    convoy transports and destroyers are only avilable in 99 queues - I don't think I've played a game where they aren't.

    Yoy21: this mod has been around for at least a year that I know of, probably longer

    Spitfire_pilot: I've never seen the Republicans win in AIvsAI. Sometimes they make huge gains but Franco always beats them back.

    a

    1937, the boring half

    The year starts with good news. The Emperor has decided to raise the budget for the armed forces. I can now spend 57 out of 169 IC.
    I order the training of
    -2*7 engineers
    -5 MP brigades
    -3*5 artillery
    -2 infantry

    The only events of importance in the first two months are the completed training of 1 marine and 3 mountaineer units.

    March the upgrading of my interceptors is nearly done, the IC freed by this is used to construct one infantry unit. It will be ready before the Marco Polo Bridge event fires. A few weeks later the upgrading is finished and I can order the training of 3 extra infantry units. They will not be ready for the early days of the war against China.
    Nearly at the same time 2 infantry units finish their training. I order a new CL to be build and the left over IC is used to build supplies.

    The last few days of april are rather eventful. 3 mountaineer units finish their training. I also get reports of large uprisings in India against the Brittish.
    Lovely, every Englishman killed by them is one less that can fight against our troops.

    Only noteworthy event in may is the finished training of the 5MP brigades. Two are added to my cavalry units and three go to the garrisons. I order two new brigades for the remaining two garrison.

    June turns out to be a busy month. I start shipping my army to China and reorganising my fleet.
    5 Fleets are created

    Fleet 1, rear Admiral Yamamoto, 6 ships
    2 '36 BB and my '41CVL +escorts

    Fleet 2 , Admiral Nagano, 18 ships
    4BB, 4BC, 1CA +escorts

    Fleet 3, rear admiral Ozawa, 6ships
    2CV,1CA+ escorts

    Fleet 4, rear admiral Tyre
    6submarines

    I also sell my level 1 coastal submarines to the Germans. I can't use them, maybe they'll have a use for them.

    Fleet 1,3 and for will hunt for the small Chinese fleet. Fleet 2 will be used for shorebombardement.

    The army will be organised in groups of 3 divisions. Most will have 3 infantry units (2art+1eng). They are commanded by an Lt. General.
    2 groups will exist of 2infantry + 1 HQ. These are command by a fieldmarshal and a general. A few groups of infantry without brigades are comanded by some Lt. General and mj. Generals. My mountaineers are commanded by a single LT. General and my 5 commando mj. Generals. They'll have to stay near a HQ to fight effectively.

    The only troops left on the Home Islands are 6 garrison, two cavalry and 2 marine divisions.

    Kalgan: 6 mountaineers, 1HQ, 5 infantry
    Changde: 3 infantry

    only the TP is sunk. The rest of their fleet will be sunk by various fleets in the next two weeks. Only the subfleet won't sink a single ship, it even get's defeated . Luckily I lose not a single point of strength and my subleader gains a skilllevel

    additional troops are mobilized

    the economy grows

    at the same time the construction of my last marine and 4 infantry units is finished. Now I'll only have to wait for my mountaineers and some brigades to be finished and I'll be able to do some nice naval invasions .

    July 28
    Pitman Act signed. US sends aid and supplies to the Kuomingtang
    They'll pay for that.

    The Japanese forces are sweeping away all opposition and slowly conquering provinces.

    August 13

    Our current gains. Most Chinese units have been pushed back, one was destroyed in surrounded Beiping. My leaders have gained much experience and some skill. Some of my commande skill 1 mj.Generals are now skill 2 with 90 experience

    Chinese forces in Yuling defeated, battle lasted nearly a month
    I love those long battles you get while playing HIP.

    August 25


    My marines land in Shangai. Few hours later transports with reinforcements are unloaded. 14 units are now located in the undefende Chinese rear.

    August 28
    My 3 mountaineers in Tokyo get engineer brigades. Soon they'll reinforce the Shangai landing.

    September 3
    Level 3 bomber researched. All IC to upgrading of bombers.

    September 12

    Troops misbehave. This won't make us friends.

