Real men with lots of vassal counts could have to waste a lot of time re-conquering lost provinces in alphabetical order because they got excommunicated :p

Chapter 30: Alcantara

Yeah all right a daughter that's just what I needed (I am being sarcastic I do not need another daughter)

ScreenSave1061.jpg

Anyways yeah let's get this started.

ScreenSave1063.jpg

I replace an Italian Bishop with an Italian Count.

ScreenSave1064.jpg

Well that's unfortunate. I was hoping to remove him from the general queue.

ScreenSave1065.jpg

Meanwhile my depleted regiments arrive at their target province.

ScreenSave1066.jpg

And the Chancellor that has never done anything interesting does something interesting by getting sick.

ScreenSave1068.jpg

And when danger reared its ugly head

ScreenSave1069.jpg

Sir Alfonso turned his tail and fled

ScreenSave1071.jpg

And then fled once more because there were some Badajozs in Mertola

ScreenSave1072.jpg

But don't worry because now the Badajozs are sieging the King of England's demesne provinces in NW Spain, so Alfonso's army can sneak back into Alcantara and take it before they turn back.

Also some Scottish vassals offered me money for peace over the course of a month so of course I accepted. Even the gold of the filthy Scot is legal tender in the lands of the Abydosan Empire. The saga continues in the next thrilling episode of Real Men Do It Alphabetically, an AARgau!

And as you can see, the plan to start besieging the province while all of the enemy's armies were busy somewhere else is working like a charm!

ScreenSave1079.jpg

Oh yes. That would be very nice. Especially if I don't get excommunicated. Man, it would be nice.

ScreenSave1080.jpg

Man that's great.

ScreenSave1081.jpg

That's great too.

ScreenSave1082.jpg

And Maredudd O'Brien the Bishop of the Blurry Clown gets another province. Also it turns out that giving a province to an already-existing Bishop does not give you piety.

ScreenSave1083.jpg

It would certainly be embarrassing if I gain Alcantara only to lose Alcacer do Sal.

ScreenSave1084.jpg

It's time to give up Al Djazair, and I do so to the newest guy in my court that I've never heard of before.

ScreenSave1085.jpg

Alas, treachery! It's that dang Mertola province again. Will the Abydosan army not only prevail, but also make it to Alcacer do Sal in time to stop the siege? Or will they succeed in one and not the other? Or perhaps neither?

ScreenSave1086.jpg

The answer is none of those! All of you lose!

ScreenSave1087.jpg

Also the King of Scotland white-peaces.

And so the Duchy of Abydos is at peace. That's not going to last. The saga continues in the next thrilling episode of Real Men Do It Alphabetically, an AARgau!

This is the province of Aleppo. As a rich Middle Eastern province it is richer and more advanced than those loser provinces in Europe.

ScreenSave1089.jpg

This is the ruler of Aleppo, who is the High Chief of Mecklemburg. Yes, the High Chief of Mecklemburg, which occupies a swath across northern Germany, is ruling his realm from Syria. How he got there is a long story.

ScreenSave1091.jpg

A story that will be but a footnote in the history of Aleppo, as very soon it shall be annexed to the Abydosan Empire!

ScreenSave1092.jpg

And for good measure I raise the regiments in eastern Syria as well.

ScreenSave1095.jpg

Time to start rockin'!

ScreenSave1096.jpg

And Johann gets to start rocking earlier, as merely eight days after the declaration of war he fights with a Mecklemburgian regiment. Apparently the Mecklemburgs just happened to have a regiment wandering around the Syrian coast!

ScreenSave1098.jpg

Not that it mattered.

ScreenSave1100.jpg

And here is a picture of Mecklemburg, so you can see just how well they are doing against the non-pagans. Granted, most of the land was actually taken from German dukes that had broken off from the Kingdom, of which there just happens to be plenty. But still, MAN!

ScreenSave1102.jpg

Oh and here you can see a three-way battle between the Emirate of Amman, the Empire of Byzantium, and the Kingdom of Seljuk Turks in Alexandretta.

ScreenSave1103.jpg

Which will be seeing another battle pretty soon!

