1848.

That year will be remembered. That was the year when everything started to go to hell for the Empire of Austria. Liberal revolutions. Nationalism. Dissidence. The so called "Red Movement" wasn't born back then... But the people of Austria were like a puddle of oil... All it needed was a small spark...

That spark was two thousand and thirty nine Moravian anarco-liberals. The army crushed them, yes. But the rebels kept coming and coming. Soon the nationalist of Bohemia-Moravia, Slovakia, Croatia, Hungary, Poland and Italy were running in the streets, toting guns, yelling in anger and carrying banderols.

The Hungarians declared indepence. But they didn't declare war. They were too busy squashing some misguided anarchists that had wandered into their territory.

It could have been avoided. But because the young emperor was, well, completely inept, the power rested in the hands of Metternich's faction. No mercy for rebels, no negotiation, send the cavalry... Foolish mistakes.

Then the neo-absolutists made a coup. It was the birth of the red movement. The farmers living in serfdom couldn't take it. They took up arms, painted red banderolls and marched. Few months later they had marched to Wien. The majority of army was crushing Bohemians who ahd declared indepence. Both the emperor and the goverment was executed...

The People's Republic of Austria was born.

Republic...

Well, everybody can vote... The commies.

Yes, the commies. And their "president" Johan Ulm.

But nothing is sure... Yet...

........................................................................................................

Alrydt ten, the situation is this: The year is 1850->, Austria is now a presidental dictatorship with The Communists as only political party, Hungary is independent and the country is filled with all sorts of political lunatics, mostly reds...

We'll see where this things goes. ;)

This should be interesting. Austria's centralized position gives it plenty of opportunities to spread the word of communism.

Does this mean you'll stop the other AAR? :(

Nope, Piratini Republic will not die. NEVER!

But I'll propably be more in my very own element when doing this... :D

*rabid commie mode kicks in* :D

This will definedly be some Good Stuff. The whole europe is in chaos. Even then newborn Hungary has severe problems with rebels...

It's too bad there's no espionage in Victoria, otherwise I'm sure you'd become the Iran of Europe. ;)

Indeed, that is a pity... I would make the whole continent burn! MWAAH!

Ahem.

"Communism is the science of the conditions of the liberation of the proletariat"

Johan found himself talking, or rather, commanding a yelling crowd that was composed of the Volksarmee and few thousands of other people. The crowd was tightly packet and he could feel the enthusiams, perhaps even, anger rising from the crowd. He took a deep breath and start talking:

"COMRADES! Praha has been attacked by the enemies of the revolution! And who are these enemies!? Capitalists! Aristocrats! CLERGYMEN! The ungragefull clergymen are trying to strangle the revolution to its grave! BUT THEY WILL FAIL! Army of the People! March forward and CRUSH THEM!"

The crowd roared. The army started to march.

After the "show" was over, Johan returned to the headquarters of CPOAEE(Communist Party of Austria and Eastern Europe). He smiled to the clercks and officers who were there.

"Have you seen Comrade Karl?" President asked

"Comrade Karl is in his office. He is working with the Rail Traffic Plan." one of the clercks answered

"Thank you, Comrade."

Johan walked into office of the Minister of Traffic.

"Hello Comrade Johan. I suspect that you are here to ask of my work?" Minister of Traffic, Karl said

"You are correct Comrade Karl."

"Yes, indeed. Our plan is to build a country-wide railroad system and then upgrade the rails, starting from the most strategic locations such as provinces with iron mines."

Railroads in 1850

"Thank you Comrade. Keep my up on date." Johan said and walked out the office.

Days passed, troops triumphed, Johan talked, the world wondered what was going on...

The liberals calmed down. The clergymen of Praha clamed down after getting crushed on earth. The troops clamed after getting drunk and suffering from hangover. Life returned into it's semi-safe, semi-normal state.

commie1.jpg

The People's Army. CPOAEE also has a navy called People's Liberation Navy.

Even if violence was an important part of the revolution, most of the people in CPOAEE were pacfists. Johan wasn't pro war but he wondered were the armed forced sufficent to repel a possible hostile invasion... It was...against his expectations that the european powers didn't leap on them... Maybe they'll do it later...

