Thinking of starting an AAR, but need to ask...

I've been thinking of writing an AAR for some time now but am often overawed by the prospect, especially when I see how many talented writers there are here.

I've finally decided that I may now have a bash at this but need to ask a couple of questions first:

1. How do you guys do the actual write ups? What I mean is, do you write off-line in word or word pad and then paste the whole thing into the thread. If so how do I do this?

2. I know that for piccies and screenies its best to convert to jpeg and host them on another site. How do I link the piccies and screenies so that they are inserted into the AAR thread from the host site?

There are a number of posts on this subject and other linked in one of the stickes up there... both in the welcome thread and in the links repository...

I write in word, and then add the needed formats to txt in the post or add the code:

[I] starts italics and so on....

Pics: you need the URL on the pic (the adress) then either type it in, or use the handy button in the post just hover your mouse over them to see what they do

I use word. And for screenies I use imageshack.

Thanks for the info. I did look at one or two other threads i.e. the solAARium. But I found them quite overwhelming.

I sorted myself some space at imageshack. It says I get to store twenty images. Do the images I link to my AAR need to remain on imageshack permanently to be seen on my AAR?

It may sound like a stupid question to you, but I am the village idiot!

Thanks for replying. I've registered with imageshack but perhaps it'd be wise to try both .

Imageshack has unlimited storage space, but Photobucket makes it easier to find the pic you're looking for. Both are good but Photobucket goes down more.

I find imageshack more reliable, for all other image storage spaces are biting back at me, they won´t work...

One says my account has been deleted - even though I was trying to log in a few seconds after I registered, and the second refused to let me upload anything but pretty red crosses...

I didn't mean the SoAARium.. there is a list of how to's in the stickies up there, and some different ones floating in this forum.
