If you make a new text file in the WWII folder, the scenario won't know to access it unless it's told to in another file. The easiest thing to do would be to copy the code as it is posted on the forum and paste into an existing text file that the scenario already knows to use, such as Partitions.txt.

As for your error, is that from my event chain or did that exist prior to whatever you did to put the new code in?

Is anyone else having that problem?

I eventually got fixed the error. I guess with JSGME I needed to deactivate and then reactivate the mod for the reinstalled files to work.

I haven't had a chance to test out the new events. I originally placed them in the Peace file and that's when I got the error. I'll try again later because it seems like an excellent event chain.

Love this mod. Currently playing a game as Germany. Militarized heavy from the start, ensuring I had at least 18 or so divisions per province from Mulhouse to Ghent, took the Blitzkrieg path... I managed to defeat France in 1940. I forget the exact date, but it was April or May, I believe. The Syndies never managed to occupy an inch of German soil! :D Turned France over to the Nationalists, who had accepted the Bourbon-Parma claimant as their king. England fell not too long after that. Mitteleuropa expanded to include Russia, as well as the Balkans; I invaded there after the defeat of the Syndicalists to restore the Bulgarian Kingdom. I'm currently preparing to test my modern armies in China, to liberate the Qing (they were annexed by the Japanese) and the South of China, who chose to break away from German liberation. Gott Mit Uns!

Some ideas:

- I agree that giving the Carlists cores on France is a bit much. As the nationalists can accept the Carlist king as their HoS, I'd just give cores to them. I imagine the Bourbon Kingdoms of France and Spain would probably be a lot like a loose Confederation, the two countries would share a king but have separate governments. They would probably coordinate on foreign and economic policy, though, and the militaries would probably work in conjunction. Maybe some ideas for some events like that, such as a customs union? That's how I've been roleplaying it, anyways.

- I thought there was an event chain after defeating the Union of Britain to place the Jacobite claimant, Rupprecht of Bavaria on the throne? I don't mind spliting up the Union into Scottish, Welsh, and English puppets, but I had been hoping to make the Jacobite claimant King :D... maybe also an event choice to hand over Britain to Canada? (You can give National France the metropole, after all...)

- I'm unfortunately too far along to test out of the WW3 events, but I will certainly try them out later. I have been mulling over some ideas for some possible events in the 1950s or even the 1960s, if anyone would be interested. I've never written any events before, but I could learn. One idea would be a 'Suez Crisis' of sorts, if Germany continues to decline and the Egyptians want the Germans out.

- The Union of Britain seems very weak militarily. Or perhaps it was just be, but I had no problems landing a few marines and then shipping over my main armies. I mostly encountered garrisons, and I think of a grand total of 2-3 actual divisions. Granted they had sent a sizable BEF to France, but it hadn't been that excessive. I also noted that the Union of Britain likes to seize Islands. They had been at war with the Entente not long after I went to war with them, and they had seized many parts of the Caribbean Fed. Not weird, but I think they'd focus on the Germans closer to home, and make sure that threat was neutralized before sending out divisions to claim Canada.

@Emp_Palpatine: I think there is a three state choice for France partitioning Germany. I believe the three are Bavaria, Prussia, and... can't remember the third one off the top of my head but I believe it's Confederation of the Rhine. I'd have to look at the code to see what France annexes in that situation. Regardless, we will definitely keep it in mind as an option for Nationalist France victory over Germany if those events haven't yet been coded.

@mw1776: It sounds like there may be an error in my code somewhere which was causing the bug. Maybe even something as simple as a dropped }

I don't have time right now, but if it really is my event causing the error than I'll just need to go through it with a fine tooth comb making sure all the event numbers are typed in correctly, all the necessary brackets are in place, and every i is dotted and t crossed. This is my first long event chain and with 28 events, I wouldn't be surprised if there was an error in there somewhere.

Slightly off topic from the current thread of conversation...

Why do the UoB starting garrison Divisions have such low max strength?

These divisions are meant to represent local homeguard, not fullblown garrisons.