The biggest threat and sorrow was the Hungarians. Many factories and thousand of kilometres of railway were left to the hands of hungarians. But revolutions were going on in Hungary... Their relations weren't too great and he could understand why...

commie2.jpg

Hungary.

But they couldn't cry for those lost factories for all eternity... Cement was needed and world market couldn't be trusted and was to be avoided...

commie3.jpg

All the cement factories were lost to the Hungarians. Therefore, new one, possibly new ones, are needed.

CPOAEE had enforced new policies as soon as they gained the power:

commie5.jpg

Capitalists and aristocrats must be removed. Removal of clergymen is also planned. They will taste their own medicine in the coal mines!

CPOAEE has a large nation, important resources and fanatic followers. But will they triumph? What is the fate of world's first communist state?

More of this and communist rhetorics coming soon. Next chapter can ONLY be better!

Capitalists and aristocrats must be removed. Removal of clergymen is also planned.

Oh yeah

COMMIES! <looks around nervously> COMMIES EVERYWHERE!

Communist Austria is definitely an interesting prospect. Do you have any grand plans?

Yeah. Early DDR. :D

Or rather: SDDR.

"Poland is the Germany of internet. Always attacking somewhere."

dammit, wrong quote...

"The written history of all hitherto existing society is the history of class struggles"

The clergy were as much history as the smoking ban was. So were the capitalists. A small, no, a large victory for the CPOAEE.

commie6.jpg

Enemies of the society.

The methods CPOAEE used were quite mercifull. In fact, nobody died. A least nobody was ordered to kill a capitalist, aristocrat or a clergymen. They were turned into a part of the society...

commie7.jpg

Now the bible-thumpers do something actualy usefull. DISCLAIMER: I have nothing against Poland. It is that everybody sems to convert polish POPs into soldiers...

But the enemies of the revolution weren't gone...

commie8.jpg

The Most Definedly Intresting social situation of Austria.

The manpower expansion allowed the Volksarmee to double its size. A separate People's Army of Poland was founded. People's Army of Ilyria and People's Army of Galicia are planned.

Cement production started in North Italy, allowing us to expand our railroads.

commie10.jpg

Railroads in 1855

New factories were built to provide work for the people.

commie9.jpg

Böhmen und Mähren, the industrial powerhouse of Austria

The scientists of CPOAEE made several important inventions, including the field fortifications, interchangeable parts and standardized small arms.

A machine parts factory was built. CPOAEE had to take loan.

commie11.jpg

God may not play dice but Johan Ulm plays. Marx also plays. Both Marx and Ulm also drink absinth.

Major hostilities flamed up in the balkans, but CPOAEE decided that it would be wise to stay out of this "Crimean war". The third Netherlandian war started and ended to the humiliation of Belgium.

Europe

Will CPOAE be the bastion of peace in world of wars or will the Red Dragoons ride for glory...

I can hear how you are itching to read the next chapter! Patience!

FINAL DISCLAIMER: And I *still* have nothing against Poland, Anarco-Liberals or Catholics.

EDIT: Never mind, pictures work fine.

How did you get the aristocrats and capitalists to join the population? Can socialist governments do that?

Indeed. Tax them into the middle classes.

Just consolidating. How terribly stable. What about "World-wide-revolution"? An idea whose time has come?

The Crimean War would have been a perfect chance to spread revolution to Russia, since they are so busy going after the oil field of Kudistan
At least let the Red Flag fly over the German states... Prussia is going to attack you anyway! Rule #1 of revolution: IF revolution does not spread it will stagnate and die. YOU don't want that now, do you? Also, see if Hungary can be brought into an alliance. Better to have Maygars die for the Revolution than Austrian farmboys. :D

Elias: Yes, but the hard reality of 20 Russian division was sitting on my border... And now those divisions are sitting in Bosnia-Herzegovina.

I will warmonger...

Why else would I be researching army tech? ;)

Perhaps I'll prey on German states, Hungary, Serbia, Ottomans or Sardinia, but I'm gonna keep you exited. :D

Oh, if someone wants to do me a favor... Find me pic of those muzle-loaded rifles and I'll be able to deligth you with some art. :D
