    The Yellow Fever

Welcome to my new pictorial AAR, now that Habsburg Europe 2 is over. I have always wanted to play an Asian country, and China seems like a very good one to start with. I know they have nasty revolt events, but i hope i can be smarter than the AI in handling therebels.

I am playing AGCEEP (huge fan!) on the vanilla map. The settings are very hard/coward, fantasy events are on.

I did not look at the chinese events, and probably will not do it, not because of some deep moral issue, i simply am too lazy to do it. So if i am doing something very wrong, please yell!

And without further ado, i bring to you: CHINA! (Fnuco dynasty)

    The early years.

Here is a map of China as I start the GC. The names of the neighbors (get used to them!) and underlined are China's useless vassals.

China is tolerant of all except Christians, which we do not even know exist. Let's just say we do not tolerate the idea of Christians. We have a pretty large army and navy, with a fairly advanced naval tech: 5. China is apparently in 2 alliances, which i hope to fix ASAP. First shift is towards Aristocracy, because i could use the bonus to DIP.

By some miracle, our Treasure fleet, under the command of eunuch Zheng He is off the coast of Gujarat.

These three provinces are obviously not worth keeping, with this insane Revolt Risk, but unfortunately i cannot release them as vassals. Guess i'll have to wait...

The treasure fleet discovers new nations, and we also ask for access through some of them. Very important is access so that the fleet can come back home without losing ships to atrition, and also access through Japan, as a start in exploring the Eastern Ocean and whatever lies beyond it.

I finally get a chance to release Dai Viet, although after they became independent, not my vassals, because their entire country was in the hand of rebels. I think a government collapse caused this.

This might very well be the world's first detective agency. Innovativeness goes down 1 point.

I *thought* something was wrong with this China. Its capital was in the wrong place. Well, problem solved.

We finally get the respect we deserve.

Zheng He really travels a lot:

Not sure this was the best choice, but i really needed the colonists. I am currently getting only 0.20 per year. And that just sucks.

As the treasure fleet sails through the waters of the Northern Pacific Ocean, i get this lovely event:

The first Chinese ever to set foot in America disembark to San Bernardino. The first of many...

    Another lovely RR-giving event:

Which ends the same year, luckily.

Help an ally against a vassal? I dont think so! At least now i only have one alliance, so the initial problem was solved.

I chose to improve relations a bit with my neighbors.

    End of first installment.

Good start. Revolt risk through the roof and plenty of explorations. Very nice. Looks nice I had no idea China gets so many events early on.

Excellent start, however revolts will be a continuous problem throughout your game.

I think continuing exploration is a good move though. China can not afford to stagnate.

Starting as we mean to go on with the revolts I guess. Nice to see the Fleet being put to good use.

    Wonderful start as usual, Fnuco.

However, IIRC, if you had kept Dai Viet, after a specific date you would gain Vietnan as a state culture. Since you can put 20k in each of those 3 provs to counter rebbellions, I usually try to keep those provs.

Great job Fnuco. I wasn't following your previous AARs because it seemed like time consuming ocupation but this is something special

I have never played Asian nation and this AAR is fenomenal. I would like to see something about strategy and even about particular wars in Asian conditions.

    Good work.

China has always been a fascinating prospect for an AAR. Let see where this goes... You seem to be off to a great start. Hopefully you can get some colonizing going. Try to find the Aztecs or something asap, because if I remember my history correctly, Zhang He did not survive long past 1419.

Invading the Aztecs, I discovered, is a great way to make money as China. I would go for it, if I were you. =)

Well, i feel that my game will be more against the REBs than against anyone else. and my morale is sooo sucky! about the events, remeber this is AGCEEP.

Thanks, too bad the treasure fleet cost so much inflation to maintain.

the fleet inspires awe wherever it passes, as we saw it makes Champa pay tribute even if Zheng He is near Alaska, but im not the one to complain...
