Thread: Golden Horde - Scourge From The East

  1. #2001
Chief Ragusa - All very valid and true points there.

Saulta - But the normal Horde way is to apply cavalry to the skulls of enemies not build forts, this is causing concern amongst some. Thanks.

Tomczas - Thanks, I too will be sad to leave this game when it reaches there, surprisingly enough all these revolts are actually fun.

    stnylan - A good point.

Iche_Bins - Few revolts? Have a look at the next update and say that

Walter Model - Could be right.

    J. Passepartout - When is she ever up to good?

Chief Ragusa - That certainly would be censored if such a thing got out it could be hell to pay.

Grundius - Not against the Horde? Murtada actually might be the thing holding it together here.

billy bob - A scary thought.

Storey - Louise may just be the root of all evil. Sounds like she is uzbek doesn' it?

Amric - Perhaps he will pay for not investing the money in armies instead.

Grundius - Always a welcome move.

coz1 - Thanks, a yip it sure would be. I'll try my best to avoid such a thing occurring.

SirruShan - Quite a good pun actually.

    Murtada : Part 14
Malwa really should have been little concern for Murtada. They shared no common border and if prior experiences were to go by they would be utterly hopeless at anything resembling an invasion. But for a stressed out Khan whose inbox was already overflowing with revolts it came very close to pushing him over the edge.

In a period of exhaustion Murtada made a dire mistake. The governor of Ak-Mechet, a town upon the Black Sea had sent a request to the Khan asking for a small loan to fix up the towns numerous potholes. Weary from work Murtada instead of approving the request accidentally ordered the beheading of the entire town.

The incorrect order was carried out swiftly. It should have ended there and Murtada could have looked back on the matter as "one of those days" and have a good old laugh. But unfortunately several notable Austrian merchants were present in the town on their journey home from Astrakhan. It was all the provocation needed as Austria declared war upon the Golden Horde.

One of the potholes - the cause of the whole mess

On the bright side the bodies did provide ample material to fill all the towns potholes.

A lack of records from the time has prevented us knowing exactly what Murtada's response to this was. However the trail of bodies leading from his throne room to bedchamber where he locked himself for several days has led some historians to tentatively conclude it was not positive.

One Tatar artists take on Murtada's rampage

A picture of rebels just in case you've forgotten what they look like. I certainly have not

What a way to go. War with a powerful foe and revolts that threaten the Horde. If the sucession is not clear, Generals will hold the customary "election".

  4. #2004
Technically at war with two foreign powers, although Malwa seems to be less threatening.

Here's an even better question...who is going to pick up the reins of power and lead the horde in its time of need? Malwa may not be as dangerous as Austria, but it cannot be ignored. It had the capability of going wild if the horde concentrates totally on Austria...This looks relatively dire. Unless something is done, the empire could break apart. Let us hope that the new Khan will quickly get things together!

The next move is for the Horde to being taken over by Original Tartars (R) from the homeland who bring back Paganism! Bwahahahah! Then sort the whole mess later without thinking of what is proper or nice. The Austrians will succumb as many of the Horde's enemies before them. Perhaps the Horde will split into four or five realms, but at the end, there will be one Khan. One Pagan Khan! Bwahaha!

Good to see Murtada passed the baton - or whip - of leadership on in Traditional GH style.

Time for the tartars to really let off steam!

    "Kill them all!"

A quote taken from an interview in 1727. The rebel leader said this just before he massacred the opposing Horde armies. He was the supposed killer of the Khan. However, all experts that have suggested this have been found, headless, in their beds the day afterwards.
If the universe is of infinite size, it must have infinite space. In this infinite space, an infinite number of different things must be able to happen. If an infinite number of different things can happen, there must be everytinhg happening somewhere. Including stuff you only dream about. So, technically, dreams do come true. If you can be bothered to go halfway across the universe.

Chief Ragusa - Unfortunately in this case succession is clear, and its Chigakka II

    J. Passepartout - Its the internal strife thats the worst.

Amric - Hope in vain I'm afraid.

    Languish - It is.

Grundius - Yikes, paganism returning. Hopefully not.

stnylan - Let it off by the traditional method, rebellion?

billy bob - But he was a good khan one of the best actually. Why did you want that?

Rocketman - Maybe but it helps keep it interesting.

SirruShan - Sounds like a very convincing piece of history

coz1 - After the rebels, they really are very pressing.

Rotten Venetic - Somewhat, other than keeping BB under control there isn't much challenge really, so rebels are the answer to that .

    Chigakka II : Part 1
The Horde was in a time of great need. Foreign enemies pressing on it and internal divisions tearing it apart. Murtada had been an excellent Khan and were it not for the unfortunate rebellions towards the end he may well have been considered an equal of Ulugh the Great himself. But as it was the empire needed a strong Khan, one with a force of personality and the strength to pull together all the different factions. To unite them once more against the world and carry the Horde onwards to glory.

Instead the Horde got Chigakka II. A Khan who was lazy, dull, indulgent and entirely lacking in charisma.

Not a pretty sight for anyone to behold

    A representation of Chigakka's personality

Even before the army could get far into the task of clearing up the revolts sparked by Murtada's death they found themselves dealing with a new set brought on by news on by the new Khan's arival.

    This is so familiar

The latest revolts resulted in the large Aral Army being completely encircled. The few messengers that managed to slip through the rebels spoke of the poor state of the army and need for reinforcements to bring supplies and men. Chigakka refused such an expense outright and ordered the army to march on Samarkand and liberate it. He was quoted as saying,
Quote Originally Posted by Chigakka II

    The Aral Army is encircled

It was a move that caused a great divide between him and the army. One that only deepened when the Aral Army, tired and dilapidated was annihilated in the Battle for Samarkand. Chigakka dismissed the loss as nothing more than natural selection. This concept would later be picked up by the biologist Charles Darwin in the 19th century who acknowledged Chigakka II as his inspiration. It would go down to be the only legacy of Chigakka II worth remembering.

    Chigakka II's other legacy

A new unwelcome nation in the neighbourhorde

The lands of the Blue Horde, rightfully Golden Horde

    Another one

  17. #2017
That ruler of the new Old Blue Horde would make a far better ruler of the Horde than the man who is clearly the result of serious inbreeding. Letting an army be slaughtered is grounds for natural selection alright and the typical Horde death from natural causes.

If wars against Austria and Malwa were not enough, this Khan has to lose control of his Persian lands. What's next, Uzbek independence?

Now that was unexpected! As Chief Ragusa brought up, I wonder if the uzbeks had anything to do with this...