    September 14
    Operation Zet started. Soviet equipment send to Kuomintang.
    Is this the result of the Nanking Massacre?

    September 18

    Those ships were probably filled with weapons from the Pitman Act. No reparations will be paid.

    Meanwhile the troops that landed in Shangai link up with oour main army. 3 Chinese units destroyed in the resulting pocket.

    October 7
    Fieldmarshal Terauchi T.gains the mountaineer trait when attacking Chinese forces in Zhengzou.

    October 28
    Bombers upgraded. Start bombing runs based out of Shangai. Ground attack rips retreating Chinese units to shreds.

    Conquests on october 28

    The slow but steady advance against Chinese forces continues. I pressed down south fast enough to leave the winter weather behind me? Fighting will continue in the winter months.

    Advances are fastest near the coast thanks too my bombers.

    Jacko the Panda: you should, I've played many mods and like this one best. Can't play any HOI without it.

    Lifeless: I'll need plenty of both when I try to take on the US.
    They can have 8 times or more the IC I can have

    General Jac: I love marines. Once China is finished I'll build more

    stnylan: do the last updates answer you questions about amphibious landings.

    Some people might have noticed that by now I could have annexed both Shanxi and the Communists but I didn't. Why? Two reasons.

    Challenge:if I don't annex them their unist will remain in game to oppose me.
    Bad boy: annexing gives bad boy. If later on I annex the Kuomintang and release it as a puppet those non-annexed yet controled provinces will go to this puppet. I won't gain BB for annexing them but I will lose BB for releasing them as a puppet It's a win-win situation, unless you are Chinese ofcourse.

    Yes - and that tends to happen in China... I was playing a DD game as NatChina on the Doomsday scenario and, just as I was to deliver the decisive blow on ComChina (I was marching into their capital region after shattering their army's resistance) - they then joined an alliance with the Soviet Union and were given all of Manchuria. Disaster! I kicked them from their entire starting position but alas, the USSR saved them and made life very difficult for me. (This was terrible for me. Not only did it stop me from crushing the communist Chinese threat once and for all, and force me to commit forces to Manchuria, it brought one of the two superpowers into war with me. Great.)

    So it's good to get them annexed quicklike and not have to worry about trudging through the trackless deserts of Sinkiang (Xinjiang?) or over the mountains of Tibet. I presume that would bog you down unacceptably, especially considering the hard line you're taking against the Americans. Plus it'll save troubles in Shanxi (? the southern clique.)

    The year starts with the Emperor increasing militairy expediture. I can now utilise 75 out of 194 IC.

    Our forces keepr pressing the Chinese foe.

    January 10
    The CL Katori is finished. I order the construction of 2 new '38 CL and the training of one interceptor and one tactical bomber squadron.
    Meanwile the training of the army to 1938 standard and artillery is progressing nicely.

    January 18
    Upgrading nearly finished. Freed IC is used to train 3 mountaineers and one naval bomber squadron.

    January 21
    I attack the 7 units pocketed in Baoji

    Notice the batlle for Lanzhou in the upper left corner of the screenshot. It has been going on for ages.

    January 28
    Bao'an pocket attacked. Baoji still holds.


    January 30
    Baoji pocket defeated. All trapped Chinese units destroyed.

    February 2
    We demand that Germany recognizes Manchuko. As per earlier agreement they agree. General von Falkenhausen and staff leave China.



    February 5
    The Bao'ang pcoket has been defeated and the battle for Lanzhou has been won. The Lanzhou battle cost me some 20MP, the Baoji pocket defeated earlier cost some 15MP. Battles can really hurt in HIP.

    Current Chinese capital captured. Victory is near.

    February 16

    Three divisions pocketed near the coast. They will be destroyed shortly.

    Hmmmm.... I don't know how "historical" those losses actually are... or the length of the battles. But it seems rather interresting regardless.

    It also seems that the Chinese are doomed already. What are your plans for the future then? I assume you will puppetize China, right? And after that?
    Support Tibetan, support Basque, support Catalan, support Chechnyan, Québécois, Tamili, Acehian, Kurdish and Kosovian independence!
