Yeah, that's the point of departure - see, for example, this summary of the war. The collapse of Austria-Hungary might have been inevitable by the spring of 1918 (IIRC, the first major mutiny was in the navy in February 1918), but IMHO it was not inevitable in the spring of 1917.

This changes things (Atleast for the Austria issue. I still don't agree with the Balkan). But why such an alternative war then. The German 1918 offensive would be successfull then and that would be that.
 
As I am currently playing Mittelafrika, so I have made some changes to the OOB of Mittelafrika.

There might have been special reasons for this mix of German and English names, but I made the names as German as possible.

Maybe this can be added for a next update, if not then no harms done :)

Btw, has any thought been given to cores events for National France and Canada when they retake their respective homelands?

As I am currently playing Mittelafrika, so I have made some changes to the OOB of Mittelafrika.

1. Gave the 'regular' division German names (1. instead of 1st and Mittelafrikanische instead of Mittelafrikan)
2. Changed the name of Askari Rifles fo Askari Schützen Division
3. Gave the Militia-units Germanised names, except of the Outer Heaven Warlords, since I have no idea why they are named that way.
4. Downgraded the cavalry-kampfgruppen to level 1 (was 2) and the attached AC-brigades to level 0 (was level 1). There may have been a special reason why they were so 'modern' but it looked kind of weird.
5. Fixed one typo in Landswehr
6. Gave the airunits Germanised names (Kommando instead of Command and I. Gruppe instead of 1st Group)
7. Gave the fleets Germanised names
8. Changed the name of the BB Karl Peter to Carl Peters, since that was his German name
9. Changed he name of the other BB to Lüderitz (forgot what it was originally, but I think the name Lüderitz was meant)
10. Changed name of the CL Gross-Friedrichsburg to Groß-Friedrichsburg

I am currently working on a very detailed event set (with minister files, etc.) regarding a Canadian victory over the UoB. However, a basic premise of mine is that in such an event, Canada would not 'take over' the UK, but rather the UK would be re-established as an independent country, with Edward VII & all of his supporters returning home.

Goodie. Exactly what I had in mind myself. I hope you're not using that broken tag change command though.

Edit: The UK would still be a member of the Entente though?

i saw the 'Outer heaven' division when i was playing and it... surprised me too. the only reference i have ever heard of or can find on the net for Outer Heaven is in regard to the Metal Gear Solid series. Outer Heaven was a place in Africa which was something of a 'Soldier's Paradise' in i think either the original game or its sequal, way back in the 80s. it seems a slightly weird and random thing to put in this mod - is it some sort of in-joke from one of the developers of the mod, perhaps? i'm quite curious. unless i'm barking up the wrong tree and outer heaven is something else.

Probably because they wanted Germany to keep most of it's colonies and be the worlds only superpower at game start. Hello, I was playing the Kaiserreich mod as Russia, and I chose to follow the Soviet Union path. All the proper events happened and I switched to the USSR, however, I go to check my tech teams, and I am greeted by this:



Ass you can see, all my tech teams have stopped researching, but the techs are locked, as they are supposedly still under research.

Is this a common problem? Easy to get around?

I have the same porblem. How to fix it, the adivce below doesnt change anything as to remove the tech teams on the left, but the not reasearchs stay.
 
I had a few problems with the mod when i played as union of britain (first time i went to war with syndicalists)
1. When my alliance took all of poland, as they didn't exist (France annexed them) the event fired, which made Poland form from the lands we had taken. (Poland, when formed this way is a neutral state.) As the Germans had 15-30 divisions on the remaining baltic sea coast and I had no marines I couldn't amphib assault and so had to take a 2-3 year detour, taking over the lands of the ottomans and going through the Bosphorous (it took longer than it would've as I got my transports killed). In the end it was fine especially when i learned that since the germans had about 30 IC they could barely upgrade or reinforce.
2. When the Philipines coup event fires, the germans get a choice about whether they ask for bases, Jap withdrawal, etc. When they get the bases accepted, they get the province Bataan, which has no beaches or neighboring provinces which GER gets and a VP which means I cannot annex them even after taking everything else.
3. When you have the congress of trade unions event chain, you have an event which one of options gives you +200% manpower daily which make daily manpower generated 2.02 or so. This seems a bit much to me as even with India + Burma, UK in Vanilla only gets about 1.5 manpower daily at most.

Panchito and Delex, the thing about that is when you change country tag, all the tech team's research becomes locked. So you either have to restart from last Autosave, or quit.

Yeah, the UK will be a member of the Entente. And I've avoided using the broken tag change - I've set it up so that when the event occurs to re-establish the UK, the player can pause, save & reload as the UK before any important British events occur.
 
Will there be any way for the UK to annex Canada? Because aside from being cool I feel that considering the influx of British exiles there might be the idea of a sort of Imperial Federation...

Personally, I don't think this would happen. If anything, a KR Canada would be even more assertive of its independence, considering that it had kept the Empire going for over a decade. The same goes for Australasia - having survived on its own for over a decade, it would hardly agree to resubmit to any significant degree of control from London. I tend to see the Empire as very much a coalition of equals, even after the liberation of the UK (though the British might try to regain some control over 'lesser' members of the Empire - i.e. the Caribbean Federation & Delhi). Having said that, I have thought about Imperial Conferences to co-ordinate actions among the states of the Empire - thoughts on how such co-ordination could work would be very helpful. :)

Depends - right now, the critical turning point in post-liberation UK is the first free election. One of the parties (the Nationals) are absolutely focussed on revenge against Germany, so if they win the election, a war against Germany is very likely. However, the Liberals are generally pacifists, so if they win war is unlikely.
 
Good to hear that :) BTW, who's working on Russia right now? Will the changes and improvements be as remarkable as in Canada?
 
I think that with Canada at least since it basically held the Empire together it should have the chance of merging with Britain because it basically created the new United Kingdom. It will be doing most of the work rebuilding and defending Britain for the first few years and do to the number of British exiles influencing Canadian culture and politics they may very well see themselves more as British than Canadians. They would therefore want a say in this new Empire. I think that they may be willing to move the capital to London but they would except a large number of seats in the HOuse of Commons. Of course some factions would not want unification but it would be something the tories would support.

This happens quite often that nations make peace but still get full occupied whiteout being annexed.



The French peace has to be improved (Geneva).


German AI has to be improved. They don't use the resources they have at hand not effectively. They are only experts in conducting amphibious assaults to back stab the front. Here Europe is allied under German leadership versus me. But countries fight separately and ineffectively, so there is no real problem overrunning them.
