Cat war, an alternate USA AAR

CAT WAR – Alternate USA AAR

Where women rule the planet, and males are sidekicks at best.
Narrative AAR with gameplay very much in the background.
Using my own CatWar mod for Doomsday with female ministers and leaders and about 500 custom events.

This is a USA 1936 AAR with HOI2 1.3, setting hard, aggressive.
The AAR was started as an HOI 1 AAR, but I have decided to restart it as HOI 2, even if I had to let go of my Mod for HOI 1.
First parts will largely be the same, only the directly ingame related parts will be changed.
    I hope you enjoy.
    Amona

Prologue - A world, both alien and alike

“The authress tells a most ridiculous story about a male empire rising to power in the world by conquering the matriarchalic countries around it. An interesting and new concept, but without any touch to reality. Males fighting and killing ranks together with green Mars-girls landing in New York. At least the novel is well written, but Lady Johnson should stick to fantastic stories about our Amazon-ancestresses, for which she is famous. You should spare your 3,95 $ for a more worthwhile read instead...”
A book review in the New York Times by Lady Ysobel Dahlquist , November 17th, 1935

“So, and what would happen, if all these males leave kitchen and lovenest and start to work in the factories and shops around the country? I dont speak about the social issues and the morale, I leave this to social scientists and the priestresses. No, I speak about the jobs that will be lost for our struggling girls. Will you, my dear, go out to General Motors and declare the hard working chicks there that they will loose their job to a MALE? This country recovers from a recession, as I like to remind you. Millions of males swarming the job market will be disastrous for our economy. And by the way, which boy would like to do that? I tell you, MY husband wont, and my two sons are looking forward to marrying and raising the children my daughters-in-law will proudly deliver. And so it should be, as any american lady of decent education should know and feel alike...”
Congresswoman Lady Eve Sumers of Illinois, in a radio-talkshow on CBS, December 3rd, 1935

    “Mother Earth, the good goddess,
looks with kindness on her children,
as long as we treat her with kindness,
for she who rapes the earth,
    rapes the goddess herself,
and shall not find eaternal peace.”
A plate found in most american classrooms above the door, excerpt from THE BOOK, the oldest writing of womankind, believed to be written by an Amazon-priestress over 4000 years ago.

“While the championship rests during winter, the teams lick their wounds or cheerish their success. In Eastern Division, the Miami Pantheresses again dominated the first part of the season, while in Western D., the Seattle Chicks and the Los Angeles Lionesses showed a tight fight for supremacy. Let us recall the great games of the season so far. There can be no doubt, the National Hockey League shows the best hockey anywhere in the world. Charlotte, let us take a closer look on the new youngster of Miami, the black Valerie Feathers. She has scored 42 goals in 18 games, right? – Yeah, Priss, and she will become a real star soon. I have not seen this precision in passes and this coolness in front of the enemy goaless since Tessa Palmer in the Twenties. – Wait, Charlotte, before we get further into this, I have an information for our listeneresses. Dear ladies, do you know that Homestead refrigerators use much less energy than any other product on the market? Homestead refrigerators...”
Radio show “Queens of Sports” on ABC, December 9th, 1935

“DUCA MUSSOLINI DECLARES WAR ON ETHOPIA
The italian head of state, Duca Greta Mussolini, has declared a state of war between the queendom of Italy and Ethopia, the only country in Africa not in colonial possession, but governed by the black people themselves. The democratic community is shocked by this unprovoked assault. In a radio statement, Presidenta Franka Delana Roosevelt condemmed the aggression in very clear words. Republican leadress Miranda Landon warns the administration not to involve the US in foreign affairs. Quote: The last war has brought us nothing but death and misery, this time our chicks must stay home.
Military analysts believe Ethiopia a ripe fruit before the italian onslaught. Fascist Italy has enlarged and modernised its army and air force in recent years, while ethiopian forces consist largely of tribal warrioresses with handguns at best...”
The International Heraldress Tribune, December 17th, 1935

    “CONCLUSION:
With 3 infantry- and 1 cavalry division, the US Army is totally inadequate to deal with any threat to our security from foreign countries. With Germany, Italy and Japan in fascists hands and pursuing imperialistic goals, a future threat to the US is at least possible, if not likely. Add to this the fascist movements in Brasil and, last but not least, in Mexiko, right at our border, we strongly recommend to strengthen the army to a level which will at least deliver a sceleton to build further strength in case of an emergency. We propose the commission of 9 additional infantry-divisions and 3 specialised mountain-divisions during 1936.”
Excerpt from a memorandum of the chiefs of staff to the Lady President, December 1935.
    The plan was not implemented.

The US government at start of 1936.

The US Army in 1936 consisted only of a handful of divisions. Here the 2nd Indianhead Division under Georgina Marshall.

