Just curious, but if Russia retakes its former areas by force, will it gain the cores on them?

There are events for cores, which should fire before any wars are undertaken. depending on who you play as gives you different core options, whilst cores on Ukraine and Belarus generally fire because of external chains.

Dunno if I should post this here or make a thread, but I'll just go ahead and post it here... If you guys think I should make a thread tell me and I will do and delete this post.

Soo, I've been playing as UoB (1.2) and helped my good friends CoF in liberating the world from capitalism, but the situation in Europe looks a little strange:

I'm not really sure if it's worth it to release Bohemia/Moravia, Slovenia and Serbia/Albania so maybe I should just split them up with their neighbours? Suggestions?

I think I'll release the Baltic Confederation but what about Byelorussia and Ukraine? I'm going to attack the cossacks ASAP as they hold lotsa Georgian cores, but what about the rest? Maybe I should let Georgia take that too?

And the middle east I have no idea what to do... Ideas?

I'm not sure about Scandinavia either, I want Greenland so I'm going to attack Denmark, but I think I'll give the actual Denmark to my North German puppet. But what about Sweden? And Norway? I have military access through them via the socialist event, but they absolutley hate France, so now way of getting them into the Internationale...

And is there any events if I'd attack the Netherlands? North German Federation has some cores on them and I want them out of Europe, but ack, the Asian VPs...

Which Russian path gives the most cores? I'm curious for obvious reasons. :)

... ? ;_;

Hm, maybe I should give Slovenia to Austria to make their borders look better, but on the other hand I'm stronlgy considering giving Trento and Venice to Sicilies, I mean, they have been on the Internationale such a long time and stuff whilst Austria is just a puppet...

EDIT: Seems like the Russiand and Cossacks are allied, I don't feel like attacking them yet, especially not as Alash Orda has the same color as France... >_>

Also, the Egyptians have invaded Libya and is now absorbing Mittelafrika and becoming the real great power in Africa. Do you think it is gamey or realistic to coup them and make them join the Internationale in exhange for their pretty many arab cores?

EDIT2: Also, the Princely Federation AI has collapsed totally (they actually had a collapse - (GAME OVER) event) and they're getting the Seizing thingy over and over again even though they got Ceylon once via it...

What about the non-Soviet options?
Also, maybe it's just me, but Russia doesn't seem to have many techteams, especially for a major. Perhaps it could gain some of the teams from core conquests?

If it doesn't go Soviet I'm not aware of any major tech team changes aside from one that may get added depending on what path you pick for the military restructuring event. I haven't taken a look through changes to this but I don't think it's different.

The Soviets have similar tech teams to what they had in vanilla. I've not had an issue with them and if you want uber cores the Soviets give the most. One of their options gives you cores on: Transamur, Georgia, Azerbaijan, the Don-Kuban Union, Armenia, Alash-Orda, Turkestan, Ukraine, White Ruthenia/Belarus, the Baltics, Finland, Poland, Mongolia, and Manchuria. The second option gives you the same thing, minus Manchuria, Mongolia, Baltics, Finland, and Caucasus regions.

For Russia itself, they do get cores on some regions when they conquer them. I know when they defeat Alash-Orda they can get cores on the northern chunks, reintegration of the Transamur Republic, most of Ukraine, and chunks from Mongolia (Trans-Siberian Railroad). I believe there's also an event for Russia where they make an agreement with Japan over China and in return gain cores

That Japanese agreement event is what happens when the Japanese respond to a Russian seizure of Transamur with the offer of a military alliance aimed against China. You get cores on all of Xibei San Ma, Mongolia and Tuva.

I've never understood why on earth Russia should get cores on Mongolia and Xibei San Ma when she won't get any fron Belarus, Ukraine and Baltics. I mean, 0 Russians lived in Xibei San Ma, while eastern Ukraine is and was Russian populated. I loved this mod, but seeing that people prefer useless Somalian pirates events and country as Perù-Bolivian Confederation to more needed ones (like Russian intervention in WW2 if Germany is losing, or fixing tons of not-working events), I believe I will have to stuck to 1.1...

Russia gets cores on Belarus and Ukraine. Hell, I remember in one run, after Ukraine went Syndicalist and broke her alliance with Mitteleuropa, Russia got an event a little while later giving her cores on all of Ukraine, including Ukrainian Slovakia and Galicia. And if Belarus goes through with Sigismund's plot and the Germans decide that punishment is in order, Germany can partition it between Lithuania and Russia, giving Russia cores on Minsk and other parts of the east of the country.
