Also on Milan, the Emilia territory still lets Milan launch ships even without a harbour. not sure if this was brought up before.
Isn't this due to the 'invisible harbour' bug? Should stop when that is fixed.

I didn't want the Angevins to get this event, as it is very much tied to Alfonso II. The drawback of using the leader trigger is that if he was killed in battle the event won't happen. I think that's reasonable, because had he been 'injured' in battle (he's a monarch too) he wouldn't be as attractive as a marriage prospect. It's a rationalization, but I think it's OK.

I suppose on ecould put in the Angevins, but it's a little unrealistic. First I don't see why they would have been chosen politically. Second, in 1474 Rene of Anjou (prospective King of Naples) is heirless, Jean of Calabria having been killed in 1470. So the only Angevin available as a marriage prospect is Rene II of Lorraine. He is 23, but has been married for 3 years. On top of which his prospects for inheriting Naples are precarious - everyone should be able to see a sucession crisis coming when Rene I, who is 66 years old, dies.

A rationalization that makes a lot of sense. It shouldn't be changed then.

Norrefelt, is the Cyprus event going into 1.29 the version with the monarch trigger or the leader trigger? Jester's change notice suggests the former.

Monarchs for Parma

Parma needs monarchs so here goes. Who they are and what I know about them:

1419-26 Aug 1545 repubblica
From 1419 to 1447 Parma was controlled by Milan. From 1447-1449 it broke away from the Ambrosian Republic and was a republic. It was reconquered, and remained under Milan until 1499 when Milan fell to France. It was French until they were driven out by Papal troops in 1509. In 1515 it fell to France, but became Papal again around 1522 (not sure exactly). It remained papal until it was created a Duchy by Paul III in 1545 (and sort of by Charles V too). The alternative to the republicca monarch would be all the foreign leaders. Seemed like too much work to me!
Stats 4/5/4 same as Siena!
26 Aug 1545-10 Sep 1547 Pier Luigi
Son of Paul III. A somewhat sucessful soldier, notorious for being "A shameless rake and a man of uncontrollable temper". Massacred the population of Perugia in 1540. Deprived the nobility of some privileges. Quite the tyrant, which led the leading nobles to kill him in 1547.
Stats 6/4/3 (a guess)
10 Sep 1547-15 Sept 1586 Ottavio
Led papal troops in the Mulburg war. Don't know how sucessfully. Codified Parman laws, patronized artists, played a very complicated game with France, the Emperor, and two popes to hold onto Parma and gain Piacenza. Founded the state militia. Known for " the moderation and wisdom of his rule".
Stats 5/7/8 (his diplomacy was quite impressive
15 Sept 1586-3 Dec 1592 Alessandro
The famous Duke of Parma. Led Spanish troops against rebels. Great Military commander, able diplomat, excellent administrator. Only really failed because Philip II kept changing his mandate (invade England, invade France, etc.)
Stats: 8/9/7
3 Dec 1592-5 Mar 1622 Ranuccio I
Served in the Netherlands with his father in 1590, accompanied the Spanish expedition against Tunis 1600. Built important buildings, founded theological school. Beheaded much of the aristocracy after discovering a plot against his rule in 1612. From different sources: "Ranuccio was a reserved and gloomy bigot; he instituted savage persecutions against supposed witches and heretics, and lived in perpetual terror of plots." and "reformed the duchy's administration and judicial system and was a benefactor of education and the arts"
Stats: 6/4/5

I read in Britannica and it wasn't much more informative. I can't add any knowledge of the rulers, but I think the way you have done it is good: using Repubblica (you really need to work on spelling that word :p ) and the foreign rulers. No other way really. Is it MIL/ADM/DIP, seems so from the descriptions?

Flag is opposite to France ie yellow background and blue fleurs.

or check this site: www.hostkingdom.net/regindex.html

If you look at the flags for PAR on the EUII CD (pre 1.07 or so) you'll see that they are exactly the flags that Parma (PAM) should have. So flags and shields are all set (and yes it is the blue Fleurs de Lys on yellow).