Not exactly, some things will change, especially the game related issues.
For example, Madrid will probably not fall on sept 18th, 1936,
and I will add more ingame screenies and descriptions of ingame decisions while playing USA.
I thought of the option of asking a moderator to move the thread here, but the game will, even from January 36 to feb. 37 play out differently, so something might change.
I hope you will nonetheless bear with me, even if you already know most of it.
I will post the already known modified parts rather quickly, so it shouldnt take too long.

    I - Beginnings

    I - BEGINNINGS

The Red Dragon, restaurant near Boston University, 4th of January 1936, 13.00 hours

Lady Jill Tessa Ryan felt a little uneasy meeting the directress of the CIA* on short notice, as much because of the old ladys rank as because of the fact that Lady Couzens was a very prominent member of the democratic party, while Jill herself was a wellknown Republican.
At 35, she held a doctorate in history at the University of Boston, lecturing on European history, especially military history. Knowing Europe and foremost Germany very well, she constantly warned her isolationist party members about the fascist german power and Lady Hitlers will to use it. This arkward opinion in a party completely turned to inneramerican problems might have caused Lady Couzens interest.
Would she try to win Jill over for the democratic cause, or was something other afoot? Jill was curious, to say the least.
The old Lady looked still as if in her Twenties, the longevity drug worked well on her. Jill hoped it would equally well work on herself when SHE reached the age of 63. Come on, that was selfish.
They traded the usual pleasentries, ordered wine and dinner, lit their cigarettes and slowly got to business.
“Your reputation as a historianess and teacher has caught my eye, dear Lady Ryan.”
Well, heres the sugar, Jill thought wryly.
“Professionally, we at CIA are looking out for sharp, objective minds of independent position.”
“You – offer me a job?”
“Well, exactly, Lady Ryan, excactly. If its a problem for you to work for a government you are determined to overthrow in the election, please think of the oportunities. We know you are interested in the european developments, especially Germany. We know too, that you had several run-ins with your own folks, even with the great Miranda herself.”
“I am not surprised that you know. I thought that conversation was private. Do you really tell me you have Lady Landons fitness room bugged?”
“Hell, no, what do you think? Even if so, would I tell you that? Serious, people talk, as you should know, and in this room at the time were several other ladies, not to mention the pleasure boys.”
Jill snorted. She disliked the republican chief personally for her sexual taste. Jill herself was conservative to the bones, in other words, loyally engaged in a lesbian marriage for over 12 years.
“Anyway, what do you say? You would work as a private consultant to a special branch we are creating. Intelligence gathering on the fascist states and fascist movements all around the world. We will look on military, economy, society. We want you to put all the tidbits the beancountresses gather together. You would only report to me. Its a full time job, and the pay is not what you get now. You know, the budget...”
Jill lit another Lucky Filter and hid her confusion behind blue smoke.
“Naturally, you will think about it, and talk it through with your wife. How is Beth? Fifth month, as I recall?”
“Uhh, yeah, in a foul moud my better half, to tell the truth...”
    “Her first child?”
“Yeah. She wanted one of her own.”
    “Your ... daughter? ... is now 9?”
“Florence. I sometimes believe she is coming after her begetter, so calm and docile.”
Damn, this old bitch guided her through the conversation like the old politician she was.
“I will have to think about the job. Its a challenge, no doubt, but the political side is a problem. Can I call you back?”
“Sure, our secretaries can handle the details. Here comes the pasta. Ever dinned pasta in Italy proper?”

*In reality CIA didnt exist in 1936. (Just in case anyone feels inclined to tell me that.)

    Directress of CIA Janette Couzens

Historianess at Boston University and republican party member Jill Tessa Ryan

Luftwaffe research and testing facility Rechlin, Germany, 6th of January, 1936, 8.25 hours

Oberst Freifrau Manuela von Richthofen was a bit nervous, to say the least. Smoking one american Marlboro after the other, she awaited the Frau Reichsmarschalls arrival, and her entire staff.
Today she would present the new Ju 87 Stuka dive bomber to the chief of the Luftwaffe. A whole squadron of 12 of the new birds would fly a sharp attack on an assembly of old tanks and trucks out there on the training ground. Though General Udets idea, it was her, von Richthofens unit, and she had trained the pilots herself. Her maidens were the best in the whole Luftwaffe, but she would feel better if she could fly the mission herself, in the first Stuka.
But she had to be here on the ground, to guide and explain everything to Frau Goering and her entourage. The mighty Hella Goering, clearly number two in fascist Germany, well known for her extravagancy and her wild parties, involving sexual actions Manuela hadnt ever dreamed of– or feared – before. Jovial on the outside, Goering could bite deadly as a snake. Ladies getting in her way or disappointing her didnt just loose a fortune, they frequently simply vanished.
Manuela bit her lips and fingered a new cigarette out of the pack.
“Frau Oberst, the Frau Reichsmarshall has arrived.”
    Well, now or never...
One hour later, Manuela was still alive. Outside the old tanks and trucks burned, shattered by the precise attack of the Stuka squadron. Hella Goering laughed and joked, patted Manuela constantly on the small shoulders, and exclaimed enthusiastically:
“The Fuhra has to see this. Thats the weapon we need. We will built thousands of these Stukas, and then, Freifrau Manuela, then...”
    She laughed again.
Thousands of Stukas, not just a squadron. All these planes, they needed commandresses. And they would be used. Fame, and power, in Manuelas reach. She allowed herself a smile, which grew over the coming minutes. The world would get to know the Stukas. And would get to know Manuela von Richthofen...

