In Kathmandu the populace was busy celebrating the conquest of Tibet. This was hailed by the government as a great victory for Nepal, but only a single step on the path. There was much more to be accomplished. After Tibet was annexed, Tribhuvana had made the decision of the direction the great nation of Nepal was to take down the path of time.
event1.jpg

After some consideration Tribhuvana decided that being a satellite nation of England was more of a hindrance than an asset. Therefore he left the military alliance Nepal had with Great Britain, and cleansed the government of so-called “Tories,” those loyal to the Crown. Nepal also placed claims on all the land surrounding Kathmandu. Lastly, the United Kingdom was disallowed from moving troops through Nepal.

Soon after breaking ties with the United Kingdom, Tribhuvana reformed his government into a more nationalistic, fascist state, modeled after that of Nazi Germany. The government leaned far-right, and very authoritarian.

COLORIZED PHOTO OF SUPPORTERS RALLYING NEPALI FASCISM

The public reaction to the rise of the Nepali Fascist Party was mixed. In the above photo, these men and women showed great support and enthusiasm for the cause. But others did not take so well to losing their democracy. They were dealt with by firing squad of Field Marshal Tshering’s NSS (Nepali Secret Service).

Under the new fascist regime Tribhuvana imposed a brutal schedule of modernization on Nepal. His harsh actions forcibly brought Nepal many steps closer to the 20th century. In the modernization two new mountain divisions were pulled together, many modern industrial factories were built, doctrines discovered, and techteams organized. But in this time of change the common citizen was overlooked, leading to needless waste of human life.
event3.jpg

The brutal pace of modernization continued throughout the summer and was finally competed around November 1936. At this time Tribhuvana held the Thanksgiving conference, which was a meeting between him and the heads of Bhutan and the United Kingdom. At the conference Tribhuvana insulted and humiliated the two other leaders, calling them “decadent imperialists,” “power-hungry cowards,” and “warmongers,” among other things.

event4.jpg

At the conference Tribhuvana demanded that Bhutan and England hand over the territory Kathmandu had laid claims on earlier in the year. He threatened Bhutan with invasion and annexation if they did not comply. To England Tribhuvana promised that if they ceded the territory then Nepal would respect Britain’s spheres of influence and leave them all alone.

After giving the matter much thought, all parties thought it was in their best interest to give in to Nepal’s demands and give them the territory. When the deal was signed, it was with the air of a business deal and not a geopolitical shift.

With Bhutan gone, Nepal was the dominant power in the region. But Tribhuvana was not satisfied, and turned north for somewhere to exert his country’s newfound strength.

Hmmm, these events are pretty much for your advantage only... almost like cheating...
Still, this AAR is quite good, looking forward to a long series of glorious victories!

Tribhuvana was addressing his cabinet with a new plan. The New Year Plan, actually.
event5.jpg

The New Year Plan was a map of what Tribhuvana wanted to happen to Nepal in the next year. In the Plan the king unveiled what the new Nepal should, no, would look like by 1938. Many territories would be added to the growing Nepal, integrated into the country’s national provinces. In addition, the rushed techteams of Nepal managed to produce detailed blueprints for “Improved Mountain Division” and “Census Tabulating Machine.” This would expedite research for those particular areas once their time came.

A map of Nepal (light green) and the areas of her claims (medium and dark green).

Tribhuvana sat back down at the head of the long wooden table. He pulled out a stack of papers and passed them around.
“This is an economy report for Nepal currently.

ScreenSave34.jpg

“As you can see, our economy has grown greatly since we occupied Tibet. We now have the strength to form six divisions of militia, as well as a brigade of old but powerful Great War artillery. We have also secured many trades with foreign nations; exchanging our abundance of supplies for other more needed materials. And isn’t it ironic, that as you can see the United Kingdom is our biggest trade partner.

“Anyway, our consumer goods, production, supplies, reinforcements, and upgrades are all meeting their quotas for the first time in many, many years. This is truly a great day for Nepal. Our economy is booming, and our resource stockpile is bigger than ever.”

The ministers all smiled and congratulated each other on their victory. Tribhuvana smiled grimly to himself. If only his ministers knew the fate in store for them.

Tribhuvana held up another report, this one on Nepal’s research divisions.
ScreenSave35.jpg

“Our research teams have already utilized the advantages of the blueprint for the Census Tabulating Machine. Research is progress smoothly on that, as well as on Basic Construction Engineering. Nepal is becoming a modern nation.”

Tribhuvana got to his feet. “This meeting is over, gentlemen. You are free to go.”

The various ministers got up and left the room.
Shortly after, Field Marshal Khadka Tshering entered the room in full military dress.

“Greetings, king,” he addressed Tribhuvana.

“Greetings, Field Marshal.”

Tshering glanced at the map of Nepal on the wall. “Is the plan ready? Is everything set up?”

Tribhuvana nodded. “Tomorrow, just before dawn, I will cross the border south, into India. There I will rendezvous with Nepali spies who will escort me to Calcutta. From there I will take a rowboat out into the ocean, out of sight of the coast. A German U-Boat will emerge there, I will enter it, and it will leave. The U-boat will take me to Germany to meet the Füehrer.”
Field Marshal Tshering nodded. “Good. The plan will succeed. And of course I will keep watch over the country in your absence.”

Tribhuvana eyed his top general. “I trust you will.
*********************************************
CARPIC.jpg

The car Tribhuvana used to sneak through India.

Tribhuvana left his palace, walked down the main Kathmandu road, and entered a nondescript early 30s car. His driver, a German, drove him south through the mountainous terrain down into India. After several hours they reached Calcutta. In the early morning the city was quiet. Tribhuvana’s driver brought him to Port Calcutta. A boat was there, with an Indian navigator waiting. Tribhuvana boarded the small boat along with his driver. The Indian steered the boat several miles out to see.

A short distance off, a German U-Boat surfaced. Tribhuvana and the driver embarked into the submarine. In submerged and was lost in the murky water.

Just wondering, why would Nepal have a Thanksgiving Day Conference. Thanksgiving is an American-only holiday. Besides that Nitpick, nice AAR :).

It was just a coincidence that the conference was held on thanksgiving
(Nepal didn't plan it for thanksgiving, it was all a coincidence)

OK, just wondering. Also, if you look around the HOI1 forum, there is an AAR called Nukes for Nepal. It might give you some ideas :D.
