Just downloaded the final version on the weekend and have been trying it out -- I played an earlier version of Kaiserreich, and it's nice to see a lot of the updates. Playing as Canada, it was very gratifying to finally liberate the United Kingdom and see the repercussions from that unfold.

A few things I've noticed:

- The Iceland event chain isn't as helpful as it seems to be intended. For one, even though I supposedly installed a new and friendly government in Iceland after the crisis their relationship with me changed to about -180. They canceled their alliance with us the day after it was made. Very annoying.

- The events following the United Kingdom's creation seem fine (inluding the much-appreciated bump to their relationship) with one exception: the removal of (was it 250?) convoys... considering I didn't start the game with any merchant marine, it seems unfair that they would "go back" to the UK. Not only that, I didn't *have* that many convoys, and it put me in the negative. Suddenly all my troops were left unsupplied until I could build more.

- The war between Germany and the Commune of France is the most tentative affair one could possibly imagine. They exchange a territory of two along the border, on occasion, but otherwise nothing much happens. Is this normal? Even when I landed in Brittany and advanced on Paris, hoping to draw French forces away -- successfully, I might add -- Germany never pressed the advantage at all. Seems really strange.

Still working on taking down France in my current game. Canada just doesn't have the manpower for that, and the UK is unhelpful (they won't allow me to take over control of their military) so without Germany pushing its advantage it's not going to be easy to say the least.

Still, I'm enjoying the mod a lot -- excellent work, to all those involved. I can't wait to play again as Russia!

Wow, perfect event chain for Austria! No more bloody fights for centralisation of monarchy, Hungarians just accept centralisation and Austria-Hungary or Danuabian Federation can be established. But there is still one odd thing about Austrian story. Why do I get -150 relations with Germany if I make Danubian Federation? Do Germans feel threatened by stronger Austria? If this is true, it is quite realistic, altough I didn't expect such bad relations with old friends from Weltkrieg.

I am having issues trying to get this to start. I overwrite all of the files in my Doomsday files with this mods files, but the game that starts is still Doomsday and the factions shown are still the doomsday and not the Kaiserreich factions. Do I just start up Doomsday normally or is their something special I have to do to start it up

See if the Kaiserreich-scenario has appeared on the scenario list and play it if it has.

God DAMNIT.

I'm actually having DREAMS about Kaiserreich now.

I would like to extend my subconscious hatred towards the entire Kaiserreich team. =P

EDIT:

The worst part about it is that I'm pretty sure all of the provinces were actually correct. >.<

Just a small note on the bug about infantry costing 0.1 manpower, it only seems to affect the 1939 model. It's not like Germany is going to run out of manpower with their already large army, high population, and high amount of dissent that needs to be burned, so this isn't a huge issue.

Btw are there events that force the Commune of France into war with Germany? I'm playing the latter and decided to build up my forces for a loss as possible, even though the Syndicalist took over neutral Italy, but it's already mid-1940 and nothing is happening... Do I have to take control of the situation and bonk some heads myself if I want something to happen? Russis turned into an isolationist Social Democracy and I'm allied with the Austrian led block, so I can definitely take them on any time I want.

Btw are there events that force the Commune of France into war with Germany?

Three actually:
1) Germany bans a Syndicalist trade union, France declares war.
2) Archduke dies, Germany declares war on France.
3) France demands German territory, Germany refuses, France declares war.

I've been trying to "fix' the third event, since it leads to a 99% chance of war, which I feel is ridiculous. But all three events haven't been triggered yet...okay, you might have to bonk some heads.

Two bugs I noticed.

The bohemia backround still uses the CHE bakcround when in the production and diplo tabs and has the CHE flag in top right hand corner.

When the Swiss offer a trade agreement (this is with 1.0) the bottom half of their flag shows half of another flag. Can't remember which one it shows.

The Kaiserreich scenario appears in game, but the flags for several already existing nations and the descriptions have not changed. For example, the German flag is still the flag of Germany in Vanilla and the description still describes the rise of Hitler and Germany's loss in the first war. Several nations that should be there are also missing. For Example, instead of National France and the Commune of France, only France appears. When I try to play, it says it is not reading the events file. Obviously I screwed up the installation SOMEWHERE, but where did I screw up and, more importantly, how do I fix it

Well I have save games where it effects the 1939 model and the 1941 model, and I have a save game where it effects the 1936 model and the 1939 model. I believe it must occur when you research certain land doctrines in two trees at once.

Unfortunately (for German players like me) the Guderian event for Germany should probably strip Germany of all land doctrines when selected, precluding going down two tech trees (and the probable cause of this bug). Although I love the super-soldiers, I have to admit this was probably not an intended outcome*

*Although it puzzles me how it was missed. Even when not researching any extra land doctrines, Germany still winds up with Firepower + Superior Firepower doctrines in addition to the Blitzkrieg line as long a the "Kaiser looks to the future" Guderian event is selected. Not sure if that was even intended. But even better, you can immediately begin to research the next two doctrines, and when the event fires, it deactivates those technologies, but because you are already researching them they are not deactivated and you are allowed to continue down the tech tree. Same goes for if you research Grand Battle Plan doctrine (probably the best strategy because the night fighting bonuses in 1943 are godlike), as long as you have completed it or are currently researching it, there is no penalty. So you can get two land doctrine trees this way and I believe that is what causes the 0.1 manpower bug (no proof of this but no better idea).

