gold we want. (This joke would have worked better if Ireland, which is also in Crusader Kings, contained Abydos, which it doesn't.)

ScreenSave363.jpg

It's your land, which I am demanding with 1/43rds of the warscore needed to reasonably do so! (This joke would have worked better if... Okay maybe not)

ScreenSave364.jpg

What? Abydos rejected my offer? And Abauj revolted again? HOW DARE THEY!

ScreenSave365.jpg

Bad news comes in pairs. The Emperor himself steals the siege of Abydos, and thieves form a guild in my richest province...

ScreenSave366.jpg

Finally, some good news!

ScreenSave367.jpg

And some bad. Byzantium did take the siege of Abydos and Abydos is now controlled by the Emperor. However, being the day this happened, a peace has not been settled yet. Desperately clinging to hope, I offer the peace to Abydos again. But what are the odds-

...I can't believe that worked... You won't believe your eyes when you read the next exciting episode of Real Men Do It Alphabetically, an AARgau!

Some good news finally arrives!

I think if someone's demesne is totally occupied, he's forced to accept any peace treaties he's offered, regardless of who they're from.

Nice job getting this far. Compared to how long it took you to get Abauj, you've practically been raking the provinces in.

It was the choice between becoming the property of the Emperor or joining the wacky trek around Europe promised by the Habsburgs. Mention must be made of the sympathy, in Abydos, for the revolt and Thieves guild formation

I can't quite believe that chapter 4 is about to begin.

Seems Anon has all the luck, I don't he'll ever complete the list (it would require a lot of patience and some tempering with the game mechanics.... then again he just might do it... nah..) but he'll go a long way

As long as you have a warscore on somebody he has no choice but to give you everything you want in poeace negotiations. I take advantage of this when my liege steals my sieges.

You gots to be quick. And you will lose prestige. And it is pretty gamey. But it works.

Real Men Have An Amazingly High Amount Of Luck... :D

No just read the above posts. Apparently it's a gameplay feature, and I indeed lost quite a bit of prestige from it.

read the "just kidding" part carefully :D And that "maybe not" part meant that you most likely received prestige hit.

Real Men Don't Cheat (and we know that)

Edit : Judas, my bet is for "under". The bet is something like... keg of beer :D

I'd explain it away by saying that Otto put on an enormous silly hat and demanded surrender in the name of the Empire!

At that sort of distance, they must have thought he was the Emperor, just a terrible misunderstanding, really ;)

On to Achaia!

Even in ancient times the sayer of Dibs/Zoink held special powers it seems.

It worked, it worked. Although the evil emperor stole your siege you still gained the province, really good that you got some good news at last, now it is time to move forward and capture more land:)
