@ Servant, the link you've posted doesn't link to a solution.

@ Keioel, I will look into it, but it isn't on top of my to-do list as the current system works.

@ Jedrek, feel free to toy around with the techtree.

@ Awesomefooty, Australasia has one major chain starting in 1937/1938 or so. It revolves around the murder of governor Bruce and the possible political fallout afterwards. Australasia can become syndie, democratic, authoritarian or even national populist afterwards. Even a foreign coup (Japan, Germany) can take place. Or New Zealand can rebel.
Further there is an event where the king flees to Australia is Canada falls.

Thats it though.

@ secretalex125

I will look into China when I have the time. I agree they could use some work, but just giving cores on all of China to all of them? The problem is that none of the governments have the authority to rule all of china: the Qing are seen as German puppets and relics from the past, the nationalists will have to fight for survival against the AlgOstAsien, the Shanqing are mad cultists and Fengtien are Japanese puppets. The other states are either petty warlords or foreigners. See the legitimacy-issues? The events for Qing represent them getting the acknowledgement of the population as a legitimate government.
I do agree other states need some of these too, but at the moment my codingpriorities lie elsewhere.

Questions to all.

Question 1.

At the moment I am coding electionevents for the USA after the Civil War. They depend on the incumbent president (Garner, Curtis/Knox or MacArthur as temporary dictator). I am wondering if the following are plausible candidates:

1940 (civil war is usually over by then):

If Garner was incumbent

Democrats: Garner-Wallace
Republicans: Knox-Dewey

If Curtis/Knox was incumbent (Curtis dies in office)

Democrats: Wallace-Barkley
Republicans: Knox-Dewey

If Mac was dictator, but restored democracy:

Democrats: Wallace-Barkley
Republicans: MacArthur-Knox

1944

If Wallace or Garner is president
Democrats: Wallace-Harriman
Republicans: Taft-Bricker

If Knox/Dewey was president (Knox dies in offie
Democrats: Hull-Barkley
Republicans: Dewey-Bricker

If MacArthur was president
Democrats: Hull-Barkley
Republicans: MacArthur-King

These are just suggestions. Feel free to comment on them.

Question 2:

I am considering replacing the ingame Greek flag with this flag:

old-greek-flag.png

The flag above was the official flag of Greece at the time, even if the ingame flag was used more by the people as the above flag was closely associated with the monarchy. However, the world of Kaiserreich is much more grim and monarchial. Therefore I feel the flag above might be more appropriate.

Fully agreed, that current flag was used as naval until 70s, and this flag fits well in the timeline.

@FlyingDutchie:

You're candidates are "top notch". As for question 2: The greek flag MUST be replaced!!! Speaking of greece, maybe there should be an event chain that makes it possible for Greece to re-institute the "Byzantine Empire" or something like that(Or "The Hellenic Empire", "Greater Hellas"?). That would of course depend on succes in the Balkan Wars that might lead to a renewal of the Megali-idea, and the Ottoman Empire weakened from the Arab Revolution.

Oh, and for 1948 elections I propose this:

If Wallace was president:

Democrats: Harriman, Lehman
Republicans: Bricker, Thurmond

If Taft:

Dem.: Barkley, J. Lister Hill(or Thurmond)
Rep.: Taft, Bricker

If Hull, Dewey or MacArthur:

Dem.: Barkley, J. Lister Hill(or Thurmond)
Rep.: Bricker, Leverett Saltonstall.

:)

One quick question: which site do you advise for file-uploading purpose? I used to use Rapishare, but I'm not sure if it's still the best option avalible. ;) Once I upload the updated version of UoB events and the modified revolt.txt I'll commence some edits of the tech tree.

I was thinking about the tech tree today - and I guess something should be done about the doctrines. Here are my thoughts:

-> Land doctrines should be slightly renamed. No Guderian = no Blitzkrieg, so it should be replaced either by an English variant, or by some more descriptive name.
-> Naval doctrines should recieve an overhaul. Without the III Reich, the Raider Tree has little reason to stay. On the other hand, with the battleships proving themselves in the Weltkrieg and at least four large fleets (German, Japanese, British and Canadian) present in 1936, a chance that the Fleet in Being doctrine would evolve into a more active battleship-focused doctrine seems pretty high.
-> Raiders could be split into two smaller, axullary trees, one for submarines and other for surface craft.
-> Air doctrines could be remodelled as they are in WiF, with a possibility to research fighter doctrines without having to research the first batch of bomber doctrines,

1. "Blitz warfare" or "Force Combination warfare"
2 and 3. I like the idea, though, others would have been proponents for raider tactics in the Kaiserreich timeline. Hyman H. Rickover, Hugh Mulzac, Nimitz and Fluckey, Harry DeWolf(We'll stave the Union into submission! ROWL!") would probably lobby for the path the navy of the III. Reich took OTL.

Cheers:) And btw, I love your "second congress" events!

Good work on the revised techtree Jedrek, we will definetly be including it.

Few pointers on the doctrines:

- Guderian is still around and fighting for his doctrines. After Von Seecks death one possible outcome is Guderians young guard taking charge of the armed forces. Therefore I suggest keeping that name as it is.

- As for the naval doctrines, UoB, Japan and the USA are switching to carriers and even Canada and Germany have them. The battleship is still there, but will probably be replaced during the war. As for the raiders, perhaps it is a good doctrine for the Commune? No way that they can gain parity with the Germans, so why not try to starve Germany of valuable materials (large problem during WW1)?

The techtree files are uploaded on the Kaiserreich forum. Looks like there's little to do with the industrial techtree, and I don't feel like rebuilding the doctrines.

As for the land doctrines - OK, I surrender. Never played the German Kaiserreich game, but I've never seen Guderian becoming a minister, so I guessed he is not a prominent figure in this timeline. BTW - is it possible to make Richthofen a HoG?

Still, I'm missing the decentralised HoI1-style doctrine techtree, without the abstract division into three separate trees (Why the hell should I research carrier doctrines if I'm planning to have a small, CA-based navy?!). Instead, I'd insert a number of separate trees, each focused on a different class or tactic. Thus a player would have an opportunity to specialise in a certain field of navy (for example, raider cruisers) or create an all-round navy, with balanced approach but not excelling in any particular field.

And one more thing - how to deal with tech components that appear in multiple technologies (7,62 mm MGs for example, that appear in all basic-level fighters)? Should their skill level be redued (to reflect that there's no need to research them all over again, but merely adapt them to a new construction) or some other way would be more realistic? I'm also thinking about unifying difficulty levels for technologies sharing the same name (Optican Sights for light, medium and heavy tanks for example), since mechanism stays the same, no matter the tank planned - what matters is the adaptation. What do you think about that?

He does'nt become a minister because of his "simple background", but is still one of the leading proponents for the use of combined forces. von Seydlitz-Kurzbach is the "official" head of this faction within the army due to his aristocratic background, but Guderian is still a prominent general.

I'll keep this in mind in case I wanted to play Germany. Thanks :)

FlyingDutchie what do you think about my idea? Should I try to make up a prototype naval doctrine tree, or you want to stick with the vanilla one and focus on events and database stuff?

There are no events for further congresses. I was thinking about placing the Third Congress in Naples, but I don't think I'll include yet another event chain in my UoB AAR - it's time to advance to the Second Great War, not to lag in game's first years ;)