Changes I want to see in 1.1:

-I propose that Soviet Russia be weakened (either nerf the "liberate all of eurasia" event or force a "Soviet" Russia to use a +9 Central Planning slider seeing as laissez faire communism makes little sense) because as it is now a full free market, full hawk lobby, full authoritarian, full interventionism Russia is easily possible with correct event choices, and this country receives cores on territory that totals to over THREE HUNDRED BASE IC. This is without building any extra IC whatsoever. It is basically a dream country that can only be matched by a heavily powerleveled Germany.

-I also propose that Canada should be able to BECOME the UK (not just liberate it) through event (much more fun than giving up everything you've built so far), retaining Canadian cores (Alaska too why not, "It's mine now")

-Ottomans should be able to get cores on their former territories imo. As it is they don't really have a goal. Not fun. Also Egypt/Arabia should be able to get MORE Arab cores (the pan-arab movement is pretty pathetic in 1.0)

-The Entente alliance could probably be strengthened (as it is Mitteleuropa is the only powerful alliance, Russia Japan and winner of ACW usually stay unaligned). Specifically National France should be strengthened because right now there is no way for them to achieve their goal of national reunification without divine intervention.

-Commune of France (and UoB) need to be improved a bit. Central Planning economy is just so inferior to the free market economies Germany and Russia can muster. Perhaps they should benefit from high +Industrial_Efficiency bonuses due to women labor? Also France needs more resources as it currently experiences a severe resource shortage. UoB seems to have an unnecessary amount of dissent events, and has zero ability to get more core provinces. Seems to me that it would be a (very) fun incentive to offer Canadian, Australian, possibly even US cores to a UoB that fights off the imperialists and establishes syndicalism in these English-speaking dominions)

-The game DRASTICALLY needs more leaders for certain countries like Delhi, Lithuania, Mexico. I believe this is being worked on but just in case it isn't, I would say that even fictional leaders would be an improvement. Adding 30-50 skill zero no-portrait Lt. generals to every leaderfile would be a great help when it comes to playing minor countries!

-Finally everything just needs more. The game is fun but essentially ends before 1940. There's very little "next step" type events that take the game beyond the first war and the game seems empty after this point. There need to be events that set up a showdown between a successful Entente and Mitteleuropa. There should be a series of events in the 1940s that automatically bring either France or Germany (depending who won) into conflict with a powerful Russia, essentially starting WWIII. Perhaps there should be a war involving India and China as rivals if they both achieve unification. Mexico should be able to reclaim all of its lost territories from the USA. Sweden should be able to become Scandinavia. Argentina and Brazil need goals to achieve (unification of South America anyone?) Same for Mittelafrika and South Africa. Heck maybe it would be fun to give Mongolia the ability to recreate Genghis Khan's empire... okay maybe not. But the point is that the game needs more second-stage events, and more events that give countries goals to achieve.

Quick reference list of KaiserReich nations that can achieve the insane benefits of full free market status:
-Qing China
-Russia/Soviet Russia
-Germany (move +FM slider once, achieves +8 Free Market in march 1937 election if not at war, 9 (full) Free market in march 1942)
-Japan (must choose strong democratic state and prince Konoe. Winds up with full democratic slider and inferior hawk lobby slider, worse ministers)
-Canada (starts this way, has a severe manpower issue that is best solved by picking manpower ministers and invading the USA)
-Delhi (however their leader pool is pathetic; unplayable because you run out of leaders for your army)
-USA (starts this way but has poor other sliders even after you win a war that severely damages your country's IC total)
-Various other minor countries (Switzerland, Netherlands)

are you gonig to the Kaiserreich battle scenario or are you selecting the vanilla 1936 scenario? i did this the first time as well. You need to scroll down
The Kaiserreich battle scenario. Some of the nations have changed. Russia's flag has changed and it is called Russia, not the Soviet Union, but others are not. I could not extract the files directly into the Hearts of Iron directory, so I did it manually by extracting them to the desktop and then moving them into the appropriate folders manually. Now my computer claims their is a db error and won't even start the game in the first place. Should I just uninstall and start again

No, I chose the Direct option. It went into WinRAR and that program would not let me extract directly too the game. I manually moved scenarios to scenarios and db to db and so on and so forth

hmm. I don't know how to fix that , i hope you made a backup, I didn't do the direct method and went with JSgame so that may have to be the way you take. did you download 1.0 or the 1.1?

Need to do 1.0 first and then write 1.1 over it. you may want to try to extract the file again and try to copy and paste again.

only things i could think of.

I think what i should have done is transfer everything into the Kaiserreich scenario in Scenario. I did not back it up, but I intend to uninstall and reinstall, that should wipe out the kaiserreich files and replace them with the originals. If that does not work, I will do a restore

All good suggestions HarkovAdm. I hope the team takes them into consideration.

Now, I need the help of the Kaiserreich community. As I'm currently working on some new skins for personal use (maybe uploading, not certain) I've arrived at Bengal.

However, I find it pretty damn hard to come up with some useful pictures to utilize for this Indian Syndicalist wet-dream.

Work so far:

fulltest.jpg

As you might notice, it's neither very complete nor very socialist. Arguably it's actually more fit for the PF right now than Bengal... Anyone got ideas for spiffing it up?

Milites, maybe you should consider about using material from first Indochina war? Indochina is not India, but since India went trough non-violent decolonisation, it is hard to get anything that could symbolise Indian Syndicalist rebels. Your picture looks nice, but I realy can't connect war elephants with Indian Syndicalists.