Oberst Freifrau Manuela von Richthofen, Stuka commandress and very ambitious.

    Ii - First Prey

    II FIRST PREY

US Research at the start of 1936

    “FREE TRADE RULES.
Ministress Cordelia Hull declared today before Congress, that the administration intends to follow its policy of free trade with other nations, as it considers it a vital part of revitalizing the economy and strengthening ties wich other nations...”
The Wall Street Journal, January 2nd, 1936
[ ingame information: all offered trade deals are accepted. ]

    “BUDGET CUTS AFFECT NAVAL PROGRAMME.
It becomes clearer by the day that the current administration is determined to cut defence expenditures, never a primary issue anyway, back to the bones. The current ships built on the yards will mostly not be concluded. Our sources tell us, the current planning leaves the carrier YORKTOWN as the only major ship to be concluded as planned.”
Proceedings, naval magazine, January 2nd 1936
[ ingame information: all builds except USS YORKTOWN and her CAG cancelled. ]

    [ other ingame info:
    No upgrading.
No new builds of any kind.
No moving of diplomacy sliders at start of 36.
In General: The USA will be roleplayed, no optimized gameplay. ]

    “GERMANY REMILITARIZES THE RHINELAND
Troops crossed the Rhine river today, german chancelloress Hitler declared Versailles treaty
“no longer applies to the Reich”. Verbal protests from UQ* and France. Foreign ministress Hull in an interview: “Disturbing, but doesnt change our neutral position.” “
The New York Times, January 6th, 1936

*UQ = United Queendom, Great Britain.

    “Scientist Meike Rijnhuis vanished.
The famous physician Meike Rijnhuis has, together with her female companion and their 11year-old daughter, vanished from their home in Utrecht...”
Article on page 5 of ALLGEMEEN DAGBLADET, a dutch newspaper, January 11th, 1936

The Lubjanka, HQ of NKVD, Moscow, January 25th 1936, 16.50 hours

“I strongly disagree. If we continue this, all gospodas of the sisterhood will end up in Siberia in the end. The purges must come to an end. Someone must make that clear to Gospoda Stalina.”
Gospoda Major General of NKVD Katharina Rudonzeva was really getting agitated. The chairwoman, Natalia Yezova starred at her with impassive eyes. Apart from Rudonzevas speech there was an eerie silence in the room. No one dared to take a sip of their tea or lit a cigarette. Ilona kept her face impassive and eyed the chairwoman.
    Finally Yezova interrupted the Rudonzeva.
“Have you lost your nerves, Gospoda Major General? Or is it something else? Are you, yourself, a traitress after all? We will see... the sooner the better.”
Rudonzeva paled. The chairwoman nodded to the guards at the door.
“Take Gospoda Rudonzeva in custody. Get her ready for interrogation.”
“But – NO! You cant... I mean, its me... you dare not... NO!”
“Gag the traitress. We will not be disturbed by her treacherous words any longer.”
The guards overpowered the struggling Blonde, forced a gag into her mouth. Rudonzevas eyes were wild.
    “Take her away!”
The terrified woman was dragged from the room.
Yezova eyed her staff. No one met her eyes, except Oberst Ilona Shmikova. Yezova nodded to the fairly young gospoda with the angellike face and the dark hair.
“Gospoda Shmikova, you will take over department III. Your first mission is to get a confession from this traitress in our midst.”
“You will have it by midnight, Gospoda chairwoman.”
Yes, thats it, Ilona thought. Department III was hers. The Soviet Union was a dangerous country to live in today, and inside NKVD the waters were even more dangerous, but the opportunities...

Ilona Shmikova, NKVD Colonel, new head of department III of NKVD.

