Vatican Skin hmmn, that sounds like either a really bad punk rock band or a really low budget alternative porn film

America First uses the TEX tag.

Yep, true. Although if there's a good reason why Texas could be a possible (and distinctive!) revolter nation, I suppose it could be moved into one of the U.. tags...

Well, here is another possibility, Robert Oppenheimer was working at the University of California when he was tabbed to lead the Manhattan Project . . .

California could turn into an eminently playable nation, heck California has the land, resources and population of a medium sized country in reality . . .

Yes, thanks! Although in game terms it's still quite a lot weaker than the other American states (eg. 25-30 IC, vs 100+....). However, it is quite protected because of the large number of relatively low-infrastructure provinces it gets, so it still takes a while to be defeated.

So, all it needs is to use this delaying time to find a powerful guarantor!

So do I, but it'll need very specific conditions to make it feasible!

Eg. Russia would need to be expansionist and control Vladivostok (to make some sort of naval connection possible), and America would still need to be in a state of chaos.

Actually, are there any VPs in Alaska? If there are, it could mean that the USA would form a government in exile there by default, if the rest of there country were occupied by one of the other factions...

well if there isnt a vp in Alaska, you could assign one of course.

Nice Vatican skin T-Hiddeman.

You could also have Hawaii as a revolver from the US with the possibility of a small poor independent island nation or a Japanese puppet.

i see this as a somewhat waste of TAGs...

Any word on the game crash casue by a US DOW? If you have ideas on where to look I would be willing to help (although I'm not too familiar AI scripting).

Also, California declared independance twice. The first time it was re-absorbed into the Union then a few months later declares independance again

Yep, definitely could do - although I'd need to see how it all works in practice first though, as I'm 100% sure if it's a good idea or not...

Mmmm - there isn't actually that much of a problem with tags, as there are many user defined and decolonised African countries which can still be used. However, there wouldn't really be much chance of it surviving for very long, and finding ministers, leaders and tech-teams for new countries would require quite a bit of work.

I believe the American DOW crashes have been fixed in the bug-fixing update from a few days ago - I think they were caused by an event which made the countries load up incompatible or incorrectly made AI files, so these effects were deleted and everything now seems to be running more or less okay.

The double independence of California was probably because there are two different circumstances where it can declare independence:

1) Radical Election victory;
2) Radical government policy after the election (eg. introduces conscription...).

So, under the current setup, if a CSA or America First Government is elected, there is chance that California will declare independence following this, and a further chance afterwards that it will back down and be reincorporated.

However, if the USA is following some sort of radical policy as well, then the flag is set for California to delcare independence again, via a different event.

Shouldn't be too difficult to stop happening, but keeping it in may stop the USA player becoming too complacent...

I made leader pics for all of the above, except for Franz von Keil and Archduke Rupprecht who I could not find. Where possible I gave you 2 choices. Here is the ZIP FILE