I've played a game with CoF and succesfully took Germany and all it's eastern puppets and these are the things I've noticed:

-Those stuck up Brits never joined me :O Maybe it is caused because they didn't reach a majority during elections or did I go to war too soon?
-The german capitulation event fired but I couldn't partion Germany because the event did not fire. I think this was caused because Austria, which wasn't part of Mitteleurope, decided to DoW me after I had encircled Danzig *the last german VP in Europe*. They had a few German provinces including Munich under occupation because I hadn't reinforced the Austrian border on that side yet.
-In my case Ukraine had turned Radical Socialist but was still part of Mitteleurope. Wouldn't it make sense that when it is clear France has defeated Germany in Europe for them to try and switch sides?
-Besides Flanders puppet event all the puppet events fired. I like them :D But somebody misspelled the province ID's for Poland because they ended up with the Austrian island in Greece and one of the Romanian provinces. Also, I'm correct that there isn't an united Slavish country puppet but just a Croation one atm?

Strange, had the event myself everytime. Did you go to war with Germany through event or of your own accord?

This is a weakpoint of every surrender-event. Unfortunately there is little we can do about this.

Will look into it, but this kind of event has a very high chance to upset other existing events.

This is a big bug. Can you please give me the name of the event which caused this?

Yes but what if the Nationalists DON'T accept the Bourbon Claimant...perhaps add another trigger where if the Nationalists accept then they get the cores.

As to an earlier post about the Italian Federation NOT having the Pope as the Head of State that's because the Austrians Interfered...did you look at the events for Italian Federation? Because you will see multiple versions of the same event depending on WHO is the Head of State. Plus if the Austrians interfere there are further changes and it can become a monarchy as opposed to a Suzerainty.

Other things:

-What about some events about conscription of Women in socialist countries, especially for France?
You know, socialist equality and so on... Plus the fact that the 40 millions populated France will need all she can take to beat the 80 millions Germany.
I see it this way:
* an event at the start of the game, when France choose its doctrines with following choices:
- Army is no place for Women (no consequences)
- Strongly encourages women volunteers and auxiliaries (extra MP growth modifier + little dissent hit)
- Limited conscription of women (like 1 on 3 thing, and not the ones working in war industries; extra MP growth (1/2 of France MP modifier) + dissent + lose of a small percentage of industrial efficiency (like 5%) )
- Men and Women should be conscripted the same way: double the French MP growth, something like 10-20% dissent, loss of 10%+ industrial efficiency.

* if no women conscription or volunteer solutions are choosen: another events regarding females conscription when and if Paris is threatened. Such an event could be associated with the existing event of Paris threatened.

Seems to vary between games. In my COF ones, they joined the war on day 1.

-The german capitulation event fired but I couldn't partion Germany because the event did not fire.

What are the German capitulation event triggers?

First of all, just wanted to say what a great mod!
i love the way everything always turns out differently.

Just thought i would mention a few things i have noticed

I am playing UoB and installed over Arm 1.3b
I get "UNKNOWN STRING WANTED" errors whenever i get a diplomatic popup from Ireland and also in the last two nuclear weapon techs.

The game i am currently playing is quite interesting although not a bug i thought it is interesting and worth mentioning.

The germans managed to intervene in the russian civil war and drove up to moscow and simultaneously landed in murmansk, they then joined up and effectively seperated the Russia from the Soviet union (who had about 8-10 provinces around St. Petersburg).

From there the Russians were beated by the Turkestan/Mongolian alliance, who were then defeated by Dehli !
Dehli now owns everything between Moscow/Calcutta and Vladivostok and has over 150 IC.

Regarding the Russian Civil War, I noticed a few bugs as well. Sometimes, the USSR disappears only a few days after it secedes from Russia. But even after that, the events allowing the Cossacks, Finns and Germans to intervene fire. In addition (this is probably some AI bug), I saw Finland declare war upon Russia via this event, but then something weird happened. All the Russian forces moved AWAY from Finland and toward Siberia. The Finns had some 30 divisions along the border, and the Russians had absolutely zero, not even in St. Petersburg. However, the Finns never tried to attack! About a year later, the Russians came back from their vacation in Siberia and promptly annexed Finland.

Hey FlyingDutch, I took a moment to look it up. The two provinces I mentioned are Craiova ID number 426 and Kefalonia ID numer 393. I've traced the first province back to event 996086 "Lost Polish Territory Returned". Did not see how they got the other one, doesn't seem to be from the annexation events. My guess is that these were suppose to be the Tarnopol and Stanislawow? Those were the two provinces that were left over after I liberated Ukraine. Oh talking about puppets, my romanian french puppet didn't have a goverment. Is this a case of not implented yet or a trigger not firing?