Boy those crazy Pagans. The Lithuanians have annexed two-thirds of Poland as well, and if the Bolgars wouldn't insist on having the exact same color as the Kievans and the Seljuk Turks (whose idea was that?) I would be able to tell how Russia is doing. But then it will be more like figuring out how much of it belongs to the Seljuks and how much to the Bolgars. And England's gains in Spain are being somewhat reversed since the Badajozs are pretty much unchecked but that is a story for exactly three provinces later! Everything goes to hell in the next adventurous episode of Real Men Do It Alphabetically, an AARgau!

You're soon going to be at Altmark and Anhalt. You are just piling up those enemies. Are you forgetting that the peacemakers are blessed because you have no chaplain or is there some hellish explanation?

Meantime, back to sunny Spain.

Well done! And yes, its better that you took it before the reinforcements arrived, who knows what would have happened otherwise.

So on to... hmm.. Abydos! What's the situation over there?

Well, I've reached page 15. And now (and I swear, I have NOT cheated and looked ahead) it occurs to me that while taking Abydos may take a while, it will solve the demesne problem, being a 1-county duchy. After all, while there may be a limit on personal demesne size, there's no limit to the number of vassals a Duke can hold, is there?

(No, don't answer. By the time I get to page 75 with the rest of you, I'll know...:)

Real Men are Considering to Turn Pagan, perhaps? :D

Alright guys, just reminding you that the AARland Choice AwAARds 2007 Q3 are running for one more week, so get your votes in. And not only for CK but for the other subforums too, especially all of them. And not only for the subforums, but especially especially the New Writer and Graphics Categories, especially the Graphics Category. And the New Writer Category.

Also when Deus Vult gets playable I have a narrative comedy in mind that I promise I will not become embarrassed of or stop updating for no reason or stop updating purposefully just because somebody said 'moar' in the comments. By the way nobody ever say 'moar' or anything like that in the comments or else I will stop updating it. Honestly. Do not test me on this. I guess I had no reason to tell you this except that maybe some of you will become very motivated to inform me exactly when Deus Vult becomes playable so that I will be able to know instantly when everyone else knows without any effort on my part.

Of course there is a very good reason why I am planning a new narrative comedy and that is because people are voting Real Men Do It Alphabetically as their Favorite Comedy AAR, CK. Which is alright I guess but they do it and then not put in a vote for anything in the Favorite Gameplay AAR, CK. RMDA is a Gameplay AAR guys. I'm not even sure if there is any other.

Only practice for the Real Thing.

This is the province of Alexandretta. Alexander sure loved naming cities after himself.

ScreenSave1105.jpg

This is the bald angry guy who rules Alexandretta. He is so bald and angry that he is a Kinslayer, and also rules two of the richest provinces in the Middle East. And if his facial hair were continuous I could pretend that he had a Fu Manchu moustache.

ScreenSave1106.jpg

On with the show.

ScreenSave1107.jpg

Oh and apparently Abydos is strong enough to intimidate small, poor kingdoms now. Small, poor kingdoms like the High Chiefdom of Mecklemburg which gave me 500 ducats for peace, as I requested.

ScreenSave1108.jpg

And Johann does battle with the depleted armies of the Emirate of Amman, which were depleted in the earlier battle with the Byzantines we witnessed in the last update. Very convenient!

ScreenSave1109.jpg

So convenient even Johann couldn't mess it up.

ScreenSave1110.jpg

Yeah, to a Muslim Shiekdom in northern Italy, two years ago.

ScreenSave1112.jpg

And that was right quick.

ScreenSave1115.jpg

And again, I demanded the maximum sum of money and he paid! Boy it sure feels great to not be the one that is getting on their hands and knees, begging for peace!

ScreenSave1118.jpg

Since the acquisition of these two rich provinces are bumping up my demesne count I let go one of my now-poorer provinces to a bald, angry Irishman.

That bald, angry Irishman also happens to be the father of Maredudd O'Brien the Bishop of Albarracin and Alcacer do Sal! And curiously enough when he inherits, he does not become the Bishop of Alcacer do Sal, Albarracin, and Albret, but instead becomes the Count of Albarracin, Alcacer do Sal, and Albret! This has been Game Mechanics Trivia So Trivial It Will Never Affect Anybody's Game With anonymous4401! All this and more in the next thrilling episode of Real Men Do It Alphabetically, an AARgau!
