What an unexpected pleasure! Thanks for the kind words everyone, and thanks for the nod NACBEAST.
I'm surprised as hell! I read a lot of the EU3/Magna Mundi AARs (and a few V2 and HOI3 ones, too), but always considered myself something of a commenting slacker. Now I'm going to have to work hard to keep up appearances.![]()

Thanks, first of all, to NACBEAST for the honour.
Much earlier in this thread, one of the moderators was quoted as saying "Comments are the currency of this forum." It's an accurate assessment; how many of us would still feel like writing week after week if we did not receive any encouragement, plaudits or corrections from our readers?
Thinking about my own AAR, I'm blessed with many regular readers who offer encouragement, advice and (occasionally) correction. There's one person, though, whose useful tips, trenchant observations, and pithy remarks are a personal highlight. His suggestions help me keep the story plausible and the gameplay practical. He's a keen observer, analyst and counselor to many players, and a terrific writer in his own right (with several well-regarded AARs to his credit).
It is my pleasure to introduce to you my nominee for the Fan of the Week; the Camerlengo of Cool; the Papabile of Plausibility...

DILECTI AMICI
TO WRITAARS
MODERATAARS AND LAY READAARS
All of you live every day among those dear to you. But this circle gradually expands. An ever increasing number of people, partly via this forum, come to share in your life, and you yourselves discern the outlines of a communion that unites you with them. This is almost always a community that in some way is made up of different elements. It is differentiated in terms of religion, attitudes, outlooks. Yet this ever supporting community is there to applaud and give credit to your efforts. As it is here.
For all this, I feel the need to write to you, dearly beloved, to share this song of praise with you. From the beginning of my humble service, my thoughts had been on enouraging and inspiring other writaars. And I feel greatly honoured to see my actions recognised and appreciated. I thought of issuing this letter as a means of sharing this celebratory mood with you and an opportunity to express my thanks to my distinguished colleague Chris Taylor, by whose kind words I feel so honoured, and whose work has always been invaluable inspiration for us all.
I impart to all of you my heartfelt Blessing.

As acceptance speeches go, this one is unusually flowery in its prose. Nicely done (and clearly a hint that I ought to check out your AAR works).![]()
