    I've been following this for a long time and not really had any cause to comment, so I thought I'd post to say it's just spiffing. Very detailed and of course plenty of Britishness.

    With India somewhat stabilised you should get to work on bringing those wayward dominions back into the fold. I've always thought it a great shame Rhodes' Imperial Parliament idea never really took off, rather than the fairly artificial nationalism that in fact came to drive the dominions' political development.

    Anyway, roll on more RN updates!

    This highlights my agreement with you.

    Bafflegab - As Voter Colonel you did do a fine job of stuffing the ballot.

    On your philosophical question, there will always be the local man from the Raj there to sort the problem out. He'll record it, they did keep such voluminous records.

    Praetonia - Thanks for that, such comments are always appreciated especially from someone new.

    I would have liked to go with the the Imperial Parliament option but;
    1. It's becoming something of a cliche on this board (I can think of at least two other fine Brit AARs with it).
    2. The mid-1930s really are too late, ideally you'd want a PoD before Rhodes is dead. That said I suppose a depths of depression 1920s start is also something of a goer and you could probably do something with an alternate WW1. But 1936? Very tricky.

    Nathan Madien - Getting a wageslip is indeed a bitter-sweet occasion. Still much healthier than thinking about what my taxes are actually spent on, which tends to make me depressed and angry at the same time.

    True I had forgotten the vital role of voting for the next bunch of incompetent lying charlatans, hoping this time one lot may be competent and not obsessed with spending your money but fearing they wont.

    As a general point it appears the Waziristan resident sneaked through un-noticed, perhaps too stealth a homage?
    Inevitable Defeat - Slovakia '44 - The award winning characters Tiso and Tuka attempt to save Slovakia from defeat and destruction. It probably wont end well. It definitely did win an AARland Choice Comedy Award. Now Back from the Dead and updating.

    Is a man not entitled to the sweat of his brow? No, says the man in Washington. It belongs to the poor. No, says the man in the Vatican. It belongs to God. No, says the man in Moscow. It belongs to everyone. I rejected those answers. Instead, I chose something different. I chose the impossible. I chose... Rapture.

    Basically it is the story of an English soldier taking care of business against the French.

    From your German-Anglophile persective, that would be a very difficult combination to beat...!

    Oh trust me, I read them all. Just not in paper but rather E-Book form.

    Jalex - Have you aspired to a career in politics or are you just a natural?

    Faeelin - So he had high state spending in the roaring 20s then turned to state options in the depression? Classically lefty then; every situation also calls for more spending and a bigger state.

    TheExecuter - Isn't that the motto for Obamacare?

    Faeelin - I had wondered where that quote was from. Having not played Bioshock I couldn't place it, what it did remind me of was the quote from Trainspotting. Well Minerspotting technically;

    Choose life. Choose Mining. Choose a career. Choose no family. Choose a fucking big hole in the ground. Choose high explosives, rock drills, det cord and non-electric initiators. Choose bad health, high risks and no insurance. Choose working in a fucking dodgy West African dictatorship. Choose a rented tin shed. Choose your friends. Choose boiler suits and a matching hard hat. Choose a giant dump truck any colour as long as it's fucking bright yellow. Choose Nonel and wondering what the fuck your doing a mile underground on a Friday night. Choose sitting in that giant dump truck looking at a mind-numbing, spirit crushing spoil heap, stuffing even more fucking crap on top of it. Choose rotting away at the end of it all, breathing your last in a collapsed mine shaft, nothing more than an embarrassment to the brain dead, fucked up, tree-hugging, sustainability spouting retards spawned to replace proper engineers.
    Choose your future.
    Choose mining.

    trekaddict - There is something to be said for a genuine paper copy, particularly for sustained reading.

    Bafflegab - As tk is possibly the world's most British German I'd guess your correct.

    And it appears the Carry on up the Khyber reference definitely passed un-noticed. I knew I should have put the Ruff- in Sidney Diamonds name.
    Inevitable Defeat - Slovakia '44 - The award winning characters Tiso and Tuka attempt to save Slovakia from defeat and destruction. It probably wont end well. It definitely did win an AARland Choice Comedy Award. Now Back from the Dead and updating.

    Damn and Blast!

    ...I saw the "Sydney Diamond" reference and immediately thought "Sydney Ruff-Diamond! ...Surely El Pip isn't referencing a Carry On film here, I must concentrate on beaming FAA and RAF persuasion beams into his head..."

    But, alas, it's too late to claim credit for spotting such a thing after the event has been announced!

    I must admit that when I was studying law, we used engineering as a pejorative. We always thought they were like Tolkien's dwarves - they drank copious amounts of beer, they had no sense of personal hygiene, and there were never any female engineering students. You'll be happy to hear that I grew out out of such vocationist prejudices, well, most of them.

    Anyway, on with part 2 of the schemers. The sooner we are done with India, the sooner we can get to the tanks and trucks.

    Tanks and trucks came third. So if democracy will be respected FAA and BCs will come after India.

    But to be honest both seem interesting so I dont care.

    El Pip could you link updates in index to single post, this way updates sometimes aren`t on linked pages.

    And could you tell us more about people on important positions? Who commands Eastern and Home Fleet, who is Chief of the Imperial General Staff, CinC India (or whatever its called), etc... Maybe we could even get troop and RAF disposition in future updates?

    Looking at earlier updates you said War Office and Air Ministry had their reorganisation delayed until proper rearmament plan is made, so vannila ministers are in positions?

    I hope you dont mind some constructive criticism.
