A new anonymous AAR, and even a CK one. Can’t say I have read to many CK AARs, but this looks nice so I will be reading this. Looking forward to it :)

Why did anonymous4401 post such a boring update where nothing happened? Why is anonymous4401 copying phargle's style wholesale? Copying wouldn't even be an apt descriptor for it, for it is more like anonymous4401 hunting down and killing phargle, and writing updates while wearing his skin. What is anonymous4401 doing in Crusader Kings anyways? He never comes here! Go away, anonymous4401! All will be revealed in the next exciting episode of Real Men Do It Alphabetically, an AARgau!
Quite on spot what circulates in my head right now.

This be the third CK AAR I read, the other two is by phargle. Strange as I did not come here by the link in anonymous sig but decided, what about I try to find a new started CK AAR that I can follow? Can I never find an CK AAR to read by a author I don't know form other places?

EDIT: I forgot about The tower of fear. Stupid me.

The task at hand.

Chapter 1: Abauj

As told with many pictures. And a moderate amount of words.

(All formats, fonts, layouts, and even this little disclaimer stolen blatantly from phargle's
Knud Knýtling, Prince of Denmark (and other assorted tales))

Remember that really long list of provinces in the first post? Well, I'm going to post it again, and indeed every time a new Chapter starts, as a new Chapter starts every time the next alphabetical province is taken, and this will let everybody retain a little perspective. And now, perspective!

So Abauj, in yellow, is naturally next.

ScreenSave11.jpg

Know thy enemy. This is Abauj, a poor, 0.60-base-income county in the middle of Hungary. In a normal game of CK I would pass such a province up completely. But this is my game, and we do things a little differently!

ScreenSave5.jpg

This is Frankenstein, the Count of Abauj. He went to Gruff Diplomat School while good ol' Werner went to Tough Soldier School, so of course they hate each other. Or at least Werner hates Belenik, as the latter is sitting on the throne of Abauj, not knowing that it is the von Habsburg's destiny to conquer the world, in alphabetical order!

ScreenSave6.jpg

This is his son, Almos. We hate him, too.

ScreenSave12.jpg

And this is a nice way to show my realm's Laws as well as show that Abauj practices Semisalic Primogeniture.

Belenik's wife is of forty years of age, and they have only one son. A plan is formed. Almos will marry and will have an eldest daughter. In sixteen years, we shall marry our own Otto von Habsburg to that daughter, and a son will be produced who will be in line for both the County of Aargau and the County of Abauj. Then we will kill every other male heir of Almos before the von Habsburg child in the line of succession. The plan is foolproof. What can go wrong?

Hey, that wasn't funny, what's going on? And why did you take so long to update? Surely it couldn't have taken that long to write that! And when is Knud Knýtling coming back? That AAR is so much better! Find out next time on the next exciting episode of Real Men Do It Alphabetically, an AARgau!

I don't think it helps the readability of this AAR to include that long list of counties. I suggest updating the inital list, highlighting your "current" target in yellow, with a note on the page that says the current target is such-and-such. Then you can start each chapter with the name of the county you are attempting (succeeding) in taking over.

They have better stats than you, so of course you hate them!

I am intrigued as to just how you will reach them. I hope there's a military campaign and not marry daughter to son, bump off father of the groom and then bump off son-in-law to allow Hapsburg claim to county.

I reaaaally can't think of anything... :D

I too think the timespan will need some hurrying up. There's a lot of provinces, and not that many years. Of course, starting out as a count you probably don't have any choice in the matter.

Also, it might well aid comprehension to update the list of provinces first posted as you work your way down, and at the start of each chapter simply post a small except of where you are. Because it is a very long list to page down.

I think that a better compromise would to do the countries in the same alphabetical group, giving you a better range of targets. Unless you want to spend 16 years on each target?

And poor Phargle...

I think it helps the obnoxious humor, though. :D

On the other hand, what he's going to do when he hits the first Byz cum Seljuk territory is going to be amusing... :)

j.

Seems this AAR will last for a long time if every little province will take this long to capture. Still the plan seems very well, but I guess there are something that might go wrong…

I think that to add a bit more challenge to this you should only grant yourself Duke and King titles in alphabetical order as well. :p :D

Copy phargle more. It helps. Really.

Why is everyone looking at me? Why does this keep happening?

Yeah. More of a challenge.....which means more time....

I hope to see a bit more non-alphabetical text in the next update Anonymous. I was a bit dissapointed by the ammount of funny jokes in it. But, of course I can understand. You where being interviewed at the same time :p

Aargau is a very technologically poor province. The good news is that so are its neighbors. The bad news is that I won't be able to annex a single one of my neighbors until we get to the 'B's.

ScreenSave16.jpg

A noble of some subtlety? What does that even mean? Subtlety? What? Is that a euphemism?

ScreenSave17.jpg

Well, whoever he is, he has tiny, tiny eyes, which makes him perfect for the job of Spy Master. Seriously, those eyes are tiny. I can't even really tell if they're there. Oh no. This won't be like Event Horizon, will it?

ScreenSave18.jpg

I send all my problems to the court, because I hate-

Wait, that's not right. That doesn't even make any sense, because if I send my problems to the court I'm not really sending them away at all! I live in the court! And that doesn't make any sense! This AAR isn't supposed to be from the point of view of the count, but rather the player, me! Oh, I messed this up. Can I start over?

ScreenSave19.jpg

Both her unibrow and name scare me very deeply, so I accept this unexpected offer. The 13 prestige also helps.

ScreenSave22.jpg

I send all my problems to the nannies, because I don't want the little brat bothering me with an event every time he pricks a finger or kills a servant or becomes schizophrenic. And that applies if I'm writing in first-person or third.

ScreenSave23.jpg

And I especially don't want to be bothered with events concerning my daughter. I mean, Count Werner von Habsburg's daughter. Darn, I messed it up again! How does that keep happening?

Will anonymous4401 give in to the pressure of making his AAR more like phargle's, or will he stick to his original intention of it being CK's only gameplay-based AAR? Or will he flip and flop ineffectively between the two like he's now doing? Why are we even reading this, anyways, now that Knud Knýtling has begun updating again? Find out next time on the next exciting episode of Real Men Do It Alphabetically, an AARgau!

Interesting to se you are having problems with deciding upon format ;) I think you should just give in and steal even more from phargle…
Also seems like you are doing nice with the children, no point in having them run around so it sounds nice to have the nannies take care of them so that you can focus on different things… like annexing provinces in an alphabetical order.