FBI headquarters, New York, buero of directress Hoover, February 19th 1936, 10.08 hours

    “You called for me, Mam?”
“Yes, Beyonce, please take a seat.”
Special Agent Beyonce Tucker, a striking black lady of 32, did so and relaxed. Directress Hoover liked a relaxed atmosphere with her ladies.
“Well, Beyonce, I have something here I want you to look into. Care to get some californian sun? Its a case in Los Angeles.”
    “Wherever I am needed, Mam.”
“Okay, its an abduction, or we think so.”
    Beyonce raised an eyebrow.
    “You think so, Mam?”
“Uh, theres no ransom, no contact, and its over a week now...”
    “White slavery?”
Beyonce referred to the practice of abducting beautiful women for dark purposes with destination Arabia or South America, a crime FBI worked since ages to defeat, with some success.
“Dont think so, Beyonce. The victim was not the sort of lady. Shy, thick glasses, not looking after her appearence. In LA there are thousands of chicks better suited for a harem.”
“Just gone elsewhere, starting a new life?”
“The lady was a scientist, working for the government, some science fiction stuff, electronics and such.”
“Ups. Now I see. I take it no evidence, no witnesses?”
“Right. The chicks over there in LA have no clues, and I thought you might get something out of this.”
“Very well, Mam, already on the way.”
“Here are the facts and the ticket for an airship to LA. You have one hour.”
Beyonce rose to her feet and took the small bag.
Lady Hoover called her back as she reached the door.
“Beyonce – this is important. This stuff the girl worked on – top secret.”
“I will do my best, Mam.”
    Hoover just nodded.

Special Agent Beyonce Tucker of FBI is assigned to a new case.

    “GERMAN TROOPS MARCH INTO AUSTRIA,
Germans call it ANSCHLUSS, austrian state ceases to exist. No resistance, cheering crowds welcome the grey columns. Chairwoman of Republican party, Miranda Landon declares: Not our business.”
The International Heraldress Tribune, March 1st, 1936

Diary of Generaloberst Luise Beck, Chief of OKW, the german high command
    March 11th, 36
The Austria operation was nothing but a disaster. Troops going wrong ways, Panzers broken down after a few kilometers, chaos at staff. Politically it was all perfectly arranged, but our performance was dreadful. So, the new command, called Oberkommando der Wehrmacht was established to better things. I am still surprised the Fuhra wanted me in charge. The looks of Lady Goering... I am sure she counted on herself to be appointed. Now she is theoretically my subordinate. I have to be careful, this lady is a shark if I ever saw one.
Much work to do. We are strengthening the Heer at a astonishing pace. 60 new infantry divisions scheduled for this year alone. Much to fast, if I were asked, but its the will of the Fuhra. Many new appointments to make. I am really busy these days. My wife back home complains a lot. That cant be helped. I will arrange for a pleasure boy for her. I nice gift of that sort has done the trick all the time.

CIA headquarters, Langley, Virginia, March 14th 1936, 9.36 hours

Jill settled into her chair and placed her coffee mug on a free place between the myriads of papers on her desk.
“So, Marcy, what do we have here?”
“Well Jill, there is the new report on the austrian industry now incorporated into the german economy, and here something on the austrian army. Quite a boost for their strength, this Anschluss.”
“Yeah. I estimate around 10 to 15 % strengthening of their industrial output, and about 10 new divisions for their army.”
“I am surprised the people of Austria responded so well to the invasion. As if it was no invasion at all.”
“They liked what Hitler did in Germany, and they wanted to be part of it. The Austrians are Germans after all, in a sense. More like Bavarians or Silesians than a whole new people. What disturbs me more is the weak reaction of the Allies. And our own government, not to forget.”
“Well, on foreign policy Lady Roosevelt and Lady Landon dont differ much, it seems.”
“Thats a mistake, Marcy, I tell you. The fascists must be stopped, the sooner the better. I was over there, in Germany, and I didnt like what they did to that lovely country. Wouldnt like even less if the do it to other countries too.”
“Yeah. Oh, here I have a memo on the head of this new staff, OKW. One Luise Beck, look, a nice blonde. A real german Super Woman out of a wonderwoman-comic.”
“Dont think all Germans are blonde and blue-eyed, Marcy. They tell you this stuff about super woman and mistress race and all, but look at Hitler, she is small, darkhaired and really not germanic looking.”
“You are right, Jill. Okay, this Beck chick served in the Great war, even at the front. Iron cross and so on. The Reichswehr, commanding of the 5th division in 32, II.Armeekorps in 35. And now, chief of OKW. Married to a lady, two daughters, one son. One daughter is luitenant in the Wehrmacht, tank troops.”
“Her connection to the Nazi party?”
“None known. Its a surprise she heads this new OKW. We expected Goering or this Reichenau bitch.”
“Beck has no lobby with the fascists. Her power and position derives from Hitlers decision. Divide et impera. This Hitler lady may be a mad warmongeress, but she is a gifted politician.”
    “Too bad.”
    “Aint that the truth...”

Generaloberst Luise Beck, head of the OKW, newly established German high command.

