Tag change composite bug report: When a country changes designation for another (Brittany becoming France for example), the change will not be effective until a reload. Events of the former country are still appearing and notifications for leaders are appearing twice. Some messages (RM & Alliance refusal, Merchants competed away), are not shown anymore although the message settings haven't changed. Loans get mixed or even lost when a country changes tag (Castille becoming Spain for example). Countries that get changing tag events during wars (eg: Castile and Aragon), the opposing countries have a habit of demanding ALL of your territories and military access in peace negotiations right after you change tags... EVEN if you're winning the war.

a couple of us had a problem whereby when annexing a country, and gaining their troops, we were unable to do anything with them.
I had annexed Tunisia and therefore got control or their army of 30,000 men, but when I clicked on them I couldn't move them split them, merge them with my own men, or even disband them. Also their moral, which was "weak", didn't ever increase back to normal.
At one point Tunisia rebelled, this "ghost" army lost the battle and were kicked over the border to Algiers. After I had sent a new army into Tunisia to kill the rebels, the "ghost" army came back on their own. Very strange behaviour. Confirmed still an issue by the MP players. Thread 35438.

AI wars that never end. Usually due to lack of access to each other, mutual conquest, or low warscore by any single ally.
UPDATE: If forced annexation is on this problem happens when a vassal nation conquers a province owned by a one-province nation and then refuses to make peace until its alliance leader (and liege) makes peace. The alliance leader refuses to accept peace since it cannot gain anything from the 100% victory result.
If forced annexation is off the problem becomes more severe: whenever a one province minor is conquered by a nation that is not alliance leader, no peace can be made and the situation results in perpetual war. The nation that occupied the province refuses to make peace on its own, regardless of status (if forced annexation were on, it would annex the occupied nation as long as the nation that occupied the province was not a vassal). The Breakvassal command will not work when place in the overlord's event file and targeted at the vassal, unless the game has been saved and reloaded after the vassalage happened. The Breakvassal command always works if placed in the vassal's event file and targeted at the overlord.

An overlord cannot cancel a vassalage via the diplomatic menu, unless the game has been saved and reloaded after the vassalage happened. The vassal can always manually cancel his vassalage via the diplomacy menu.

A vassal which was created by the overlord during the game cannot have the vassalage cancelled by the overlord via the diplomatic menu unless the game has been saved and reloaded after the vassalage happened. An overlord can cancel a vassalage which was present at the start of a scenario via the diplomatic menu. Threads 43199, 209165.

Due to the changes with pagans not giving maps when you capture the capital, it's possible to end up with armies in unexplored territory, if they somehow got to know it and send armies there. These armies function properly, except that they simply are in an unknown province.

So a combination of not inheriting the pagan nation's maps, and being able to conquer a whole pagan nation in one go, mean any of their armies which are in territory unknown to the conquering power will end up in a stranded, lost, kind of state. Presumably these armies have to be outside the conquered country at the moment of conquest. Thread 139194.

Game data leaks over from one save game to another. Any data fields used in one game not also used by a save game loaded from the in-game menu are left as is and may be actually used by that game. For example if the first game has an Emperor of the HRE and the second, for whatever reason, does not, it will inherit the emperor setting of the first game. Proposed solution is to eliminate in-game loading of saves. Thread 84212.

When besieging a city in plains (terrain type "0"), the Defender Siege Value does not get modified for terrain; in all other terrains, the DSV is supposed to be increased by 2. Extensive testing shows this does not occur in a siege started the first month after, or already in progress when, starting a game or loading a save game. This has been confirmed in 1.00 and 1.08, but did not occur in EU. The workaround would be to stop and restart all sieges of cities on plains under way when you load or start a game, and not initiate any siege of a plains city until the first month of play has ended.

If you have warships you still pay maintenance on the lost galleys but not on the corresponding number of warships. There is a typecast error in computing the probability of empty slot merchant placement success. Trade efficiency is truncated to an integer within the computation (this type of error is known as a typecast error). The end result is that, in regards to empty slot merchant placement success, there is no difference between 20% and 99% trade efficiencies. Similarly, there is no difference between 100% and 199% trade efficiencies. There are however great differences between 99% and 100% trade efficiencies and between 199% and 200% trade efficiencies. By reaching 200% trade efficiency, empty slot merchant placement success is the maximum of 95% success rate no matter what the other factors. Extensive details available in Thread 219771.
