how would a 3rd world country's units look? say, a South American country in 1915 for instance.

Generic.

If I get done the North American units, I might do some cursory work on SA.

Thank you ever so much, Stephen. :)

It appears as if you have very good sources for photographs - what are they?
The vast majority came from Rosebud's WW1 & Early Aviation Image Archive, http://www.earlyaviator.com/archive1.htm

There was also a French site, www.aviafrance.com, for the more obscure French aircraft, and a couple of British sites on the RFC. I found those through Google Image Search, however.

And for some reason the link button on the forum isn't working, so I had to cut and paste them manually...

Confusion perhaps; indecision and lethargy definately. :p I am not sure whether we assumed the air unit types were given, but I understand the situation as thus:

Scout Fighter (HOI II: Interceptor)
0 - Early (1915)
1 - Basic (1916)
2 - Improved (1918)
3 - Advanced (1920)

Two-Seat Fighter (HOI II: Fighter)
0 - Basic (1916)
1 - Improved (1918)
2 - Advanced (1920)

Escort Fighter (HOI II: Escort Fighter)
0 - Basic (1916)
1 - Improved (1918)
2 - Advanced (1920)

Recon/Bomber (HOI II: Multi-Role)
0 - Early (1913)
1 - Basic (1915)
2 - Improved (1917)
3 - Advanced (1919)

Contour Bomber (HOI II: Tactical Bomber)
0 - Basic (1917)
1 - Improved (1920)

Strategic Bomber (HOI II: Strategic Bomber)
0 - Basic (1917)
1 - Improved (1919)
2 - Advanced (1921)

Seaplane (HOI II: Naval Bomber)
0 - Basic (1915)
1 - Improved (1917)
2 - Advanced (1919)

Airship (HOI II: Transport)
0 - Primitive (1905)
1 - Early (1915)
2 - Basic (1916)
3 - Improved (1918)
4 - Advanced (1920)

Given this, your .rar download shall be very useful!

There is no such thing as "fighter" in HOI2...

From text.csv:

EYR_INT;Interceptor;Intercepteur;Intercettore;Interceptor;Abfangjäger;Myœl. przechw.;;;;;x

EYR_MUL;Fighter;Chasseur multi-rôle;M.R. Caccia;Caza;Mehrzweckjäger;Myœl. œr. zas.;;;;;x

EYR_ESC;Escort;Echap. chasseur multi-rôle;Caccia di sc.;Escolta;Begleitjäger;Myœl. esk.;;;;;x

In other words, the vanilla models are "interceptor", "fighter" and "escort", if you play the English-language version of the game.

Confusingly, the file for fighters in units\divisions is called multi_role.txt. But in the game, they're called "fighters". And just as we said before, in 1914 the fighter model is being used for 2-seater fighters.

Because I find it glaringly bad...

Hmm dont know if I saved them as png or bmp. Imageshack says the former, but windows says the latter

And because I find it even more annoying to see mechanised infantry, motorised infantry and paratroopers where there should be Guards/Assault troops, reserves and light infantry:

(You'll note that I've also added a few extra funnels to the ship images, to make them 1914-compatible. :) And turned the Transport Aircraft into a Zeppelin.

The transport aircraft unit type has been removed fro mthe game, and replaced by the Airship unit type. Assuming the model has been created, it should have a strategic bombing factor, a small naval factor, and high defence. It can't transport troops, though. (Leave that for the "H G Wells' War in the Air" mod)
