    Hungarian Modifications Pack Release

The Hungarian Modifications Pack for HOI2: Doomsday adds many more options to the Hungarian player than with standard HOI2, new unit names, new events, several new tech teams, and generally options for both a deeper historical and an ahistorical outcome. All the needed files and installation instructions are contained. The Hungarian Music Pack contains several Hungarian songs from the WW2 era, full installation instructions and your original HOI2: Doomsday soundtrack will still play, although these Hungarian songs will play first.

Anyone wishing to contribute or comment on the mod is welcome to.

    Data files (v1.2):
    Download them here or here

Music to be uploaded a bit later

    Credits:
Thanks to Afalsejedi for making the Hungarian monarchy flag, shield
    and counter.

Thanks to T-hiddemen for making the Hungarian skin.

Thanks to kunadam for rewriting ministers and tech teams with proper name order.

    Nah.
I hadn't had time to look through it, but I have to say I love Hungary in HoI2.
So much potential and unsettled historical claims, yet so few events made for it.
    Thanks.

Very nice indeed. I haven't had a chance to check out the mod itself, but the music is wonderful. I was just wondering if you could tell me more about these songs, what they mean (or have meant) for Hungary and so on?

    Sure, the 7 songs are:
hoi2-anthem: "Himnusz", written in 1844. The national anthem of Hungary.

hoi2-civil: Don't even know the real name of this one, but they use it for alot in Hungary. In WW2 it was used on military occassions, in the communist era, they used to play it in movie theaters just before a movie started and the credits were rolling(movies used to show the credits at the beginning back then ), and it's also the opening music for some Hungarian radio stations. This music was default in HOI1, so you can probably check it on the playlist to find the name.

hoi2-communism: "Zengjuk a Dalt", not sure when it was made, but was an important part of the "Soviet-Hungarian cultural exchange friendship", besides being used for visiting Soviet officials, it was also a camp-fire song used by the Pioneers(Hungarian version of Boy Scouts)

hoi2-hope: "Rosza, Rosza, Bazsarosza", I didn't even know about this until I checked that link in the HOI2 Wiki for military music, made in 1940, it's about a soldier who wishes the war would end and that roses would grow on the battlefields.

hoi2-nation: Called "Szózat" , written in 1836, it's mainly liked by nationalists and usually played after the anthem these days. Mostly about defending the country, etc.

hoi2-parade: Not sure what this one is called, but it was by the Hungarian Army Band, and I'd see it played in a movie set in WW2 Hungary, so that was good enough for me

hoi2-soldier: "Bakanotak", made in 1942, alot of stuff mixed in, mostly about defending Hungary, precious Hungarian soil, etc, some parts about Horthy and how he's a great leader, some parts about the soldier saying good-bye to a girl, adding that he'll never be the (Austrian) Kaiser's soldier again....This was also from the HOI2 Wiki, and I'd never heard of it before.

Oh, and in regards to the actual mod itself, I've only added about 3 flavor events, added 2 seperate events for entering the Axis, 2 events for leaving the Axis if Germany is losing....and about 3 events for German tech assistance. There's still minister switches to code, exploiting the German invasions of Poland to grab a little something.....and some other flavor events. I only wanted to release something so I could begin working on that other mod I'm doing(the one in my sig), the only problem is, Operation Flashpoint requires more graphics knowledge than I have, so v.2 of HIP may have to wait for a bit.

Okay, thanks a lot. I had heard Zengjuk A Dalt years ago but I'd always assumed it was a Soviet song and not a Hungarian one. Oh, and my iTunes claims that hoi2-parade is a song called Hónved-banda by Ábrahám Pál from an album called Magyar vér.

Ya, Honvéd Banda means "Army Band", and Magyar Vér is "Hungarian blood". The tricky part is, I've never heard of a song called "Hungarian Blood", so rather than guess, I just said I didn't know

The syndicalist atmospheric pack for Kaiserreich has the Hungarian version of "Smelo tovarishi v nogu", which would make a good addition to this.

Glad you're making a mod for AA, I've been waiting for AA for some time, nice to see some more of the community around. I've downloaded the music pack, will probably download the changed events later, good music so far. Keep up the good work.

    What are the ahistorical events?
"How much easier it is to be critical than to be correct." - Benjamin Disraeli

"Morality may consist solely in the courage of making a choice." - Leon Blum

Assuming that the Axis wins the war, there are events for Hungary getting their Croatian claims, and some events for getting technical assistance from the Germans(particularily, a few naval tech teams, so Hungary will actually be able to research basic destroyers before the game ends.....)

Whenever I get some time to do a 2nd edition(this first one just fixed some stuff and added some very basic stuff), I'll handle ahistorical stuff like Hungary getting a cut of the Soviet Union if the Axis wins, getting Slovakia and revamping the war with Romania a bit, oh, and making the appropriate minister switches and all that. Hungary had alot of head of government's in this era.....

An update, I have now learned that hoi2-civil is in fact Franz Liszt's 15th Rhapsody, otherwise known as the "Rákóczy March"

Hungary definitely need a heck of a lot ahistroical event.

For example if Rumania is partitioned between BUL and HUN in the Bulgarian-Rumanian war, then Translylvania becomes national province for Hungary. On the other hand if you just annex Rumannia, no such thing happen.
Same goes with Yugoslavia, which should also yield some national provinces.

Furthermore HUN should rejoice if all of their former provineces are retaken.

Strangely enough most of croatia is given to Italy if they part of the war. Now I think there should be some event to counter that. I mean even back in the X. century Croatia decided to side with HUN as being the lesser evil, than Venice.

Victor 1234 can you tell us anything about the Hungarian music here http://www.bibl.u-szeged.hu/ha/zene/ ?

Also, Rapidshare doesn't work for me, and I know I'm not the only one. Anychance you could also upload to here http://www.bigupload.com/ ?

    Cheers.

At the moment I'm close to releasing a v1.1
It'll feature lots of more events(so far, lots of negotiations and options for Hungary in regards to the early war, deals with Poland, splitting Czechoslovakia with Germany, the First Vienna Award, allowing Polish refugees transit or not(leading to Free Polish units popping up for the UK), every historical minister switch included, with ahistorical options as replacements. New event chain for US or Allies reaching Hungary first(v1 just has events for USSR reaching first).

kunadam: With the mod installed, if you start playing with the 1936 scenario, you have cores on all pre-Trianon land right from the start. There's also an event for Italy transferring an Adriatic port in Croatia to Hungary, in the event of an Axis win. But the various wars in the Balkans will have more events in the next release. The Italian thing is due to Mussolini's desire for a revived Roman empire, but I guess ahistorical options are needed.

flock: The website apparantely has Hungarian music from the 30's on it. Doesn't seem to be war-oriented, but since I hadn't expected to release a music pack in the first place, I only took 6 or so songs that I had handy. In the next release however, I'm also adding 2 new ones(possibly more now with this site) and a playlist in the readme. And sure thing, will upload the stuff to bigupload as well, I just read about the problems UK users are having with rapidshare today.