Sir, from a RL point of view you are certainly right.
But please take into account two things:
    1. Coming up with fiction in which women rule the planet on the one hand, and history and surnames of politicians and generals are exactly like on real earth on the other, is a far stretch.
Its seems far easier to imagine on this alternate earth a cure for lungcancer and the like to be available. The more so, as you might have noticed that here a longevity drug exists which keep women young and beautiful wide into their 70s.

    2. In RL, in the Thirties and Forties most adult males in western europe and the USA smoked, so its only fitting in this reversed setting that most adult females smoke here too.

Just my thoughts on the matter.
Be it as it may, I hope you enjoy nonetheless.

GrimReaper, Ghostwriter: Welcome to the AAR.

Pureone: You infidel! I will send the gals of WAMD to teach you some decency. In case you dont know, the WAMD are the WOMEN AGAINST MALE DRIVERS, a very active group, strong in the southron states of the US. Its was surely a mistake to allow males to drive back in 1913. III - Handle With Care

    III HANDLE WITH CARE

    “SfMR DEMONSTRATES IN WASHINGTON D.C.
The Society for Males Rights, SfMR, gathered in Washington D.C. today for a great demonstration, marching along Constitution Avenue. More than 800.000 males and even many ladies took part and demanded equality of rights for males. The SfMR is very active these days, and the issue is discussed throughout the country. The USA has, together with the Netherlands, the most liberal male rights in the world, and many conservative ladies say thats more than enough.”
    Washington Post, April 17th 1936

Apartment of Ladies Bethany and Joan Richmond, Denver, Colorado, 22nd of April 1936,
    17.25 hours

Special Agent Tucker eyed the bedroom closely. The beds were disarranged. Here, some water on the carpet. But the glass, still with some water in it, on its place. A fight? No other evidence visible.
Lady Bethany Richmond, a scientist working on plastics at Denver university, had vanished two days ago, together with her female companion. It was the fourth case of a scientist vanishing, probably abducted, since February. All over the states, family members, if living in the house, vanishing too.
Here even the dog, a german sheepdog, was gone.
Why the dog? That was really strange.
Never a ransom, never witnesses, no fingerprints, no broken doors or windows, no signs of a fight.
Special Agent Anne Simmons entered the room. The Blonde looked angry.
“Nothing, Beyonce, not the shlightest clue. Could be a serial killeress.”
    Beyonce shook her head.
“I doubt that. A killeress, travelling through the States from LA to New Orleans to Norfolk and than to Denver, killing of scientists and their loved ones? Thats to far off. The scientist thing hints at a foreign agency.”
“Kidnapping brains for their own research? Who would do that? Are the Japs that mad?”
“Or the Germans or the commies, what do I know? Thats not my field. Anyway, counterintelligence is our job too. We need to know what the ladies were working on.”
“This Bethany worked on plastics to be used by the industry. Could better industrial performance. Something like that.”
“Lets go to the university and have a closer look.”
    “I will get the car.”
Beyonce nodded and left the room too, going to the kitchen. There was the dogs place. The garbagecan, Beyonce looked into it. Uh, theres a handkerchief or something. Blood on it. Much blood. Nothing on the ground.
    “The car is ready.”
    Beyonce pocketed the handkerchief.

Airship ROBERTA MOZART, Departuretower XI, New York Aerodrome, April 22nd 1936, 17.48 hours

The clerk eyed the german businesswoman longingly. What a lady. Beautiful was an understatement. And so cool. Great, working on the Aerodrome seeing all these beautiful foreign ladies.
The small brunette approached the blonde, who was at least a head taller.
“Lady Schmidt, everything is arranged, the girls start loading your crates immediately.”
    “I see, thank you, Miss.”
Polite, this beauty. And they say these german superfrauleins are all so arrogant bitches. What nonsense. She smiled at the tall beauty. What beatiful long hair, and these eyes... she sighed.
The blonde watched closely as the workeresses started to load the crates into the freight elevator of the tower.
The ROBERTA MOZART, a modern german airship destined for Berlin, filled the sky above tower XI.
The striking blonde nestled at her jacket. She was injured at the forearm, white gaze was visible.
    “Everything okay, Lady Schmidt?”
“Yes, thank you, Miss. An ungrateful dog...”
The blonde gestured with the other hand to the bandage.
HANDLE WITH CARE was printed on the large crates. You could see from the behavior of the working women that they were heavy. Machine part samples for some firm in Germany, the papers said.
Reminding herself of her other duties, the young clerk sighed again, gave the long legs in the high boots of Lady Schmidt a last look, and went about her work.
The german lady ignored her, concentrating on the crates. After they were loaded successfully, and elevated into the airship, she allowed herself a cigarette.
The 2.000 $ per month to the chief of the customs department of New York Aerodrome paid of well indeed. A good investion for the Reich.
Major Ophelia Skorzeny of German Sondereinsatztruppen (Special Mission Forces) smiled wryly and enjoyed her smoke.