I've also started a Bengal campagin, I've seen in the event files you have a lot of pretty war events but they never fired because the AI Princely Federation declared war on me early 38 out of the blue, with Delphiquick to follow. Just checking if it's working as intented? by the end I've united India with the help of Syndie Burma. The smuggling event is great :D I just wish I had the option for more control of the People Republic of Vietnam to help them win from the Germans, because they have a habit of forgetting to guard their VP provinces and then all my smuggling routes are in vain :(

I always feel bad when I say: could you add that? Because Kaiserreich is by far one of the most interesting mods out there! It always makes me want to try out new countries to play, something vanilla never made me want.

@ Whynot - 1.3B is not fully compatible with Kaiserreich, even after all of our hard work. We recommend playing it on 1.2. The 'unknown string wanted' is annoying, but usually not fatal.

@ Legolas - We know the Russian events are sometimes a bit weird. Unfortunately there is very little I can do about it without risking making it even worse.

@ Theoracle - Thanks for your imput. I will put this bug out of its misery ASAP. The Indian problem is well known, as none of the states seems to care about waiting for chains to finish. I will try to look into it, but don't expect any miracles yet.

Also: this is what we are currently working on for 1.2:

Fixed the following bugs:
- Deleted several double ministers and leaders
- Fixed several names
- Fixed bug in Bulgarian scandal event. The 'Filov resigns' event fired even when the czar agreed with Filov.
- Czar Boris had two death events (custom and vanilla) which conflicted with eachother.

Currently working on:

- Events for Nepals joining the Entente

- Reworking Alsace-Lorraine crisis

- Events for National France, including one for replacing Petain. The possible paths are:
De Gaulle: agressive buildup for war.
Darlan: passive, defensive path
Reynaud: democratisation of France

- Events for Japan:
Correcting grammar and ministers in existing events.
Elections for democratic Japan
Military appointment system for democratic Japan (army and navy had the right to appoint ministers, keeping the government hostage).

Planned work:
- A 'generals defect' event for USA, to eliminate all those pesky double generals (Stillwell, Arnold, LeMay, Halsey, Marshall among others).
- Elections for Kingdom of Spain after the civil war.
- Elections for minors as Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Netherlands.
- Fixing problems with Cores
- Trying to fix/disabling the Russian bitter peace event.

- Events for National France, including one for replacing Petain. The possible paths are:
De Gaulle: agressive buildup for war.
Darlan: passive, defensive path
Reynaud: democratisation of France
Uh... After Petain's death, right?
Or at least have one of those as Premier.
Petain is a legend, kind of a regent IMHO, just can't be replaced like that. Think of Hindenburg OTL. Even Hitler waited for him to die before fullfilling all his ideas.

Also, I heard there is a monarchist path for Nat-France, is there?

And what about Female conscription? ;) Good or bad idea?

Algiers is not a healthy place for an elderly marshall ;). Indeed, the old man will die, very cheesy, of a heart attack.

There is a monarchist event if the Carlists win the Spanish civil war, but I've never seen it fire.

The female conscription is not a bad idea, but we have other priorities for the moment, like democratic countries rarely holding elections.

Well, Algier is very agreable place to live, hence we wouldn't have taken it. :D

And frankly it does not fit IRL Petain much: he was very very healthy and lived past his 90 up until 1951!
I frankly think that you should keep him and use your three choices as Head of government.
Even IRL he was a figurehead... And it's a symbol, both IRL and OTL: Man, he won at Verdun! Our Tannenberg.
Please. Keep him and play around with Prime Ministers. :D

Also, my idea of a monarchist path would be for the national french state to end its continuing "provisionnal" status. But indeed, should be taken into account only after a national reconquest of mainland France.

Well, the stress of losing his homeland and the constant harassment by angry Colons and officers would drive a man of his age to a heart attack sooner or later :D. I know killing Petain is a bit cheap, but it will be a symbolic change for National France ingame, choosing one of three paths that all break the moribund state National France is in.

Why replace Petain?

Petain was already old in 1936 and could have been influenced politicaly.
First De Guaule was part of his family after all... he could be choose as a dauphin , like Darlan.
We could imagine 4 path :
For the first two it would be in the line of the old system ( clause to the apartheid)
Petain listen to the old guard and go with darlan -> most conservative choice
Petain listen to De Guaule during a family dinner who just want to proove him the use of modern armour unit bought from the canadian? (it could be done during the rebellion event)

Or Nationalist France could choose (a dangerous path) to work more closely with the native population , either Reynaud alone with the promise that if France is liberated , Algeria and Marocco will be some sort of indepandance (i think it should be the path with the more risk of the CoF to make a socialist intervention)
Or to work with de Guaule for some sort of alliance with the military.
