The peace events for Belgium in case of German Victory don't seem to trigger.

It may be a bug, but I am still fighting the brits and the russians.

Ehm it seems that I can't attach escort fighters to my bombers but the AI can.

And the post-war events for Russian defeat don't seem to work either.

    v0.43, Arma 1.2, Germany, 1911 scenario:

    - have you thought about preventing the US AI from building infantry alltogether in peactime? In my latest game they have the third largest military in the world in 1916. I don't think that's very historical, it took a lot of time for the US to train their infantry and send it to France.

    - Austria-Hungary and France AIs don't seem to be conducting any offensives. Especially Austria is pretty lame - they have huge stacks of about 20 inf. divisions facing the Italians with only 5 to 10 divisions in Venice and Milat respectively, but they don't attack. I am not sure if it's a bug, just thought it's worth mentioning. France should be more offensive minded in 1915 and 1917, but they're just sitting there and waiting for my attack.

    - When the war erupted historically in 1914, I (Germany) chose not to wage Weltkrieg (the event asking the player if he wants the Ottomans in the alliance). They joined anyway, like the event had no impact alltogether. Ottomans are really a pain in the ass, they were defeated in 1915/1916 after they send all their troops to Russia and got as far as Stalingrad, ehm, Tsarytsin, but they forgot to to garrison Turkey properly and a British invasion from the sea killed them. Perhaps the AI should leave more troops in Turkey to prevent this from happening.

Please give as much detail about that incidence as possible, that might help me locate the actual cause. Where you still at war with anyone when the event fired? If so, with whom? Which countries were already beaten at that point? What happened to Belgium in the meantime, did you annex it or did the peace events trigger as they should?

Did the error message say anything about missing files or did it give any hints at all about the cause? I will see to get these events fixed soon, but I'll be off the coming week.

No. Wait, perhaps I was at war with some of the nations in the East, which liberated themselves from the Soviet Russia.

But as far as the major powers are concerned, no.

Which countries were already beaten at that point?
I was not at war with the US in 1918, the northern France was occupied and the French threw in the towel, Britain chose to sign peace afterwards, Entente was defeated.

What happened to Belgium in the meantime, did you annex it or did the peace events trigger as they should?
An event "temporary return of provinces" fired and Belgium was "liberated". The buggy event fired during the peace negotiations with the French, together with many other events (ceding colonies and parts of france).

Did the error message say anything about missing files or did it give any hints at all about the cause?
Not at all. The event showed up, explaining why Germany wants to make France a client state. When I clicked "ok" (or "vorwärts", whatever) the screen blackened and the game crashed. I tried that multiple times and it always crashed.

I edited the event file and removed the command making France a puppet and then it was OK, but I have no idea how would it affect the game.

I am an idiot, I wanted to store the savegame file, but I accidentally deleted it

Anyway, further things that might be relevant:

    - I (germany) was mil. controlling Austria-Hungary and I had A-H troops in France when the event fired
    - some of my fleets were based at brest
    - some other guy than wilson won the US pres. elections
!! - there was a war between France and Spain in 1912 or 1913 I think over Morocco. I am not sure what happened, but some event fired and the Morocco (puppet and an ally of France) declared war on Spain. France steamrolled the spanish, so I switched players and made peace between France and Spain, Spain ceded their one-province colony in Africa. Morocco remained in Entente as a french pupper. Perhaps this have something to do with the crash, I don't know. During the peace negotiations, an event "Morocco to Germany" fired.

I recently downloaded 1914v.43 onto my computer (regular HOI2) and got to the main menu. i selected USA '87 and most of the way through the load an error message comes up: (Illegal Command Type) type = free-ic'line=27 file = db/events/rusfed.txt. I attempted to edit it but this made it worse so I just deleted the event (I made copies of the downloads just in case I have to reinstall). Then the same thing happened for a white russian event. Then it started claiming French events were screwed up so I just gave up. The problem prevents me from playing any campaign as any country. I can still play battle scenarios. Someone might have posted about this before but I dont have the patience to read every single post. Any help I would gladly appreciate.

Never mind. I solved the problem. I had to delete all events for France in '87 and several other events for other countries.

Hmm. I'd take a bet on this explanation. I am quite sure, that masters of puppet nations can not be puppets at the same time. I should check and have France leave any alliance it currently is in and release any puppets, then it should work.

So far, no one had reported crashes caused by this event, so it is probably a conflict to some very unlikely option and this sounds like a good reason. "Morocco to Germany" only cedes provinces btw. incase they are French as they would if the game run historically. As Morocco was still a puppet, it would not have any effect.

After downloading the game I try to start it but it crashes when loading while giving the message:Couldn't open file db\units\divisions\escorts.txt

How do I have to solve this?

No, that is not the problem. I tried again after redownloading it to make sure I have the right files, but it still gives the same error.

Nevermind, I think I found what I did wrong. I used a standard HoI2 map instead of Doomsday while running the DD version of the 1914 mod

what does it mean by Illegal model 9 for airships? is this something not implemented yet thats causing the crash?
I get the same error. I've recently noticed it as my savegames approach the mid 1920s. The furthest I've gotten is 1925 and what's interesting is that this error never occurs ingame, but only when I save and attempt to reload the scenario. I suppose if I kept the game running I could play well into the 50s.

The current error I get with my Japanese save, nearly identical to the one by Neoman.

    "--- ERROR: (Illegal model 9 for Airships) 'transport_plane = {' line = 138363 file = scenarios\save games\Japan_postwarconquests.eug ---"

Is there a way I can edit my scenario file to relieve this error? I've already tried reinstalling the mod and I did it properly and the mod works etc. etc., but the error was not resolved by this.

Few developers play into the 1920´s, since we are fixing stuff in 1914 or even 1897, so that is a possible unkown bug. If you have basic modding experience (or want to gain it), you might try to fix it.

My first idea is that model 9 is being researched (activated by a tech) without being defined. So there are two place to look: the aircraft / secret weapons tree and the division files for the relevant aircraft type.

Of course you could also look in the savefile ...

Looking in the transport_plane.txt, I found that there were three entries for actual transport planes (the others were airships) and they were all duplicates numbered six.

I renumbered them and copy-pasted another for 9, what the error called for, and tried to load my game in question. This time it simply said "--- Save game contains errors ---" but when I clicked ignore, it loaded. I screwed around and everything seemed fine except a few countries had different colours (lol?) and then I tried to save the game again. This time while saving, it locked up.

Not exactly a solution, but it's closer. Perhaps there are other entries I need to makeshift, or graphics associated with the aircraft that are missing.

I also just had a look at this and so the three triplicate planes. A permanent solution would probably be deleting the superfluous planes (does not help you) and fix the problem in the tech tree.

Found it: secret_weapons.txt, tech 9210 enables transport plane model 9

Change that to 6 and restart from before you researched it.

    v. Manstein: if I do not remember to fix it, please put it on your list!

I am putting it here for the moment since the 0.5 thread is not very active:

During an 1897 game with a war over Fashoda between British Empire and France+Russia the "we are bogged down on the Western Front" event fired late in 1897. We should fix that trigger.