“Hello, Marcy. You should try the filet with french fries in the cafeteria today.”
“Oh no, Jill, I am on a diet.”
    “Again? Come on, be serious...”
“Arhh... anyway, here is a new report about weird masts of steel on the German coast around their naval bases. Wilhelmshafen, Kiel, Bremen. Look, an agent has made pictures.”
“Hmm... looks like radio masts. But so many... What does our scientific department say?”
“They are not sure. One chick says it could have to do something with our gals are working on in California.”
    “So?”
“Yeah, something about detecting far away planes from the ground. They were said to be making good progress, but then, her mistressmind, a scientist out of LA, vanished in February. The FBI says she was probably abducted, but they have no clues.”
“Good goddess on a bicycle, what a coincidence.”
    “I thought that too.”
“Do we have a line to FBI?”
    “Sure.”
“Can I use it? Or will I have to go to the chief first?”
“Uh, Jill, I think its better you talk with the old dragon first.”
“Great, I am already on the way.”
“Wait, Couzens is in Washington D.C., briefing the Lady President on the Italian-Ethiopian war. The Italians are advancing on Addis-Abbeba, the capital.”
“Yeah, another problem. Wont take long before the country falls. Whos next? Anyway, when will Couzens be back?”
“Tomorrow, if I recall it right.”
“Well, it will have to wait until then. This agent, can she get more information apart from the pictures?”

An office of Hortensa Hughes, Las Vegas, Nevada, May 5th 1936, 15.10 hours

“Oh, hello Squire* Eaton, very nice to meet you guy.”
“I am glad you have time for me, Mam.”
The handsome young man bowed before the famous aviatrix. Hortensa Hughes took his right and vigorously shook it.
“For the most famous male aviator in the world? Are you kidding? Why havent we met sooner, we are colleagues, of sorts.”
Eaton WAS famous, but more as a curiosity than anything else, while Hughes was known worldwide, getting flying record after record and producing airplanes and airships herself.
“Sit down please. A drink? Its said I am making a fairly good Martini...”
“Uh, if I could have some water?”
    Hughes grinned jovially.
“Sure, Bill. I will call you Bill, okay? I am Hortensa.”
    “Okay Mam, ah, Hortensa.”
“So, what can I do for you?”
“Ma... Hortensa. I am planning a flight. A record, sort of. But no one wants to give me the plane I need for the mission.”
    “What flight, son?”
“Errrh... around the world. From Miami to Miami.”
“Ufff... you caught me by surprise. Thats a hell of a flight.”
“Yeah, no male has ever undertaken something like that. I know, you did it twice already, but...”
    He eyed the lady apprehensively.
Hortensa starred at him for a long time. Suddenly, she grinned.
“I like it. Yeah, I reall, really like it. I am in. Lets speak about the aircraft you need...”
“You... you will give me a plane? Really?”
    “Godessdammit, sure, boy, sure...”
Bill Eaton allowed himself to grin too now...

*Squire = no equivalent on patriarchalic earths, roughly comparable to the female “Miss”, “Mademoiselle”, “Fraulein”, to address males in a diminuitive way.

Not so famous male aviator Bill Eaton.

Office of chief of staff Mary-Lou Craig, Washington D.C., May 9th 1936, 8.40 hours

“Well, Georgina, Ive read your memo. Interesting thoughts. Really interesting. But you know, the budget. Apart from that, do you really believe these tanks are good for anything? The French use them only in a support role.”
“There is Charline de Gaulle, thinking otherwise. And the Germans and the Commie gals produce them in the hundreds and thousands.”
“Yeah, Georgie, I know. At some time they will shoot each other to shreds on the polish plains, alright. Why bother? Do you see blonde german superfrauleins with supertanks advancing over our Great plains, sometimes in the next 500 years?
Come on, girl. Thats nonsense. So, even if we had the budget, which we surely have not, I wouldnt transform 1st Cav into an “armoured” division as you call it.”
    “If you say so, Mam.”
“Yes, Georgina, I say so. Your look is bordering subordination, Major General. I warn you. You have a manouvre to plan. You got 1000 new horses last month. Put them to good use.
    Dismissed.”
The blonde Major General left the office.
Outside the building, she crossed the street to a bar.
Georgina Sondra Patton needed a drink, and badly so.