Need to update these (made one mistake, missed some info):
5 Mar 1622-11 Sept 1646 Oduardo
"glory seeking"- opposed Spain in war badly and the pope once, when most Italian leaders were wise enough to avoid doing so. Did manage to organize a large coalition to go to war against the pope.

11 Dec 1694-26 Feb 1727 Francesco Maria
" he was a good ruler and practised economy in his administration"
not sure what that means. Raised 28 companies in 1701 to establish independence. Only managed to keep armies out of cities.

Public Banks

Now that we're looking to add an event for the public bank in Venice I thought I'd add a couple of events based on that one. Note that the public banks in Amsterdam and London both give a luxury manufactory. Admittedly Rome and Milan aren't in the same league but...

Naples Monarchs

One problem with the current Anjou sequence for Naples is that the monarchs from the Angevin line are much better than the monarchs from the Aragonese line. This is because all the monarchs from when Naples wasn't independent (1501-1735) do not have their historical stats, but rather these standard "2/2/4-ish" stats. The argument for this was that Naples was not important in that era and that these monarchs ignored Naples. This is inconsistent with monarchs for numerous other states, and now makes the Aragon/Anjou choice strongly biased towards Anjou.

So to give the monarchs the stats they have in other files...

Sorry for stepping into your circles, but why Italy does not have cores on Corsica when Genoa is in? Is it because this 'sell of Corsica' event? Would it happen if unified Italy emerges? Would there be more events for Italy vs. Venice? Venice definitely would not be in favor five times stronger neighbor backing her arch-rival Genoa.

I would like to submit the following events in the submission thread in the next few weeks.

These events represent the Peace of lodi between most of the Italian states.

Note : I have included PAR (Modena) and GEN (Genoa) events so that they will be effected similar to the others and thus not gain an advantage.

Untested on Parser as it does not seem to work on the web anymore. The downloading version will not load either. ANY SOLUTIONS?

Genoa actually rejected the Peace of Lodi, but not really because of Corsica. One of the key issues in the peace of Lodi was the commitment by all parties to uphold the Aragonese sucession in Naples against the Angevins, and the Genoese reserved the right to support the Angevins in Naples in the future, and therefore never endorsed the treaty. They transported Robert of Calabria, the Angevin claimant to Naples 1458 and helped him conquer almost all of the kingdom, setting off another major Italian war. Shouldn't Genoa normally choose to reject the treaty?

A problem I have with your triggers is that we should expect Naples to be ruled by Aragon in 1454, as it was in real life. So the 'exists=NAP' trigger would not be met if the game were exactly as real life. The event should apply to Aragon not Naples.

I also think that the event shouldn't happen if any of the parties (other than Naples) is a vassal to a non-Italian power (mostly HAB and FRA, but also perhaps ARG).

With all the talk lately on AI's , I have noticed that of all the Italian states in this mod only Tuscany has more than 1 AI. Since most of the other Italian nations have many events why can we not create more specialised AI for them as well.

I will be willing to take this on if it is agreed on. I just need a start.

IB, I have given up on the peace of Lodi event as I see that the likely hood of it every firing is very small.

MANTUA

Toio said:
What about my original suggestion of a few months ago ie Mantua to be reinstated , Mantua to be a vassal of venice (prevents Venice from annexing Mantua too early), a core give to Milan for Mantua around about 1450.
I think this is a good idea. Milan will still have two provinces, which is about right strength-wise. With the new bonuses for vassals Venice will not be bad off with Mantua as a vassal. Should they be allies as well?

There seems to be plenty of support, from the Salzburg thread:
Toio said:
Better to bring back Mantua instead.
Isaac Brock said:
Yeah. Why aren't we implementing that? Do we really need a 3 province Milan?
Jester said:
I would be interested in seeing Mantua again, expecially as I see Milan Forming the Kingdom of Italy on a pretty regular basis.
Twoflower said:
Absolutely agree on Mantua, too.

If there isn't any opposition within the next few days I'll submitt it, concidering the issue has been debated in this thread, the previous two pages, and the Salzburg thread. That wasn't the proper place for it, so people might have missed it.
The original discussion for removing it was when the merging was done, it was here: p2 a bit, p3 post #93 and forward.
