I've seen Germany win several times, especially when they choose to ignore Belgium and go for Russia first, which keeps Britain out of the war.

Yes it was, but I have to admit that except Belgium and Germany, all countries were running with the default AI (and therefore were quite weak)Originally Posted by hmatthias

Didn't check if this has been posted yet but there seems to be weird things going on in Russia... For several years (I think...) in the 1897 campaign Russia's IC was fluctuating wildly! (wildly = betwen 85 - 155) After a while it stopped... dunno how...
Anyways I'd be very surprised to find out that it's historical and not a bug...![]()
Russia is short on rare materials, this may cause the fluctuations. It has disappeared in the last 0.43 dev versions ...Originally Posted by Dracorex

still have counter problems with 0.42 version...
The counter problem is fixed in the current 0.43 dev, so if you do not mind downloading an experimental version, try it out (or take the counter strip from the dev version and do not use the rest).Originally Posted by flavius

i would like to readdress the issue im having.
Sweden, Finland, and Norway decided to go along with the "Scandinavian Union (???)" event. so Scandinavia is now a nation. but Norway and Finland are still independent. what happened? has it been addressed by the team? is it fixed?
sorry, but im pretty set on Scandinavia being my ally.
Is this the counter problem where some counters do not have borders, and others are half one counter and half another? If so, how does one fix that?Originally Posted by Tegetthoff
I am not familiar with this event series but taking a first glance at it, I have noticed that there is a small chance for each country to decline and that if either norway or denmark do not join, the whole union gets disbanded.Originally Posted by 09camaro
I have just tested it and the events worked for me, perhaps you were just unlucky with the responses. Try again if you have a save game just before triggering the union events.
I am playing the latest dev version, maybe that makes a difference but I would rather bet that these events were not changed recently (event file is dated Feb 27).
The counter strip has different lengths in various versions (the later the longer). It is fixed by extending the strip by the right amount. Fixes performed by Kriss_Nor are posted in other threads in this forum.Originally Posted by mathewannis

Is it on purpose that at the beginning of 1897 campaign Germany has some 1905 CLs in production queue although they don't have the tech?
For experimental purposes concerning the power of carriers against BBs, I just played a short game as Germany, teched to carriers and mostly ignored my army. When my fleet was finished in 1917 I attacked Britain and witnessed a swift and crushing defeat of my carriers by the hands (and guns) of British BBs.
But more importantly, I discovered a serious exploit: I reloaded and dowed France and Russia in 1917. That immediatly triggered "Economic Collapse", "Economic Strangulation", "Food Riots" and "More Foot Riots" to Russia which put them to 70% dissent at once. Italy stayed in the alliance and Bulgaria and Turkey wished to enter the same day.
Thus, without me doing anything, Russia was smashed within weeks and France surrendered soon after.
What we need to address are the following things:
1) Italy must leave the CP when a war is started unless they were bribed or decided to stay in which should sleep the leaving-CP event
2) We need to make sure, that those events that were meant to cripple Russia step by step because of exhaustion do not fire together. They should get an offset of 360 days starting in different months, so they will fire within the course of an year and never at once.
3) I am working on considerable modifications to the defeat events. They will make use of a new VP distribution and a flag system as soon as these are implented. Besides, I plan to make them work more like the TGW defeat events. England should not surrender even when France and Russia are beaten, but might offer a white peace. In general, I will add the possibility to reject pre-scripted peace events and keep on fighting and surrender checks will be more difficult to trigger.
@Tegetthoff: I lost my overview on the counter-strip issue. Could you please supply me with adequate files for each version as you not seem to have any problems with counters in your versions. Thank you very much!

I will do my best, but I am on a business trip until Thursday and may not have everything available.Originally Posted by v.Manstein

Thank you very much. If I get it on the Weekend, its absolutely okay.

v. Manstein:
I have checked the issue and the 080426 dev version contains the correct division counter strip in the right place.
So anybody using version 0.42 will have this problem in DD and ARM
And anybody using the latest 0.43 dev wth DD and ARM will not have this problem.
The brigade counter strip is a separate problem. The problem occures only in ARM (and currently we are not supporting ARM). Kriss_nor has produced a solution for this and I have just asked him for a little additional improvement. I plan to issue an ARM compatibility pack that will install over the 0.43 version. I will update my laptio ARM version to 1.2 tonight and then also start experimenting with moddir to see wether I can reproduce your results. In the course of this I will also identify the files necessary for the ARM compatibility pack.

alright. *sigh* now i gotta go in and do it again...Originally Posted by CookieCollector

I don't know if this has been discussed before but A-H lends more than 50% of its armed forces to (human) Ottoman Empire when war breaks out between CP and the Entente. Checked the AI and it says A-H will lend at most 10% of its forces... Of course if I give them back the next day they'll re-lend...
The bigger problem is that Germany starts lending some troops too and I get control of armies on the Russian and French border; and guess what happens when part of the defending force is led by the AI and the other part by a human... The French simply bash through Mulhausen and the Russians encircle and destroy 9 divisions in Memel.
Has this been already sorted out in v0.43?
Hey guys, here´s some playtest/bugreport from me
I´m currently playing a 1897 Scenario as Germany with the latest dev beta, playing with nofog:
that´s happened
Spanish - American War: Massive buildup of US troops (ca. 20-30 divs), a massive invasion of cuba (spain did nothing to defend cuba)
Result: usa got cuba, which became independent
Chinese Boxer War: before the boxers arrived, there was a giant partisan revolt throughout manchuria and mongolia. mongolia became independent but was quickly annexed later by a chinese "blitz" offensive. as the boxers arrived, some thing strange happened...
they did nothing and they were later annexed by me
Russo - Japanese War: Japan sent almost his whole army to korea. it seemed that japan would win this war, but suddenly, russian troops appeared from knowhere, encircled and destroyed every japanese div in korea
Result: russia won the war and has korea as its puppet
during this war, japan was able to send a transport fleet with troops inside from Tokio to the FINNISH COAST?!?!?! They had almost invaded helsinki as the peace events arrived...
That´s all for now. i´ve played until 1906 and will continue today...
edit: sorry i´ve posted this in the wrong thread... can somebody move that to the right thread?