Outside Court Central, stadion Rowenna Garros, French Tennis Open, Paris, May 23rd 1936, 17.02 hours

“Miss Lenglen? Miss Lenglen! Wilma Viper, ABC. An interview for “Queens of Sports”! Just a few words!”
Josefine Lenglen turned, smiled politely. The reportress was a redhead with too much lipstick and a too short skirt, revealing elephantlegs pressed into tight orange boots. Orange, by the goddess of style. She tortured a seemingly innocent chewing gum between her slightly yellow teeth.
ABC, an American. Who else would wear orange boots?
“Miss Lenglen, you have just a few minutes ago lost your 1st round game against an american newcomeress. And that here in Paris, on your own turf as one might say. Are you ashamed?”
Josefine still smiled into the face of the cow and answered with all noblesse she could muster:
“Oh, no, I just had a bad day. That happens in sports. And Mademoiselle Wainright was very good today. She has a great career in front of her.”
Meanwhile she imagined reshaping the reportress face with her racket.
“Oh, really fair of you. Nearly like an englishwoman, eeeh?”
“May I ask you something too?”
    “Ah, sure, Miss Lenglen, haha...”
“Were did you get these boots? They are nice.”
    “Really? Woolworth. 21.95 bucks.”
    “I thought so.”

Mademoiselle Josefine Lenglen, french tennis crack, dislikes Americans and fashion crimes.

Iv - All The Queens Men

    IV ALL THE QUEENS MEN

Austria annexed by Germany, an early ANSCHLUSS in March 36.

“ENGLISH QUEEN CONFESSES: I LOVE A MALE!
English queen Mary anounced today that she is not only engaged with a male, an American named Peter Falkland, but is also determined to marry him. Such would not be illegal in England, were heterosexual marriage is quite legal, but unheard of for a british queen. It is tradition over there that the sovereigness marries only another woman, as it is seen as the natural form of relationship. Marys anouncement has raised a storm of outrage in the british public...”
The Boston Globe, June 17th, 1936

    “ITALY ANNEXES ETHIOPIA.
After concquering the city of Addis Abbeba a few days ago, the Queendom of Italy has incorporated the former country of Ethiopia into its empire. The practise of militarily driven expansion is clearly on vogue these days, and a cause for alarm. Next, the Mexikans may want Texas back, can you imagine...”
Winona Blockbottom in her comedy show “Whats up?” on CBS radio, June 19th 1936

CIA headquarters building, Langley, Virginia, June 20th 1936, 10.15 hours

“Okay, Lady Tucker, what can you tell us about this disappearances?”
“Well, Lady Ryan, we have up to date seven cases. All scientists, all working on important projects for government or industry. Every project can be called defence-related in one sense or the other.
The ladies in question vanished from their home, probably at night. No real evidence of a crime, no witnesses of something unusual.
Familymembers, even dogs, cats or, for the goddess sake, a canary bird, vanished too from the homes.
Well, and thats pretty much all.”
Jill nodded. This was a professional operation of someone very determined and with all resources one could wish. Specialists of a nationstate. That was her opinion.
“We have reason to believe that the Germans are behind these, lets name it, kidnappings.
They have made progress exactly in the fields our gals worked in before vanishing.”
    Beyonce snorted slightly.
“You really think the superfrauleins are kidnapping US citizens over here? Okay, thought that myself already, but... thats crazy. Like in a comic or Jane Bonda movie...”
    “Do you know Sheila Holmes?”
“This english detective stories? Sure, but...”
“If you eliminate everything else, the only thing remaining must be the truth.”
“Ah, thats fiction, Lady Ryan, sorry...”
“Okay, than you tell me what happens with our scientists!”
“I honestly dont know. We discussed a serial killeress briefly, but we have no corpses appearing, and the total lack of evidence...”
    “So...”
“Okay, okay. If you are right, what to do? There is no evidence, so I guess the politicians over in Washington cant do sh*t about it.”
    “Correct.”
“My only idea is a defensive approach. But look, Lady Ryan, we simply lack the assets to guard all possible victims in the US.”
“Whats your normal procedure in such a serial crime?”
“Easy enough. We wait for the villainess to make a mistake. So far there was none.”
“Not very promising. I hate it to wait.”
“Lady Ryan, I wholeheartedly agree to that.”
Both ladies smiled against their will.
It was easier in the comics, Jill thought...

