July 23rd, 1945 - July 25th, 1945

02:00 - 07:00 July 23rd, 1945

Dogger, southwest 4, rising, poor, becoming moderate. Cromarty, northeast 9, falling, fair, veering west, severe gale 9 to violent storm 11. Rain, then squally showers.

That was the shipping forecast. In half an hour we have the Empire Programme. This is the BBC. Now it is time for the 12 o' clock news.

Good evening. Fighting continues in Easter Europe. French forces have helped push back the Bolsheviks, with morale among the former prisoners of war who form the detachment said to be high.

Whee, some success!

Only if you trust the BBC's wartime reporting! Is Von Uber censoring the information that we're getting? Has Czechoslovakia really fallen?
Or is it all just one big dirty cover-up of the fact that Germany has fallen to the communists?
Yep, I've seen "All the President's Men" today :p

Why, I'd never doubt the BBC news. We have millions of men, we've taken Moscow twice already but gave it back in the name of fairness and we are allied to trillions of nations. I see no flaws there. And why would they lie to us?

Great update! I doubt it will be long now before the Russians break. I notice also that your belligerence in that pic of annexing Czechoslovakia was 118! Pretty high for a democracy.

Yes there will be an update at some point, am just sorting my life out a bit :)

Nice update. I would love to see that Bicycle Corps in action, though.

It wouldn't differ from normal troops. There were bicycle corps in Finland during Winter War at least. They were called that because they used bicycles for transportation, during battle they naturally discarded the bikes :).

do the bicycle corps have those old-timey bikes with the big wheels?

I'm off to Vienna on Monday! (Part 1)

July 25th, 1945 - August 1st, 1945

16:00 July 25th, 1945 - 04:00 July 26th, 1945

Radom is attacked - at first it looks like we can hold on, but the odds rapidly go against us.

july25th16july26th04gs8.jpg

We decide to try and cause a nuisance down south to divert the a.i.

july26th04rf6.jpg

06:00 July 27th, 1945 - 08:00 July 28th, 1945

However, the Soviets have other ideas clearly!

july27th06july28th08qu2.jpg

04:00 July 29th, 1945

Radom falls. And it can only get worse.

july29th04tg4.jpg

10:00

For example: large Soviet forces attacking our advance troops.

july29th10wb5.jpg

06:00 July 30th, 1945

With predictable results.

july30th06bb5.jpg

14:00

Back in Radom, we blow a Soviet division to pieces. A small victory.

july30th14eu0.jpg

August 1st

Europe. It's a disaster.

august1st0001ih3.jpg

The Far East - it's a mess.

august1st0002ap6.jpg

Although in the Phillipines, The UK seems to be doing something. Which is really useful as Europe gets overrun.

I'm off to Vienna on Monday! (Part 2)

August 1st, 1945 - August 7th, 1945

14:00 August 1st, 1945

More pressure in the south.

august1st14mt1.jpg

00:00 August 2nd, 1945

Another major disaster. Heads will roll for sure. And why can't I have this a.i on my side eh?

august2nd00on5.jpg

10:00

Over in the west, the troops in Stryj are defeated...

august2nd1001ny8.jpg

.. Bratislava falls...

august2nd1002yk1.jpg

.. and we advance into Radom which is now empty.

august2nd1003hu3.jpg

10:00 August 3rd, 1945

Presov is gone now. There is something wrong with our tanks today.

august3rd10lv2.jpg

20:00

And Kosice as well. We are in danger of being cut off! Oops!

august3rd20rm9.jpg

16:00 August 6th, 1945

We arrive in Radom - and get mugged.

august6th16sf7.jpg

00:00 August 7th, 1945

Unsurprisingly we are swiftly ejected from Radom.

august7th00ne6.jpg

22:00

The noose tightens on the Republic.

august7th22oh1.jpg

I'm off to Vienna on Monday! (Part 3)

August 7th, 1945 - August 16th, 1945

23:00 August 7th, 1945

Our forces threatening the Soviet flank is attacked. Why did the a.i choose now to not be stupid eh?

august7th23os0.jpg

05:00 August 9th, 1945

However, our troops are better trained, better motivated and better led! Huzzah!

august9th05vd3.jpg

04:00 August 12th, 1945

Radom falls. Again.

august12th04nn2.jpg

00:00 August 13th, 1245

Unbeknownst to you, I had withdrawn the armour units from Grodno (replaced with infantry) to conduct some secret operations elsewhere. However, this is obvious to the a.i. it seems!

august13th001yu3.jpg

So we desperately try to spoil this..

august13th002jm9.jpg

09:00

We foil one attack.

august13th09qs5.jpg

12:00

But not here...

august13th12cb9.jpg

17:00

... or here! Hmmm.

august13th17mr3.jpg

05:00 August 14th, 1945

It is down to the troops in Grodno to hold on alone. Tense hours pass - but then the news comes in: we have won. But at what cost? All the troops along the line are exhausted, several formations have been shattered. If (when?) the Soviets try again, the outcome could be very different.

august14th05rb1.jpg

August 16th, 1945

Lastly, some tech.. should hopefully help with manpower issues. I seem to be leaking men like a sieve.

I have to say this is my favourite hearts of iron AAR (that I didn't write)!
1. Great nation choice
2. Excellent presentation
3. The AI actually fights you (although attacking on land is what the AI does best - if I am permitted to call something it does "best")!
