I agree with Garbon and about Guelders => Cleves/Berg, I don't a reason for this change. A player can always escape inheritance in 1538. Only plausible future is creation of the Netherlands that can be seen as an interesting goal by players.

If Gelderland was accepted, name of the specific events file should be renamed for consistency. This was my "main" issue.

Maybe Gelderland was chosen because it is similar to Friesland?

I don´t know but I guess that Gelderland was used because it´s the now obsolete german name for the province and the capital of that historical province nowadays is located in germany:
http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gelderland

German because the province starts the game with german culture?

But we use English name for countries as a convention.

See Herzogtum Geldren (with map) from a link in the page you mentioned... and translation in English.

I'm not sure what to do about this event and the two events that come after it. From all the accounts I've been able to find, the States General didn't back this like we suggest. Instead, it was funded almost entirely by merchants. That being the case, I think then that the 1000! that is taken from the the Netherlands during this event is much too much. Perhaps the first event should cost 100 and the subsequent event 50? Of course if we do that, the cash gain in the last event should probably be lessened as presumably the merchants who funded the project claimed most of the land.

Code:
#(1600-1607) Impoldering

	id = 186003

}
Ever since the Middle Ages people in the Netherlands have been trying to reclaim land from the numerous bodies of water and swamps. By the early 17th century the engineer Jan Adrieanszoon Leeghwater had developed a technique by using series of windmills to reclaim large stretches of land. Many large investors in Amsterdam have now been found available to provide funding for a major impoldering project, the reclaiming of the Beemster lake. However they will need the support of the States General to start reclaiming land and the risks of failure are great. What shall we do?

Code:
#(1609) Flooding of the Beemster Polder
event = {
	id = 186004
	trigger = { event = 186003 } #HOL: Impoldering
	random = no
	country = HOL
	name = "EVENTNAME186004" #Flooding of the Beemster Polder
	desc = "EVENTHIST186004"
	#-#

	date = { day = 1 month = january year = 1609 }
	offset = 10
	deathdate = { day = 29 month = december year = 1609 }

	action_a = {
		name = "ACTIONNAME186004A" #Let us continue to reclaim land
		command = { type = treasury value = -200 } #More funding is required
		command = { type = stability value = -1 }
	}
	action_b = {
		name = "ACTIONNAME186004B" #No this project has cost us to much already
		command = { type = domestic which = innovative value = -1 }
		command = { type = sleepevent which = 186005 } #HOL: Impoldering in Holland complete
	}
}
In 1607 the first major impoldering project was started with the reclaiming of land from the Beemster lake. However in 1609 just after the Beemster lake had fallen dry, a storm flood occurred breaking the dikes and causing the polder to fill again with water.

Code:
#(1612) Impoldering in Holland complete
event = {
	id = 186005
	trigger = {
		event = 186003 #HOL: Impoldering
		event = 186004 #HOL: Flooding of the Beemster Polder
	}
	random = no
	country = HOL
	name = "EVENTNAME186005" #Impoldering in Holland complete
	desc = "EVENTHIST186005"
	#-#

	date = { day = 19 month = may year = 1612 }

	action_a = {
		name = "GREAT"
		command = { type = stability value = 2 }
		command = { type = treasury value = 300 } #Revenues from selling reclaimed land
		command = { type = infra value = 2500 } #Reclaiming of land is a major improvement in infrastructure
		command = { type = provincetax which = 337 value = 1 } #Friesen, impoldering caused a surge in foodproduction, population and welfare growth #Friesen
		command = { type = provincemanpower which = 337 value = 1 } #Friesen
		command = { type = population which = 337 value = 5000 } #Friesen
		command = { type = provincetax which = 338 value = 1 } #Geldre
		command = { type = provincemanpower which = 338 value = 1 } #Geldre
		command = { type = population which = 338 value = 5000 } #Geldre
		command = { type = provincetax which = 339 value = 3 } #Holland was the province with the most reclaimed land and holding the Beemsterpolder #Holland
		command = { type = provincemanpower which = 339 value = 3 } #Holland
		command = { type = population which = 339 value = 15000 } #Holland
		command = { type = provincetax which = 340 value = 1 } #Zeeland
		command = { type = provincemanpower which = 340 value = 1 } #Zeeland
		command = { type = population which = 340 value = 5000 } #Zeeland
	}
}
Finally in 1612 the Beemster polder was completed yielding about 18000 acres of extremely fertile land. After the succes with reclaiming of the Beemster many more bodies of water followed throughout the 17th century.

So I recently picked up the Oxford History of Early Modern Europe: The Dutch Empire. Something I quickly noticed is that our Union of Arras event is rather ahistorical. First off, both the Union of Arras and Union of Utrecht occurred in January of 1579, not in 1575. Secondly, the Union of Arras was not really as monumental as we posit. As you can see from the image below (from wiki) the Union of Arras was only signed by a few Flemish towns, Artois and Hainault. For us, that really just means a decrease in our Artois province.

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/3/3e/Map-1579_Union_of_Utrecht.png

Contrary to what our text currently says, the Union of Utrecht was not only of the northern provinces but included large portions of the south. All the key southern cities signed the pact during the course of 1579.

So really what we should see happen in 1579 is a decrease in Artois (as we have now) but then also increases in Flanders and Brabant (perhaps 5 to simulate resistance of key cities but not of whole province). I'd then suggest that we don't have an revolt risk decreases for those two southern provinces till 1583, when the Council of State in Brabant dissolved itself as it was recognized that the southern province were lost. (Historically, Flanders and Brabant weren't part of the United Provinces only because they'd been conquered by the Spanish and were somewhat irretrievably lost.)

This also brings me to another issue. What should we do with our Oath of Abjuration event? Currently we have lines that the Netherlands should cede Flanders and Brabant to Spain with the comment that they weren't involved. However, the rub is that, that isn't true. In fact, the oath of abjuration was enacted in Antwerp(Flanders)! So on one hand, it would make sense for the Netherlands to get those provinces as they didn't really lose them till 1583ish (about the time that the Council of State in Brabant disbanded). However, it might make it too hard for Spain to take back those provinces. Of course, we could always have events that make the Netherlands hand back those 2 provinces if Spain controls them. Thoughts?

the issue here is that SPA and HOL (rebels)where warring in antwerp (flanders) at the time , IIRC Farnese was the SPA general
an interesting link

It would seem to me , we still need to have SPA own brabant and flanders or as you say, be given them prior to 1600

Umm...your link shows that the seige of antwerp began in 1584. That'd be after the Oath. :p

And yes, he was a general at the time. He helped to get back Flanders and Brabant, which is where my suggestion of handing them back to Spain if Spain controls them, comes from.

Honestly, I don't think anyone really cared. It wasn't always the policy that we translated everything. But yes, I certainly would agree that they should be as you've suggested.

About Dutch names, I don't think it is necessay to had the house (van Oranje/Nassau) when we have number, i.e. starting with Willem II. We don't do it for dynasties.

About 060014, remark should be "Louis Napoleon Bonaparte, Napoleon's brother.".

I agree, but I wanted to differentiate between the Stadtholders and the later Kings of the Netherlands (Willem I van Oranje vs. Willem I, &c.)

Agreed. Changed. :)
