No idea, there is only one event in the wiki ID treasury and I'm sure I already posted it for integration.

Or perhaps you mean other game?

Well, then apparently the Egyptian POP files have to be fixed.

The Egyptian population today has significant Armenian, Greek, Italian and Turkish elements that has to be implemented somehow:

- Egypt 2000 -

Egyptian Arab : 38,782,000
Upper Egyptian Arab : 18,329,000
Sudanese Arab : 3,734,000
Nubian : 1,594,000
Bedoin : 1,396,000
Arabized Berber : 1,358,000
Gypsy : 1,357,000
Arab : 272,000
Armenian : 135,000
Yemeni Arab : 134,000
British : 89,000
Greek : 81,000
Italian : 76,000
French : 64,000
Turk : 34,000
Albanian : 20,000
and Others

Now the facts,

- due to historic circumstances, Jews have left Egypt in mass exodus before/during the 20th century wars.

- the British, French and most of Italian population have migrated to Egypt long after British occupation.

- some of the Armenians must have moved to egypt after 1915 events from Eastern Anatolia.

- Some of the original Greeks must have moved back to Greece or to other countries.

- a huge chunk of Turkish population must have moved to Turkey and again, a huge part of them must have been assimilated through inter-marriages since they share the same religion with local population. Egypt was the richest and one of the most prosperous states of the Ottoman Empire and there was a significant Ottoman population ruling Egypt. Furthermore, Turks were the ruling class in Egypt even long before the Ottomans. The Mameluks did not just disappear overnight. (Tolunoglu State before the Mameluk reign was ruling Egypt since 12th century, whom were also Turks.)

So with the above numbers, for 1836 i would project:

- a little less Armenian population than the figure above to be added.
- more Greek population than the figure above to be added.
- way more Turkish population than the figure above to be added.
- way less Italian population than the figure above to be added.
- a significant Jewish population to be added. (there were still 78,000 jews in 1948)

Ok, now please let me know what you think and we decide how to implement them.
keep in mind that small minorities are ALWAYS assimilated in a matter of months (if not weeks... ;) ).
so, be carefull. ;)

Well, these are the actual figures in Egypt as of today. So apparently they were large enough to stay intact.

Hrast,
the figures for Bosnia look good! I can't really help with Serbia; that is just beyond my area. The closest i get is Albania, Greece, Ottoman balkans and Bulgaria. I have a total figure for Serbia of 2.6m including Yugoslav Macedonia. Of course, at this point in time Macedonia was Bulgarian/Albanian/Turk/Serb/Greek. The numbers for Macedonia that i have are less than .5m people so Serbia should have about 2m with the remainder in Montenegro. Unfortunately some of my sources are very imprecise about the balkans.
I show about 3m pop in Bosnia, Croatia, Slovenia, Dalmatia, etc.
Does that sound about right to you? I agree with getting rid of some craftsmen/clerks as the Paradox default was very vanilla. The hard truth was that some provinces in Europe did not have any significant industrial development. I have heard one figure that said 50% of the Austrian Industrial strength was in the Pola peninsula & Bohemia.
Mike

Yes, the numbers you speak of sound approximatley correct to me. Perhaps the first one seems a bit low (unless it includes Vojvodina then it is a lot lower than the number I had in mind) and the second somewhat high, but they are in the frame I was thinking about. Although I have found few sources directly for 1830s and am mostly calculating backwards from later figures.
In the Balkans however people are touchier about proportionate ethnic disribution than about absolute numbers of combined popullations so I`ll throw a look at that.

Ok, I got my hands on what is Slavonia in the game. I understand somebody has modified theese POPs earlier. His work was improvment over original POPs, but mine are improvment over his. Probably not jet perfect though.

My thinking is:

slavonia_serb_orthodox.csv:
912;Serb;Orthodox;farmers;;;;5
913;Serb;Orthodox;farmers;;;;7
914;Serb;Orthodox;farmers;;;;13
914;Serb;Orthodox;clergymen;;;;9

929;Serb;Orthodox;farmers;;;;27

slavonia_croat_catholic.csv:
912;Croat;Catholic;farmers;;;;16
913;Croat;Catholic;farmers;;;;13
913;Croat;Catholic;clergymen;;;;8
929;Croat;Catholic;farmers;;;;4
914;Croat;Catholic;farmers;;;;4

slavonia_german_catholic.csv:
914;South_German;Catholic;farmers;;;;18
928;South_German;Catholic;farmers;;;;16
929;South_German;Catholic;farmers;;;;7

slavonia_hungarian_catholic.csv:
914;Hungarian;Catholic;farmers;;;;14
914;Hungarian;Catholic;clergymen;;;;10
928;Hungarian;Catholic;farmers;;;;8

slavonia_slovak_catholic.csv:
914;Slovak;Catholic;farmers;;;;8

slavonia_romanians_orthodox.csv:
928;Romanian;Orthodox;farmers;;;;9

As you can see I threw out Hungarian protestants (they just fragment Hungarian popullation and mean overally even smaller POPs) and brought Romanians into the picture. And balanced out proportions of ethnicities.

Slavonia

Yeah, the Slavonia was mine and i did it a few days after Vic came out, so it was a rush job just to lower Austria's numbers and rationalize the placement of special pops.

Mike

Clergy

Hrast,

I hope you don't mind some commentary;
I feel that you have to many clergy for the size of the overall pop.

The rule i am trying to use is put the clergy in the regional capital/most important province and limit the clergy to 4% to 9% of the total population of that ethnicity. I try to follow this for all special pops so we don't have 1,000,000 capitalists in Seoul in 1900.

Even in America today the proportion that i would label 'capitalist' would only be about 3%, maybe 4%.

This is just my impression, if some of our other esteemed members could chime in their opinions that would be great.

Your work does look much better than mine though!
Mike

what i need to include all this is a reference to the files that actually exist that should be replaced with your new stuff.
If you want, send me the corrected files to my email address for an easy implementation (my mail is in my sig ;) ).
Always remember to tell me the files that must be deleted, because if not, your files are going to be active and the old ones, creating HUGE disaster... ;)

General,

my Indian, Afghan, Tripolitanian and Sri Lankan POPs should overwrite the originals as replacements. The Egyptian pops don't have to replace anything. So, I'll e-mail you the corrected files shortly. :)

Ok, I added a note in the first post and the POP mod homepage that separate POP-mod-specific downloads will be discontinued and that we've been taken over by the VIP mod. As soon as VIP guys create their own site (Generalissimo, Żquieres que lo haga yo?) I'll post a link as well.

I haven`t gave any though to proprotions of clergy, but what you say makes perfect sense to me. I will halve the size of clergy POPs and submit the files.

Hi again Generalisimo,

now we have discussed several issues on Egyptian POP files and i have made a "little" more research on it, but now we have several different files that obviously duplicate eachother.

What do you suggest we do and how do we come to a compromise?

I noticed a bug in VIP - there's no Polish population of Krakow, Jews-only. Historically there were approximately 12.000 Jews there in 1836 (11,704 in the 1842 census, but Jews in Kazimierz tried to hide their children for tax reasons).

So I modified the habsburg_jewish.csv

Ok, since the POPs in VIP are a little messy I decided to continue with the project. I'll send the ready files to Generalissimo for integration.