A bar near Wimbledon, outside London, June 20th 1936, 20.18 hours

“Hey, its Maddy White! Hi, Maddy, away from german hockey for a change?”
Oh, no, it was Wilma Viper, the rhinozeros from ABC. Madeline gulped down her drink and ordered another one. The male bartender was quick, and cute to boot.
    “Hi Wilma. New boots?”
“Uh, yes, surprised you notice. What do you say about the final?”
“Well, the empire gals are happy. They should be, one of their lot defeating an American. I already see their headlines: Empire strikes back. Colonies shown their place.”
Wilma looked puzzled. Okay, she didnt get the joke. Hardly a surprise.
    The readhead changed the subject:
“Will you go back to Germany? Their final is approaching, I take it?”
“Yep, Schalke 05 against Walkuera Berlin. You know, Schalke is something like our Miami Panthresses.”
    “Uh-hu. How are they?”
    “How are who?”
“Come on Maddy... the superfrauleins. Cool and arrogant and all in uniforms...”
Madeline hated it to be called Maddy. Her older sister called her that.
“Wilma, you were over there yourself. Whats the point?”
“But you live there most of the time, you must know them really well.”
Sure, I know them better than I care to, Madeline thought.
“Uh, squire? Hey, boy, I want a drink too.”
    “Sure, Mylady.”
“A Sergeant Pepper, with ice and an umbrella. An ORANGE umbrella, you sweet thing.”
Madeline admired the London boy for his totally impassive face.
    “Immediately, Mylady.”
“Wow! Maddy, I will be over there too soon. The Olympic Games, you know. Doing the interviews for “Queens of Sports”.”
    “Good for you.”
Madeline finished her drink quicker than planned and rose, putting 5 pounds under the empty glass.
The bartender was quick to collect it. His eyes widened, and he lost his impassiveness and broke out into a “Thank you, Mylady!”
“I like professionals, no matter the profession. Wilma, I am on my way. We surely meet again in Berlin in September.”
“Yeah, greatings to the superfrauleins, Maddy. Bye!”
Outside, Madeline wished for an umbrella. The afternoon had been sunny, for the finals sake, but know it was raining again. That was England for you.
Well, her airship to Berlin flew in 3 hours. She had an appointment with Schalke 05, and a second one with one of her sources.
Madeline White was a professional too, in both her professions, be it sports journalism, or espionage. It was only that USA TODAY paid far better than CIA...

Madeline White, well known sports reportress for USA TODAY, not so well known intelligence officer of CIA.

“CIVIL WAR IN SPAIN; GERMANS AND COMMIES SEND HELP,
The fighting in european Spain continued in the last week, after Italy now Germany and the Soviet Union too intervene in the conflict. Germany anounced to send 5000 soldiers and war materials to General Francisca Francas nationalist forces, while soviet “advisoresses” join the republican cause...”
The International Heraldress Tribune, July 26th 1936

Office of Generalinspekteura der Luftwaffe, Generaloberst Edna Milch, July 27th, 1939, 9.45 hours

Major General Manuela von Richthofen saluted crisply.
“At ease, von Richthofen, at ease.”
Milch, the woman behind Goering, the one doing the real work, former chief of Lufthansa back in the Twenties, and in this function a former employer of Manuela, who learned flying in the commercial Lufthansa like most higher officers of Luftwaffe, smiled amiably at the blonde Freifrau.
“Right to the point, we will send you to Spain. You are to command the Luftwaffe part of LEGION CONDOR. Your assets will be a Stuka Geschwader, a tactical bomber Geschwader, three recon squadrons and 2 fighter squadrons. As the size of the force calls for it, you will be promoted to Luitenant General.
This is quite early, as the Lady Reichsmarshall promoted you to Generals rank back in February. And you are very young for this rank. But as the Fuhra says, anyone as her talents deserve.
So you should not disappoint us. Any questions?”
    “My staff?”
“You may take whomever you want to have.”
“Jeschonnek as my chief of staff.”
“I will miss her here, but okay, approved. Work out the details with the staff downstairs. You leave tomorrow. Downstairs you will meet a liason officer, a cute spanish fraulein named Conchita. Fanciful name, what do you say?”
    Manuela didnt even blink.
    “Well, dismissed, Freifrau.”
Manuela saluted again and turned. Milch spoke again, this time to her back:
“You should wear this long hair of yours open. You would be a real knockout.”
Von Richthofen blinked now, and hard. She turned again.
“Thank you, Frau Generaloberst, I will certainly try it.”
    “Good, very good.”
The blonde Luftwaffe general left the office and turned to the stairs, shaking her head. She would look soft and vulnerable with open hair. What a silly idea...

Generaloberst Edna Milch of German Luftwaffe, workhorse and fan of cute blonde ladies.

“This is CBS Sports, reporting directly from Denver Colorado, were todays final took place.
We have all lived through a very good final, which saw the Miami Panthresses triumphant 7 to 3 over the Seattle Chicks. No doubt about it, the US hosts the best field hockey league in the whole world.
Star of the game was 19year old strikress Valerie Feathers, a longlegged black gal from Miami suburbs, raised in the youth of the Panthresses. 4 goals and 2 assists, thats what I call a match winneress. CBS presented this event to you with support from Budweiser Beer, in association with Glossy Lipcare and Chevrolet...”
Report on CBS radio, July 25th, 1936

Field hockey was number one sport on matriarchalic earth. In the 19th century the sport started its victory run from England throughout the entire world. In 1936, in nearly all countries there existed numerous clubs, leagues and a national championship. There were World championships every 4 years since 1922.
The National Hockey League of USA was the place to go if a chick wanted to make real money with her talents.
Strongest hockey nations of the time were the USA, England, Germany and Italy, but the south american teams were on the rise.
