I found some old Soviet songs and marches of 1920-1970 and replaced standard HOI2 musical themes. I like to play as USSR and have those songs as background...
Maybe smb will find this mod interesting so I'm giving a link here

Infuriating that due to the way my Internet Service Provider uses a proxy cache and the way that Rapidshare checks I.P.s, I can't use Rapidshare, and a lot of people in UK have similar problem. But most if not all tracks can be downloaded one at a time from various historic music sites which are well-known on these forums.

But the translated notes are good.

Many Soviet songs were adopted by various countries.
Anyway, most (if not all) of these can be found on english.sovmusic.ru so no one worry.

I ignored many songs knowingly...
"Katusha", "Smuglyanka" etc... those songs are light, playful, have a "cheerful mood"...
I prefered triumphant and solemn tones...

If u have ur own favorite songs then use them... It gives much more new fun to the game.

Shouldn't peacetime have a more cheerful and at time solemn moond while war time should only have a very solemn or a very militaristic one?

Spasiba muchly Obivan! These songs bring a glad tear to the eye and make playing HOI2 as Rodina a much more uplifting experience.

Also while all you tovaritshi are gathered:

1) I'd be very interested to get opinions on the best MOD finished / under development from the viewpoint of playing Russia / the SU at any period.

2) I am really disappointed in the actual "Doomsday" scenario in HOI2 Doomsday. Have many here played it? Moscow and Kuybyshev wiped flat by OBLAST WIDE yield nukes in the first few seconds (the Yanks didn't even have supernukes that powerful then. Do they now?); the Comintern consisting only of the SU up against multiple unscarred alliances - are we supposed to woo/co-opt other members in the few years to 1953 after being locked into Diplomatic pariahdom by the invasion of Western Europe? Hmmm....

I also haven't been very successful with the (HOI2 Doomsday) SU running the 1936 - Scenario however much I build up the industrial base, and upgrade anti-tank and T34 armies and supported with squadrons of good old Sturmoviks & better..... They were commanded by the right ranking Generals, (the "Auto Promote Officers" AI doesn't work in vanilla Doomsday, I'm hoping that is fixed with the latest patch, but it aint in the support docs... I'm giving the patched version a go tonight.)

Probably the problem is mostly just my inexperience. Reading some of the USSR AARs the fact that I left the Soyuz lousy with spies was not all that good ) Are others holding their own in HOI2 Doomsday edition when Barbarossa roles in?

....but I would have thought a 15/1 division superiority with the above tanks & planes + latest advances behind them in doctrine and kit would shift the small Swedish defenders, or make at least make a DENT in the Whermacht by 1943...

I must be doing something majorly wrong!!!

This is not really the place I suppose for such a discussion. Is there a forum we can discuss SU strategies and game related issues? If not it might be an idea to start one.
